As an old man of 66, the 4Runner is the only vehicle out there that hits the fun meter for me. Sure wish it got just a little better MPG. Thank you Toyota for making such a great vehicle.

The new one will get better MPG, and will be noisy and Revy and hunt up and down the gears to save you a dollar in gas if you have the financial means for a car with lousy gas mileage just do it

I like the SR5 Premium trim the best. You can get a moonroof, and you don’t have to deal with the grey bumpers than come on the TRD off road and you don’t have to spend as much money. Any 4 wheel drive 4Runner is way more capable than anyone needs.

You can only remote start a vehicle so many times before you have to actually start it to get it running. My truck only remote starts 3 times before it stops working until I crank it with the key.

The 3rd row seating in the SR5 Premium gives an additional 3 inch of leg room in the back seats where the higher modles do not. Also the 4WD dial is WAY cleaner and will age much better than the fake leather gear shift. And lastly I put a 3inch lift with 285 that sit at a -15 offset and I couldn't be happier. Building from the SR5 is the way to go. Only thing is I need to find a hood scoop solution. I may go carbon fiber

I like that the 4Runner is still relatively basic compared to all of Toyota's other SUVs. I hope they leave it that way. The 4Runner has always been more of a robust vehicle, and so they should keep the current powertrain and not add too much more tech. We still need some vehicles that use tried and true tech.

Just a shame that for all the years this generation 4Runner was being manufactured, Toyota never tried to improve the HP and MPG. We all know it doesn’t get 19 MPG on the highway. Wow! Sounds like the Tundra and most new full sized pick ups get better mileage than this? Less HP and torque and dated style. Smaller almost cramped interior seating than full sized. Not sure why anyone would buy one.

I was reluctant to buy one. 12,000 miles later, include a long 7,000 mile road trip, and now I understand why it's amazing. I guess you have to own one to understand.

@@leviperrine I owned a 4 runner many years back (maybe 1985) when they first came out. Excellent vehicle! No doubt about it. Ran and ran forever. My only gripe is they haven't innovated much in 20 years. Prices have certainly gone up. But not advancement. The Tundra (which I also owned 2008) was the same. Both excellent when they arrived. Just laid back for too long in my opinion.

I debated between this and a 2.0L Wrangler Willys. The relative fuel efficiency, better physical dimensions for off-roading, and fun factor of the Jeep did it for me. As reliable as they are, these 4Runners are just boring 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Yeah, don't have to work on them unless you tear them up or you get a bad one. That's really boring being able to go where I want when I want, and really be bored when I get there. The jeep will not be boring, always something to fix.

@@flatliner2713 I’ve had Jeeps for 10 years and go off roading on them. Never had any major issues and no there is not always something to fix. I daily mine now. 30k miles and it’s fine. Not sure what you’re talking about. Maybe you need to go test drive one and take the doors + roof off. Let me know how going back to that dinosaur of an SUV feels after.

She has a blast with it for the year she owned it (jeep) but the again infamous unreliability and stealership run-around she had to get rid of it. Are least her year of fun was a reasonable expense as she sold it 'I think' to Car Max at the inflated pricing.
