    How much does the older alternators used w/ICE automobiles compare to the AC Induction Motors used by Tesla automobiles??

  • @sodiumvapor13

    @sodiumvapor13

    They both have 3-phase stators. But that's it for similarities. Car alternators have around 12-poles in their stators (to generate high frequency AC with lower RPMs) while all AC Tesla motors are 4-pole. Car alternators also employ brushes and slip rings to transfer the DC field excitation power to their rotor. All Tesla AC motors are brushless and are controlled directly by a 3-phase AC inverter, much like the variable frequency drives used in industrial induction motors.

    I've heard in comments form ktber videos that the Plaid motors are rated up to 500hp each but Tesla only limits it to 340hp each. Is this true? Could someone verify this.

    Please understand, Tesla regulates certain abilities because only the negative aftermath would make it to the news. For example, unlock full power...the headline would just be "Tesla batteries deplete faster than ever." And people would think the range is gone and it could really heighten range anxiety.

    What a completely stupid ass argument! I hate how people want to make all these statements its just so dumb to put one side of the world VS another. Humans for being considered so smart are actually some of the dumbest forms of life ever! We cant even realize that we are all the same so we all fight these stupid wars that are started by these rich dickhead politicians who are nowhere near the front lines. You claim that California beats Europe? Maybe do some research as to where these people in California came from! The majority came from or their families originated in EUROPEAN COUNTRIES!

    They could always make a dragster version with a smaller "fuel tank" if they are just runing quarter miles races. So, it wouldn't require nearly as many batteries. I get your point, but it's still impressive power-to-weight ratio.
