I was at the ADGs, and even before the winner was announced, when they just showed some clips from EEAAO, the applause was RAPTUROUS. Pretty safe to say it's the passion pick winner...

It doesn't matter since the second (Banshees..) and fourth (Tar) best chance [Fabelmans is ranked third but wasn't even nominated at BAFTA] to win BP at the Oscars essentially got shut out at BAFTAS save for Original Screenplay and Actor/Actress to Banshees.. Keep the eye on the main prize which is BD, BP at the Oscars which is all but a lock for EEAAO. And it goes without saying AQOTWF isn't winning BP at the Oscars. Edit:. No idea why I listed Top Gun as the 3rd best chance. 🤔🤔

@@ras_732 I think it's impossible to be top 3 without a nomination at the PGA.
I am usually pretty invested in the movies I’d like to see win at the Oscars, but with EEAAO, I’m invested as if I was part of the crew who made it. It’s just such a special film. Lighting in a bottle.
EEAAO has won so far every guild nominated: • Make Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild: Best Contemporary Makeup in a Feature Length Motion Picture [WON] • Set Decorators Society of America: Fantasy/Science Fiction Film [WON] • Society Of Composers And Lyricists: Outstanding Score for an Independent Film [WON] • Art Directors Guild: Excellence in Production Design for a Fantasy Film [WON] • Directors Guild of America: Outstanding Directing - Feature Film [WON] The film is beloved by the industry. If its win PGA, SAG and WGA, I can see it winning BP at the Oscars. Hopefully.
I had a feeling they would win, especially since they are among only 3 people to be nominated at all 4 precursors (Martin McDonagh being the other). Since 2005, every single Directing Oscar winner has at least been nominated at all 4 precursors.
I feel like EEAAO is practically guaranteed 3 or 4 Oscars at least now.
Here’s the spoiler for the Bafta: its all white!!!
I knew it. Spielberg was just a Golden Globe thing the same way Kidman was. If it wasn't for the Globes, we would have always known Daniels were a lock for director which they are!

@@Awardshq Lol true. But then again, we always knew BAFTA was where EEAAO would struggle the most. Losing where you were considered an underdog (for example: CODA losing Picture at Critics Choice last year) and losing where you were expected to have a strong chance at (like PTA losing WGA last year) is different.
The BAFTAs were … interesting. Can’t wait to see the reactions!
looks like baftas aren’t big fans of eeaao. looks like best film’s gonna go to all quiet though, which has no shot at the oscars. and the best editing win for everything everywhere might be a sign of an upset over top gun

Why did I bust into happy tears at your reaction?! I'm so glad!
If it’s not Daniels, then it’ll be Todd Field. Spielberg is looking less and less likely as the season goes on. I say this because the last two movies to win the Oscar but not the DGA (“Life of Pi” and “Parasite”) also won the London Film Critics Circle Award. Is there a connection? Probably not. But it’s the closest thing to a possible secondary factor we got. But yeah this is looking REALLY good for the Daniels. ❤
People in this comment section freaking out about BAFTAs have me cracking up. How did everyone not see these picks a mile away? They voted for British/European films at BAFTA - that’s not surprising.
@daikaizouku1468
Жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you for reminding folks that the British Academy of Film and TV Arts Award is a more regional award (at least compared to the Oscars) dedicated mostly (not exclusively) to British and European films. They even have a separate category for Best British Film, lol XD. All good, each region should celebrate the best filmmakers of their respective area. Not to mention, the BAFTAs are a bit more traditional in what their members consider good cinema and a wild, innovative film that include among other things buttplugs and multiverse jumping would really be so left-field for them XD (and it's okay).

All Quiet won 7 awards for Best Film and Director and Keoghan won Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs. Do you think that might impact your prediction of Everything Everywhere winning Best Picture? I'd certainly like to see Fabelmans win Director, Supporting Actor for Hirsch and Original Score and I'd like to see Banshees win Picture, Original Screenplay and Editing.
