2022 Hyundai Elantra N review // This or Kona N?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#ElantraN
#HyundaiElantraN
#CoupleCarReview
This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Hyundai Elantra N high-performance compact sedan. The Elantra N has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual or an available 8-speed dual clutch transmission, 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. It’s FWD only and Premium fuel is recommended for better performance, but you can use regular. It gets about 489 km/304 miles to every fill. Not only does the Elantra N sound great especially in Sport or N mode, it feels planted and composed in the city or on the highway making your daily commute a lot of fun. The red button on the steering wheel engages the over-boost mode upping the power by 10 horsepower for 20 seconds at a time. With electronic limited slip differential, an electronically controlled suspension and five drive modes to choose from Eco, Normal, Sport, N and Custom, the Elantra N is a blast to drive. The Elantra N is aggressive looking and has a strong presence on the road. The red and black accents, the blacked-out grille, red brake calipers and N badging give it a sportier vibe. It has front and rear N exclusive bumpers, a wing-type high gloss black rear spoiler, large exhaust pipes, 19” Pirelli low profile summer tires and a tire repair kit. The Elantra offers 5.3” of ground clearance. This sedan has a driver focused cockpit with sport seats that cradle your body offering a lot of support and comfort for longer drives. It comes with a leatherette and suede interior with blue stitching, blue accents and N badging. The Elantra N has plenty of standard features including a 10.25” touchscreen and digital driver display, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, a wireless charger, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a Bose audio system and a sunroof. Some features the Elantra N is missing include, a power driver and passenger seat, a passenger height adjustment, ventilated fronts seats, driver seat memory and heated rear seats. The Elantra N has only one trim, the manual is priced at $39,653 CAD/$32,150 USD
and the DCT $41,253 CAD/$33,650 USD.

Plus it is ready to track pretty hard out of the box. It would dominate the others right off the lot. I think that's one of the big selling points for me but the N may not be the best if you never want to drive it hard.

Kona N is easier to get into and out of. The higher ride height is better in snow climates. And, you can actually carry more types of things in the Kona. Hyundai has much better reliability and warranties than VW. You can average much higher mpg at lower costs, even in the city, but using top tier regular gas and staying off the turbo. I own the Kona N, and get 30-34 mpg using smart driving technics. 🧐🤗 Another great review, and Andrea once again color coordinated her wardrobe. 😇👍

The Elantra N Line I think has the drive mode button on that empty space of the screenon the left. Anyway its been a month with my N and I love it. I am not too sure about taking it on long road trips only because of the bucket seats, the lack of lumbar support can get annoying during long drives. The back seat has plenty of leg room. Gas mileage is great, I've managed to get 7 lt / 100 kms by driving it in normal mode for regular drives, there are some who've managed to get even better gas mileage. This is a very practical daily driver that can transform into this monster with the switch of a button, kind of like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide :D

I personally like the standard Elantra styling. A futuristic, aero dynamic shape with(what I think is) elegent styling. Citroen-esque minus the crazy stuff inside the car. The worse thing about them is the grill, which isn't that bad. The N makes it meaner, without going overboard. I say kudos to Hyundai for styling. I think I would go for dct Elantra is I had to choose between those two. The Kona is nice, but I like the sedan handling more for a fast car. On a side note a guy I watched on yt years ago had Dodge aries wagon with a 2.4litre turbo engine. He installed a dishwaher delay switch to keep the waste gate closed for 10 seconds. He said it both a fast and reliable workhorse car.

I've never understood why people want a power seat in a sporty car. Manual is so much faster & how many people are you really going to share your Elantra N with? Also my short father just had his power seat fail in his Ridgeline in the lowest position & they can't get the parts to fix it & the cheapest they can replace the seat is over $2000 CAD.

Looks like you’re in Niagara-on-the-Lake? At least some photos looked like it. I’ve been a Toyota guy for 27 years and owned/leased 10 new Toyotas during this time. I just can’t bring myself to look at any other vehicles at the present time. Both Kia and Hyundai have made some and great improvements and leaps forward in technology, but I am still very leery of their long-term reliability. I’m afraid my next vehicle will be another Toyota. Believe it or not I’m looking either at my third Sienna van or I might even consider a new Corolla Cross Hybrid, when they become available here in Canada. As I get older I am considering a bit of a downsizing in my vehicle footprint.

I own the base model Elantra with the 6 speed manual, which I love driving. The N would be more fun to drive with the manual transmission IMO, but with the current price of fuel, I'll stick with my 5.5 L/100km at 113 kph (70 mph) highway cruising. Yes, I'm getting better fuel economy than what the EPA estimated.

We had a poll about this in forums and about 6% use regular. No harm but when you have track days use premium for added power. Its only $5 a fillup more so why not enjoy more performance.

That’s messed up! On the U.S. model, you can’t get a sunroof with the manual. For Hyundai doing that I would not buy it and spend my money on another car brand that offers a sunroof with a manual transmission.

@@NBABY-J I love the "it has a bigger turbo" which, yes it does, slightly. But you know - that's not what determines the speed, acceleration etc alone right? A car could have a bigger turbo and still - shocker - be SLOWER. Crazy thoughts here man. Gearing, wheelbase, weight, stance, center of gravity, etc all play into how a car will accelerate, transform raw potential power into movement. But, I bet you've never thought of that. Oh, so the EN in real life runs 13.1 to 13.3 ? So about the same as a Veloster N then ? WOW - you got me there I guess ? How's that 0-60 time working out for you? Yea dude - totally "gaps" the VN by being slower in the 0-60 and according to you, tying the VN in the 1/4 mile. Well played indeed.

30 degrees outside today (which is not actually hot but .. black car, I could lose some weight) and washing the car at hand place. My '21 Elantra, now if I had gotten the Jetta or Civic I would be absolutely saying, "no no .. look to history and old fashion and conservative is what people eventually will respect more" .. but I got the Elantra and was scared to look at it for a month because of what all the other brands said about the look of it .. too futuristic, do you want to drive a space ship. Well I have been getting more and more compliments, which is the opposite of what usually happens; even a big black truck stopped as I was drying and said, "that is a very slick looking car, what is it .. Hyundai .. and he said it just stands out as something a leap ahead"; and my brother heard two kids stop and talk and one asked what it was and his friend said, "well imagine a Hyundai and a Lamborghini had a baby .. this is the result" .. so not sure if a compliment but certainly people are noticing it.

Ugly car, it would have been a decent coupe if you delete the angles on the doors, make the spoiler a little smaller and tuck in the nose a bit. The only thing it has going for it is the hp and that engine most likely will not age well with Hyundai's history of oil burning.
