I’ve found that switching up hands can really keep things fresh sometimes. Never tried it in golf though.

I haven't been playing for over a year due to a golf elbow in my left arm, and i "left" my clubs in Bali last time i was there. Going back soon and will definitely hit the courses then. I spotted a problem right away. The right sock is 4mm higher than the left sock. Everybody knows when you play left handed the left sock has to be higher.

Mate why didn’t I see these bloody videos ages ago! I love your attitude and approach. You have me hooked now. My game has dropped due to lack of playing and practice. The only practice I do is my putting on the synthetic putting green in my yard. That I love doing. The range is a waste of time and I know it. But I just want 0:02 practice my wedges the biggest nemesis for me. So it is 0:02 time which I have to make. I’ll now get that gps watch so I know my distances better as I have new fitted clubs. What a great idea for a series baus! I've been doing swing speed training and it has you doing left handed swings. I can swing over 100mph lefty and I used to switch hit some in baseball. It's got me thinking I might be like the Playa in Chief one day and play around lefty too for fun. Gonna first focus on breaking 90 again righty since I've only been playing golf for a year after taking 10yrs off. Keep the great content coming Matty!

THIS!!! This is how +100 golfers play. It's the randomness of the talent that cannot be faked. Currently you cannot predict where your ball is going and that is the hardest thing to manage as a high handicap golfer. Great attempt. Look at your face when a putt goes in!! 🤣🤣

I’m a righty that usually gets around in the low 80’s (index 9.8). 2 years ago I bought a left handed putter and started practicing with it until I got the feel for it. As a right eye dominant person I feel like I ‘see’ the line better standing over the putt with my dominant eye closer to the hole. It’s weird but works, as long as the greens are on the quicker side…wet or slow greens I struggle with lag pace a bit and usually use a right side putter on those days. Anyway, I’m not sure if I gain strokes on the green this way but I really do feel better putting this way, confidence wise.

I’m a new jedling in the ways of the playa. Play a 3 handicap. Using a 1/2 set and only 5 wood off the tee had a 70 gross last weekend. Played the safe shot every time, took on nothing difficult and the pars just rolled in. I salute you BAUS !

I have been golfing for over 40 years, and a few years ago I got frustrated with my right hand swing and switched to left handed for a season. It was ugly, my brother was tolerant but he hated it. I eventually went back to playing right handed but I still own LH irons and practice left handed to this day. I think it helps me focus on fundamentals both handed. Good luck breaking 90. You will definitely break 90 before September 2024!

From watching The Playa's many videos, I conclude that by far the best advice he gives is to avoid the big number. There are a few key components that go into accomplishing that but they are all very reasonably within the ability of most golfers. For me that means a max of bogey on any hole. I'm a 10 H'cap (and dropping) index and this is very doable when it is a conscious part of my decision making on the course.

Did this exact same bet, as a lefty, last year. Went from a 20 to an 11.6: stopped losing drives, comfy with a chip, and good putting. Literally way of the playa

There is a brilliant lesson here. Compare the smoothness of the practice swings with the stroke attempts. When Matty lowered his expectations and played to a confidential target on the 3rd hole, he swung easy and had great contact. And even left handed he is the best putter on KZread.

I know a bunch of new golfers who have played dozens of rounds and haven’t gotten their first par yet. Impressive to do it in 3 holes playing left handed

I could relate to a few of the shots you played here, some have improved in my arsenal, but some perfectly illustrate my battle with this easy game! So I started playing about 8 months ago. Tall order for a lefty whose never played and already 40. Yesterday was the first time I could properly incorporate the way of the playa in terms of course management. The mate I played with is a +1, so our game differed tremendously. He really enjoyed my game, especially with my laughing at the weird things happening. I've yet to break 120, but can see it's coming sooner than I think (3 holes that blew up gloriously would actually have had me on 110, but that's part of learning) Thanks Matt, this is superbly helpful. I'd love to stick you for a beer when you're in SA again!

Just go get some lessons. I’ve been playing for just over a year and started taking lessons last fall. I’ve taken 3 so far and my ball striking has gotten insanely pure compared to no lessons. It’s worth it.

I recently dropped by handicap to 10 and shot 81 82 a few times then all of a sudden i created a massive duck hook with all my irons i proceeded to shoot 95 I have no clue what to do people say i should turn my body more but idk Great content tho

If you're hooking your irons, it can either be closing your face or your path is very in to out, or most likely a combination. I had that problem, and my coach got me to try and hit sort of like a cut shot where you feel like you're swinging across it almost like hitting a fade, and then once you find that shot where it's fading, you can try and get that same feeling while swinging normally and you could see good results. It could also be you're taking the club to inside and it's trapping you when you go to release it. A fix to this could be to try and take a more deliberate backswing where you feel the club moving further outside than inside. Start with just half-swings, almost like a knockdown shot, then you could work up the bag full swinging. Let me know if any of these help and good luck!
