    The issue of the 4-cylinders is not power. 4Runner's people do not care about power. They care if that engine can arrive to 300K miles without major interventions.

  • @justinshankle

    @justinshankle

    Not worth the control imo, I don't watch nearly as many random reviews anymore because they are less enjoyable. He should build a custom location for filming where he has the control but also better lighting and acoustics. His dungeon is depressing and I can't believe someone as cool as @DougDeMuro would film there.

    It's sad that dealerships always do markups. Although we bought a 2023 highlander xse for sticker price, and then this year in January a 2024 Tundra platinum for $7000 off the original Sticker, the dealership had, cause it took some negotiating. But I kid you not, both times we drove each vehicle out the same day we purchased. This was my experience with Lia Toyota in Colonie NY

    Doug - The power and performance of the drivetrain are NOT the issue with any of Toyota's new lineup. Its the lack of simplicity and question of reliability. Enthusiasts want to be able to fix their car on the side of the road, not be forced to go to a dealer. I get offering these i4/hybrid drivetrains, but not even having the option of a NA V6 (or V8 in the Tundra) is the difference between multiple people I know choosing American despite being big Toyota fans.

This impacts the height of the floor in the storage area, about 4 inches above the non-3rd row 4runners. The new hybrid models clearly has the same design to house the batteries. Not sure how they are going to fit a 3rd row in the hybrids models, storage space will be hugely impacted. The camera system while off-roading is already a feature in the 2024 model as well.

    Consider this just watched the 4Runner and watched the Land Cruiser yesterday Here in Australia we have NO 4Runners so that might be a reason to keeping the LC and the new LC has a 7 seat option here in Australia might be the reason for the cup holders and usb ports

    Looks amazing, but a 4 cylinder turbo is a dealbreaker for me. I understand this is driven by regulations, but of all Toyota models you’d think they’d do anything to retain the proven reliability of an NA V6 in their off-roader

    You're right. The Toyota turbo 4's are crude sounding and unrefined. A V-6 option should really have been offered.

    One of my favorite things about the 5th Gen is that the engine still sounds like an old school truck. This new engine sound leaf blower on steroids-ish to me at least in the videos I’ve watched

    It’s gives Toyota no excuse why they did that when Nissan and Honda still offer V6s that comply with epa regulations

    It makes more power and tows 1000 pounds more. That tells you it’s better. Plus the new transmission is a massive improvement. Turbos are such simple technology. Should last 500k easy. Toyota tortured these things to test for longevity. They said it’s a massive improvement.

    I’m assuming all of the press was holding onto the agreed official release date. Forbes “accidentally” leaked a couple hours earlier though.

    Side profile slightly reminds me of the late 90s Durango. Also looks like it could be a Dodge product from the side as well. Looks good minus fender flares.
