I think some people get confused with who this is targeting. It's not a Cherokee trailhawk competitor or a bronco competitor but more targeting that Subaru crowd. People who occasionally go camping etc....it doesn't need A/T tires and a huge lift.

I hope this is just the start of Mazda taking off road more seriously. Maybe wishful thinking, but, I’m dying to see a CX9 size version that’s even more off road ready. I firmly believe that Mazda should make a competitor to the Grand Cherokee that’s sporty and just as capable (or at least almost as off-road capable)

Hi from Vancouver! Great video thank you. I test drove Mazda CX-50 & CX-5 on Tuesday!!!! I drive a 2011 Subaru Forester now and I have my eyes on an Outback next. I’m in love with Mazda now, truly impressed with driving experience and premium feel & aesthetics. BUT huge issue for me is the A pillar & driver side mirror - worst blind spot ever :( Mazda CX-5 fits me better you might say however overall visibility (either Mazda models) can’t compete with Subaru Forester or Outback. As a city dweller :) and if I were rich, I’d still love a Mazda and yup, even the CX-50, mega blind spot and all. This is such a good looking vehicle and it feels solid.

I feel like the 2.5 S Preferred Plus would likely be the most popular trim if I were to recommend something below the top. For $3,740 more than the Select (for $31,940 total), you gain power seats, heated seats, LED headlights and the pano moonroof. I think the pano is a big deal for this car.

I agree that you should be able to disable the HUD and not have it enabled every time you restart the car. I’m hoping that Mazda would be able to easily fix that with a software update. However, a workaround is to lower the position so that it’s our of your line of sight. We did that for our 2021 Mazda CX-5 and it works well enough.

There’s also always load being sent to the rear diff on the CX5 and CX9. The CX50’s rear differential is borrowed from the CX30 and is not designed for constant load.

Gave me Kia Seltos dual clutch heating issues flashbacks, for sure. However, we don’t know exactly what he was doing to cause it. I don’t think, it’s an actual issue for real driving. Dave Coleman said the CX-50 uses a beefier powertrain designed for towing and no other review has mentioned this issue. In contrast to the Kia Seltos, where multiple reviews showed the DCT overheating from minor off-roading. You mention the CX-30, but it also uses the same turbo engine and no one has mentioned an AWD warning.

I like the Mazda style compared to Toyota, Honda, GM & Ford...but no Hybrid in the days of extremely high gas prices? That's why the Koreans are kicking it!

I prefer Mazda's simple, smooth, and elegant exterior design, so imo they peaked with the new Mazda 3. The CX5 design refresh is not different enough, and I don't like where the design language is going with the CX50 and CX60. I was so close to pulling the trigger on buying a CX5 GT Premium Package, the better fuel economy and driver assists made me go with the Tucson Hybrid Limited

In America it's called LATCH, Lower Anchors & Tethers for CHildren. ISOFIX is a European designation.

THANKS- GREAT REVIEW.. and I'm even MORE leaning toward the CX-50 IF I F I can get one WITHOUT the retard 20" wheels and moon roof- the rest is GREAT.. Although I think ALL infotainment crap needs to be OUTLAWED.. (I was tow driver for years and 87% of the accidents I worked, were CAUSED by some fool playing with a screen, phone or stereo instead of driving!! and after you clean up after some accidents where small kids and babies get killed by a stupid fool and a SCREEN-- you hate them too.) It's great for backing up or watching what is next to it-- but should be OFF in going forward.. PERIOD.. and NOT work at all unless you are STOPPED or backing up ONLY!!

Those fake vents- would be the perfect place to put OIL SLICKS, rear mounted guns, or other James Bond stuff!! :) Smoke screen would work well from there too.. :) Kidding- I LOVE the CX-50 and have been investigating it and many other vehicles and so far it's FAR ahead of everything else for MY needs.. The RIDE qualtiy you're talking about-- is partly BAD becasue of those RETaRD inspired 20" wheels and rubber band tires.. that's just STUPID on any vehicle but especially on a "sport" look vehicle they are going for. I also would have to AvOID or DO WITHOUT the moon roof-- that's just a stupid LEAK waiting to happen. THe rest I LOVE-- the 6 speed REAL transmission is great- no fake tranny without gears and fake "changes" by the computer.. that's ridiculous. The turbo is good for that car too- and even though it wears engines out FASTER-- I won't be driving it all that much anyway..
