Thank you for all you do, I really enjoy your vlogs and you keep me company while I knit and crochet. I am intending to keep a record of all my crafting this year, finish all sips from 2023 then start on my ufos, some of which go back 30 years! Stash busting over the last year has been really good and I will continue with this, it'll be fun to search for patterns to match the yarn I already have! Wishing you all the best for 2024.

Maybe you could knit something for your Christmas tree with your scrap yarns. Two or four each month. So you have less stress at the end of this year. And a lot of nice knittings for your tree. Or you can knit something for the Christmas tree immediately after a project with the leftover yarn from that project. This way you can remember everything from that year. One project- and than one for the tree.

I love those ideas! I already have some ideas for my scrap yarn🤩 I've also changed my mindset when it comes to having loads of decorations ready for the tree. If I have time to make them, great! If not, I'm just going to look at the empty spots on the tree as a place for future memories🫶🏻 When my son starts making decorations, etc. I also like the idea of choosing one thing to knit each year, like my bows this year. So, each type of ornament represents a year. But no matter what I end up doing, I'm not waiting until December😅😂

I am going to work thru my active WIPs before starting anything new. I have two blankets to finish, but I am going to focus on one at a time and work on it a little each day. I have one sweater, two socks, and a popcorn garland to finish. I want to knit classic pieces for my wardrobe, not necessarily what’s trendy at the moment. Scraps are a whole other entity…I am going to knit accessories for my kids stuffed animals with some of them. I have leftover yarn from my son’s sweater and he wants me to knit a sweater for his teddy, so that is on the list. I also want to make more Christmas ornaments. If I make a couple a month, I will have a lot by next December. Knitting (and crocheting) shouldn’t be stressful. Please enjoy yourself and the process. If you don’t have a ton of FOs for your podcast, it’s perfectly fine! I like seeing what you have worked on, but I also like hearing about other things you do in your life. I love seeing footage of the cows when you go to work and footage of Norway in general. Make what makes you happy! If you do rearrange your stash, could you take us with you? I enjoy those videos immensely! Happy New Year! Christina

I love your plans for the new year!! Knitting classic pieces, and pieces that actually suit me rather than just hopping on the latest trend is something I want to focus on too! A few Christmas ornaments a month is a great idea, both to get rid of scraps and get the ornaments done so you won't have to stress. Thank you so much!! I'm trying to learn myself to slow down. I have rearranged my stash now, hope to post it this wednesday! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Oline! It is nice to see you happy and relaxed after all of the knitting stress you went through recently, and I love your goals. I often find myself knitting on things that I feel I should be knitting on rather than what I really want to knit, so I have a goal of knitting on what will bring me the most joy at the moment and actually allow myself to cast on an additional WIP or 2 if I feel like it (I tend to be more monogamous with my knitting). An amazing colorwork sweater I knit about 10 years ago is in the book Norwegian Handknits by Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel . Maybe it is available in one of your libraries? The pattern is the Voss Family Sweater and you can see it on Ravelry. It has steeking as well!

I am happy to see you so relaxed coming across into the new year and full of plans and energy. As a viewer I could witness that stress overtook the december up to christmas. That break over the holidays and adjoined days playing and doing as less as possible (as you explained in one of your videos) was a source of a fresh mindset. I can relate to knitting more involved patterns and practicing different techniques. Currently I am enjoying taking my time for the Violeta Sweater. At first the instructions seemed overwhelming, but now I got the hang of it 😊 Whatever you choose to knit and how slowly or fast, most important thing is to enjoy and the love for the craft. And this is what you genuinely radiate in your videos and therefore I will be there to watch your journey to accompany me while knitting. Happy New Year from Julia 🎉

Happy new year to you and your beautiful family! 🥰 I have never felt stressed about knitting except when I promised my stepdad to knit him a pile of socks for the cold season, I have been procrastinating and procrastinating and suddenly it became cold and I haven't even started yet because I didn't feel like it so I had to force myself and get into it. I hated it because I had to stress about it and I couldn't knit what I wanted until I was ready because a promise is a promise. The conclusion for myself- don't promise to knit anybody anything ever. I will knit what I want and need and also for my toddler when she grows out of the things I already knitted for her. As for gift knits- maybe start early this year in order to not stress to knit all the things in the last minute. This year I decided to skip gift knitting altogether because of the stress. I guess I am a selfish knitter, but I don't care and feel ashamed about it 🤪☺

