    I have a 2024 CX50 TPP. Changed out the tires for Falken Wildpeak AT Trails in 245/50/20. I had a 21 CX30 TPP. Both times I chose these over a CX5 Signature and I have no regrets. I just like the exterior and interior of these over the CX5. The CX50 is sexy and rugged looking. I can’t say that about the CX5.

    Just traded in a 2021 CX-5 Signature (Lease)for a 2024 CX-50 Turbo Premium. Love the CX-50, its a better fit for me,a bit more room inside and has a few things the Signature didnt. I find the interior more user friendly, location of cup holders(Wife used to complain my sleeve with hot the cup straws on the Signature and also the location of the hvac controls is much easier to work and see.Dont have to look down so far and take my eyes away from the road.Longer wheel base = more comfortable ride, and it actually handles better than the Signature.Drivers foot well has more room, so if you're sitting in it longer its more comfortable.Just my observsations and opinion, being a large man the CX50 seats are more comfortable.

    I have had the '23 Meridian Edition since June with a trip to Minnesota last month and NEVER noticed that the door lower trim that wrapped around prevented crap from building up on the sills. Brilliant! Thanks for bringing that up. Today I added the splash guards, "completing" the Apex option - without the platform. We have a Thule instead. Less noise. Lockable, more aerodynamic for the win. Just can't put a tent up there. Meh, we tend to hotel it anyway. In Canada the M.E. is the top trim so it has some cool features I wish my M.E. had - like a heated steering wheel (which comes free this summer :^( ).

    I thought maybe the annoying seat belt chime was a response to IIHS' new seat belt reminder test criteria, but even their test is only looking for a chime after the car starts moving: "Visual and audible alerts should signal when a belt in the driver seat or occupied front passenger seat remains unfastened or is unbuckled while the vehicle is traveling 6 mph or faster. These alerts should begin within 30 seconds between 6 mph and 25 mph and within 2 seconds above 25 mph."

So I have had mixed results wit cars made in Japan. I bought the 2024 Mazda CX-50 Turbo PP -- terracotta interior. The seatbelt chime and that wonky-crazy display stuff can easily be bypassed by buying a buckle extender on Amazon. It eliminated the chime! Like, $13 for two...perfect fit/looks OEM. And it makes it 10x easier to attach/detach the seatbelt (esp if you are on the thicker side, like me). Also, with the turbo...I run 91-octane (non ethanol) pump gas. For "full boogie" -- add some Lucas octane booster at fill up. It REALLY uncorks the turbo's power and makes this car run sweet.

    CX5 is still better. You lose headroom in this, feels cheaper inside, American built vs Japan, and that rear suspension bounces too much. Plus it is just too expensive for a "wagon".

    @@MicahMuzio It's just a safety practice, in case the vehicle lurches forward or backward upon startup. Plus, fiddling with a seatbelt while you're already in motion isn't a good idea.

    @@Stinger430 That's where I'm confused. In nearly every other brand of vehicle I can start the engine, adjust my seat, make sure my kiddo is buckled, sort out the infotainment, then put on my seatbelt prior to departure without the vehicle dinging insessently. It's an odd behavior that only Mazda seems to embrace. As for lurching on startup, modern vehicles simply don't do that. But if they did, the NHTSA would promptly issue a recall.

  • @Stinger430

    @Stinger430

    @@MicahMuzio Yeah, the lurching thing is an old-timey occurence for sure, but I'm sure that's the source of the logic behind it. Just doesn't happen anymore. Agreed that Mazda's chiming goes on forever, but avoiding the racket is as simple as buckling up before bringing that engine to life. The old way (which I like) is to make all your adjustments, strap in, and then start the car. Cheers to you and the Fam Micah!

    It's kind of weird but Mazada thinks it's in the BMW, Mercedes, Audi and or Porche premium class of vehicle but that's not true. It clearly belongs with Toyota, Honda and Subaru in the mid-class.

    They aren't presuming to think they're in the luxury class. There's also a "premium" segment in between mainstream and luxury. There's brands like Buick and Acura that play in this more premium space. Mazda is still price competitive in the mainstream class while offering a more premium experience over competitors. They don't have a luxury division to protect as say Toyota does with Lexus. That's why Toyota's have cheaper interiors.

    @Josh-179 problem with Mazda is that a lot of their 'premium experience' is in what you can see and that's about it. Their heated steering wheel only heats in certain spots, their native UI is years behind. Their driver assistance aren't nearly advanced enough. Their memory drivers seat aren't always linked to mirrors. Rear air vents are not roof/pillar mounted so they blow at your knees. It's surface level nice, checks off the boxes but not well thought out.
