ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny, after years of struggling to get out of bunkers, since I've watched your video I have successfully hit out of EVERY bunker I've landed in! Thanks for the awesome instruction!
I took Danny's bunker technique to the golf course this past Monday and was two for two getting out of deep, soft bunkers on the first try. What a game-changer. Excellent video. Thanks, Danny!

So watched this three times this week. Stepped into a greenside bunker today went through this process (without grounding club obviously 😊) and nonchalantly played a cracking bunker shot the rolled beautifully into the hole for a birdie 3. Haven’t been that excited in sand since I was about 6! Thanks Danny.

Really kind thank you
I’ve watched dozens of bunker videos and had at least 20 lessons with instructors. By far the best explanation on bunker play I have found. Each piece of this setup is easy to understand. The distance to the ball is a tip I have never heard before. I tried it at our deep practice bunker with various sand depths and it worked every time- even with wet compact sand. Simply amazing.

That’s wonderful to hear
Everyone always said open the face of the club. You answered the question I always had, how much? I never did the 45 degree left heel and point the club heel at the left toe. Wow! I can do this. I know I can. I was sort of OK in bunkers, but I was not getting lower like you described. All of this is repeatable that you instructed, not complicated at all, and produced good results. I had good results with your pitching video as well. Thank you so much.

My grandfather taught me this exact drill for setup and swing to make sand contact one ball behind about 50 years ago! It still works, and when I go wonky I always return to this. He always said that setup was the key to good bunker play around the green. Fairway bunkers are completely different. I would love to see a lesson for strikes from fairway bunkers! Thank you!

This was so very helpful. Went straight to my local club & practiced from the worst bunkers (my course does superficial raking over hard pan beneath) with great results. One thing I noticed is your feet alignment. I'd always been instructed to have an open stance (left of target). Aligning as you did toward the target allowed a consistently predictable outcome. Thanks.

Beautiful lesson as ever Danny! What I've realised from watching you, is your control is such that you can consistently recreate the reasons for our bad shots. I would love to see a chipping lesson where you concentrate on what makes the bad shots. Then show us how to recreate those bad shots on purpose, then move onto slowly correcting them. I think you did this once with a slice video, you showed us how to hook it and then bring it back to straight. I found that helpful as it made me "feel" the bad shots and thus it was easier to correct them.
Excellent instruction. Thanks Danny.

It’s amazing how little effort is really needed to hit a ball out of a bunker. Letting gravity do the work was key for me. No need to lunge or hit hard in most cases. Now if I can only do this when I am actually playing golf and I only get one chance.😊

@JCHJansen you are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you 🙏🏻
It's amazing how easy the game can be when it's taught in understandable bite-size chunks and something I will have to try. Bunker play is only something I can to "practice" unfortunately when i'm actually on the course, and over the years I developed my own style of bunker play. The ball usually towards the back of my stance, feet pointing 30-45 degrees open stance with the club also open so it runs up the longest part of the face. Almost like a modified flop shot. Works most of the time, with distance control coming from club head speed.
Danny as usual fantastic 🏌🏿♂️

thanks danny, really helped me overcome my fear of bunkers and thinning the ball. thanks ❤
Thx v much, Danny. One extra thing is using a tempo 2:1 as with pitches and chips as all the tour players and you do, rather than 3:1 (drives and iron shots). It feels as though I have so much time on the shot and is calming to boot!
Danny - really struggled in the bunkers yesterday and didn’t understand what I was doing wrong. Often, i fat it and don’t get the ball out. Worse if i have to carry it across the green. Not a chance. Super helpful video. Ball placement forward. ✅ low hands and knees bent. ✅. But i noticed not a lot of twisting or shoulder movement. It seems you naturally let the arms swing around your body with a loose (fishtail) wrist. Is that right? Can’t wait to give this a and shavea few strokes off my score. Thank you. You’re the best.

Brilliant. I used to be able to get out of the sand on my first try consistently, but not lately. I think a big part of the problem is having the ball in the middle of my stance, rather than forward as shown. That, and these other tips, are sure to help. What weight distribution at set up would you recommend Danny?
@DanielMaude

Does depend on the lie but generally a little forward

Great lesson! I will be sharing this video with my bunker challenged brothers. One question if I may. Your lead foot is opened 45º but you stance is square to the line of intended flight, neither opened nor closed. Did I see that correctly in this video? This seems different to 'conventional' bunker set up where the stance (not just the lead foot) is open. That approach never really works for me. I usually set up square to the line. I think your lesson will take my bunker play to the next level. Thanks.
@DanielMaude
28 күн бұрын
That’s correct, I stand square to the shot but with my front foot at 45 degrees.
Hello Danny, please note you're using two definitions of low point position in this video: 1. from 1'05" onwards, you say the low point is slightly (which in the visual looks like three quarters of a golf ball) AHEAD of the golf ball 2. 4'45'' into the video, low point is visualised (as a line) directly UNDER the ball To my knowledge, a low point that is ahead of the ball would result from a setup similar to the compact sand shot you demonstrated: steeper AoA. Could you clarify, please? Many thanks for the video!
Need to get out and try this today, my bunker play is so bad 😂😂