Weaving in and sewing up I hate it's not a job I enjoy. I am doing the sophie shawl to get back into knitting again. It helps my mental health. It's about the process for me. Listening rather reading the subtitles lol I feel less lonely and feel I can connect with a love of knitting with others. My next project is the brioche cardigan by petite knits. I'm a bit nervous as I haven't done anything like thus before though I can knit complicated lace patterns. Can you help with a drops mohair wool suggestion. I have sensitive skin and I wonder if there is an alternative or leave it out. Any lovely people could you comment. I think that you are amazing to achieve what you knit with a toddler. you have lovely hair - so healthy and shiny - i've been meaning to tell you that. bangs too. (isn't "bangs" a funny word? "fringe" too...) i applaud your resolution to stress less with your knitting in this new year! - as regards less wips on the needles, well, i would disagree if that's what stimulates you, as long as you keep that first resolution in line, it shouldn't matter if you have lots of projects. yes, though, if it stresses you out, that's another story! and yes to harder projects in the new year - i'm with you on that! and yes to color work! olina - (have i spelled that correctly?) check out the Trouville sweater - i finished mine this past fall and wore it for the first time on the new year and it is soooo incredible. i'm so pleased with my color work tension - it fits beautifully. i knit mine in her exact colorways and as a sweater. note in her photos that the one she's wearing is a cardi - on backwards! - which is how she designed it if you like. i think with a steek? not sure. but have also done 3 steeks now and would totally recommend that technique if you haven't tried it yet. that was my first "hard sweater", though it was surely more fun than hard - now i've launched into Kate Davies' Tioraidh and am loving this project too. destashing is a wip, right? ha. wishing you a healthy, happy new year filled with much yarny goodness - cheers from libby in utah

Thank you!! I agree that "bangs" & "fringe" are weird words😂 In Norway, we call it "pannelugg," which directly translated is something like forehead hair😂 I think the amount of Wips I have at a time is hard to balance, I do get a boost to my knitting mojo from casting something new on, but it gets out of hand so fast. All of a sudden, I've gone from 2 to 6 projects in 2 days, and then it starts to stress me out😅 almost the right spelling! It's "Oline"🥰 Thank you for suggesting Trouville. I have a couple of suggestions for you regarding sweater projects that may challenge you. One is The Heirloom Quilt Cardigan. It is colorwork and meant to use scraps. The pieces are supposed to be knit indiv8dually and seamed together at the end, but I only know 1 person who has done it that way. Everyone else has seamed each piece as they go which is what I would suggest. The other sweater is the Alder Sweater. It is Mosaic knitting and ends up with so much texture. I have not done one of these yet , but it may be in my plans for later in the year. Sorry. Heirloom Quilt Cardigan is by Katryn Seeburger and Alder Sweater is by Rebecca Clow.

I’m half obsessed with the Tudor Roses book (Elizabeth I and Jane Seymour 2013 version). You can get some of her older books used or go through interlibrary loan to see them. She’s been designing for decades, so sometimes you’ll want to go down a few sizes to get a more modern amount of ease with the older patterns. But then again, oversized seems to be coming back into fashion, so maybe not.

Wow look at your hair! You look amazing and so much more relaxed than you were before Christmas We are both thinking about similar knitting goals in 2024.😊 I’m sad that your changing Selfish knits to self care knits, when you say selfish knit you remind me to stop giving everytime and to be selfish sometimes. I’m going to be recording my stash to ravelry this year to see what I have, I think I have too much yarn I’m a little scared 😂 I love that child’s jumper your working on ❤

Thank you! It's been nice (and needed) to relax a bit after Christmas! I think you should still think about yourself even if I call it self care rather than selfish! It's not selfish to use your own hobby to focus on yourself, and without a bit of self care, we can not be the best versions of ourselves! I look at it as an investment in my mental health, and my whole family benefits from that! I'm a bit scared to go through my stash, too, and really see how much I have🙈
