We met Sonny and Hoa on this cruise. Extremely nice couple, friendly, approachable, and funny! I had never heard of him prior but watching this video…he is very genuine and very much like this in person. Congrats on your success and it was a pleasure meeting you both and hanging out with the penguins!!

I worked offshore for 8 years pretty much all maritime crew and galley staff were Filipino. They keep the maritime world running and are some of the hardest working people I have been lucky enough to work next to. I wish the industry would treat them the way they deserve, instead of a cheap captive labour force. We used to do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. I could go home between multiple shifts working with the same Filipinos that may have been onboard for up to a year without a break. Offshore it's 12 hours a day 7 days a week no days off.

The people who make it to Antarctica are exclusive bunch, you either got to have excess money or a scientist. Normal cruise ship can't go through the drake passage as the sea can be very rough, and the danger of hitting iceberg is real so they have smaller ship (icebreaker?). Glad to see Sonny got to live it up and enjoy a nice honeymoon with his wife. But maybe help people who are in need with their extra money instead of wasting it on such a short trip (kids in mountainous region, poor people in Vietnam). BTW, I do enjoy this new channel more, there's an edge to it.

Did you know that the Drake Passage is one of the most dangerous bodies of water in the world? I was reading an article on it the day before I saw your video. It is where the Pacific, Atlantic and Southern oceans converge. One of the reasons the Drake Passage is so rough is due to the vast volume of water travelling through this bottleneck. Just a fyi and probably a great read into the Drake Passage.

@@stephanbl5212 Actually there is far less foods coated in sugar (and all other derivatives of sugar) than the US. But taking granola as an example, there are types without sugar and types with. Another example is Froot Loops UK: 39g serving = 9.75g sugar, US: 39g serving = 12g

the thing is the cruise is not in a normal place but in antartica, everything costs more to be run up there, it´s like ordering a beer on a mountain hut in 5000 meters, it´s not easy to take that beer up there... that said i rather pay my mortage but if u had the money why not

It's Worth it. I worked in a cruise before. Each staff has to work almost 10 - 12 hours a day without a day off for 3 weeks. They only allowed shore leaves when docking, if the staff on good behaviour. Of course, they also get a handsome salary too. The accumulated leaves will earn a month or two to go back home to their own country. There are pros and cons working on cruises especially hard for married people. 😅

It's a ship not a boat Boats are for inland/ coastal navigation while ships are ocean going vessels. Cost of the trip was driven up by the cabin they had on the very front ones on the aft are equally or more expensive and the open bar for the cabin included in the cost is not cheap Fairly certain that Silverseas is part of Royal Caribbean I've done about 20 cruises and have the lead status on celebrity/ Royal Caribbean so I've had to learn all these ditties
