"Should" is what we'd like under ideal circumstances. Reality is there's only a niche market for something like that, so to make it profitable, the car would have to be outrageously priced which in turn would limit it more. They know that, and it will not be produced. I've seen a '35 Malibu coupe here on YT that's a faithful re-creation to the 1970 model from the front and back, but using the existing Camaro body. It was a forest green. But no, it'll never be produced, so enjoy the pictures.

Well yes. This video seems purposely done to confuse (us) to not know what's going on, intentionally, because there is no El Camino forthcoming at all.

To say it all, it would be an Australian import if the El Camino would make a comeback in the 2000s.

My brother in law still has his 71 El Camino from high school. I love the swivel seats. Had to add that after hearing it has a turbo 4 cylinder engine I’m out. A 4 cylinder? Might see if I could install a supercharged V8 before I buy one.

Imagine not having a V8 for power if one put a small goose neck hitch in the bed to pull a single car trailer to somewhere or trailer for a hobby farm as well as take your lady to eat or even a simple ice cream just to get out of the house and hang out with others. Like one did when these came out in G.M. and G.M.C. versions. I do know a guy with a 70 4 speed 454 LS 5 that ran like 🦨! Up in smoke was easy with a light rear. Always wanted to put a same generation Pontiac Lemans front clip with a T/A shaker on a small 8 engine on a El Camino cab and bed. Mini tub it and if bucks up a half size blower / supercharger on a 305,350, 383, 406 small block with a easy to see over it bug eyed single carb hat scoop look instead of the T/A look would be a Kool Kustom . Fun to dream if only i had some Leno Bucks .

I've always been a fan of the El Camino...ever since my uncle brought home his brand new 1972 El Camino SS with the 454cid! The 1970 SS was the epitome of the model's existence...it had the maximum HP before the de-tuning of all the brand's performance vehicles...thanks to the 'energy crisis' that struck post-1970. It always seemed to be a love it-or-hate it vehicle...the hater's had no taste IMHO. If this is brought to fruition, it'll be interesting to see if this new generation can or will be accepted...

I think it's great if the El Camino makes a comeback , But from what I heard in 2023 it was going to be a newer version of the legendary iconic 1970 El Camino , In this video the front of the El Camino looks like it has a twist of the newer Camaro & Newer Pickup that's already out , I believe there would be more sales if it had the looks of the 1970. El Camino.

I drive a hybrid now. Not getting another one.

I like it very much however in any performance configuration, a mid size pickup is going to trunk this misfit. Unless you can keep it under 30k base. JMHO

Great looking car, at 50K a pop for each one, I hope they can hold back the rust, better that their early 2000 models. Which are unbelievably bad!

why doesn't GM get smart and come out with a 57 chevy belair with a modern drive train and interior. they would sell millions the first year. i would be one of them.

I hate the skinny tires. Would love to have thicker tire's, it would ride better and security of actually having real tires on the vehicles again.

All GM is doing from what I gather Is takin the discontinued Camaro drive train in parts. Which probably are the 3.6 V6 & 9 speed. And then next possibly a 5.3 V8 from the truck line for the SS. But the SS, I guess will be AWD. And then after the first introduction models have sold. Then down size the whole EL Camino at the end of its production to a Hybrid 2.0 4 cyl turbo.. If true. Then get the SS!

So, Chevrolet is offering 3 different models of the same vehicle, powered by the best V-6 they've made, a powerful V-8, and a hybrid power plant. It sounds like they are trying to cover all their bases.

If it does come out it will flop. To me it's just another 4 door pickup truck that looks like all the other vehicles. If these car companies want to sell new versions of old vehicles they should make them look like the originals. So no I'm not impressed with just another pickup

Looks like a Camaro with a small pickup bed. Left over parts from the Camaro parts ben, one way to get rid of access parts.

It needs more horsepower…. If I could build my own … it would have a hellcat drive train or scat pack … or the zo6 drive train… with 4x4 not the all wheel drive… you need just 2 wheel drive most of the time… less wear on the 4x4 system that way…

Lets hope they make a body style that can be adapted to different drive trains. 4-6-8- cylinder 2 wheel drive or all wheel drive with 4-5-9 speed as well as a manual transmission option with a look of the El Camino , Camaro or any other look as long as it does not look like PICK UP TRUCK to maybe small truck look for the 4x4 is of no concern as long as they make a car front end look as well would make nice sales. If G.M. wants to make them electric then fine and we will see if that sales or not. just please make the products look different instead of the one size fits all and you can not tell the difference even between brands like pick up trucks of different trim levels the only difference. They will sell well like before but customers want at times different plastic chrome for options alone.

Seem i recall a 53 model ? they came out with and it didn't sale to good. I believe it would have did better with a extended cab or crew cab. Almost as many women driving trucks as men are. My zippy 1981 El Camino Conquista, in silver and midnight blue, with navy interior, had a small V8 (267), and an automatic transmission. It had a bed, which I measured at 79.5", that would be much longer than what they are offering on the new version. You could easily lie down in the bed which we did to star gaze. In addition, it had an air shock system that would adjust the bed to the load. It was easy to park, and drove like a dream, especially on long road trips. It hauled many a load, and I miss the versatility of it. Lost it to a tornado in 1992.

The original Ford ranchero's, and the Chevy El Camino's were ALL 2 door vehicles. IF there is to be a sort of 'reissue' of this class/type of vehicles, in my way of thinking, they should be brought out first as 2 doors. For my wife and I would only buy a 2 door reissue. If somebody wants or needs a four door vehicle with a small bed, take your pick of the compacts that are out, and the others that will be out soon. But something tells me the automotive brain trusts will find a way to turn them all into 4 door weenie mobiles...

They will rot in the lot!

You can bet your ass it WON'T BE A V-8 ! Have you ever heard of CAFE Corporate Average Fuel Economy ?? The MOST you can hope for is a V-6 with a turbo. That is a 4.3L LV3 V6 Turbo with about 335 HP ! !

They turned an American Ute (car with bed) into just another truck...ugh. If nothing else, since the they just go rid of the Camaro, why not just take that body, cut a bed out of it and call it the new El Camino.
