    MTB Savant I struggle with owning a bike like this. It’s super fun to ride and mess around on, but it’s slower than every bike I currently own. I usually equate speed and fun together. That’s why I haven’t whipped out the CC and purchased it yet. Maybe it’s time to get a bike that just puts a smile on my face. I mean it is the main reason why I started riding - to have fun!

    The SB140 is more comparable to the bronson rather than the 5010. The SB140 is a lot longer than the 5010 and is more gravity oriented. I heard it feels bigger than the bronson even with the 10mm less in the rear.

    Thanks for the video JC - Been waiting on this one. Would like to know how the bike handles the rough stuff compared to other 120 - 140mm travel bikes? Im considering moving to this from a V2 Bronson that is 150mm so im wondering how much (if any) capability for downhill rough trails I might loose.

  • @jctrails

    @jctrails

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Rob. The new lower link VPP gives the bike a feeling of plushness that is not usually found on a 130 bike. I would say the limiting factor on this S build is the fox 34, if you spec it with a Pike or even w/ a 36 this thing would rip thru some tech. Comparing this to the V2 Bronson - it definitely climbs better due to having less travel and a steeper STA, but the Bronson does have that extra travel to get you out of trouble if things get out of hand. Hope this helps.

  • @robgray1149

    @robgray1149

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@jctrails really helpful JC thanks so much. Do you think the added reach and wheelbase in comparison to the V2 Bronson helps make up for less travel on the steeper /rough stuff? I'm going to demo and I'm hoping it helps to compensate. Thanks again for the reply and for the review

  • @jctrails

    @jctrails

    4 жыл бұрын

    Rob Gray the modern geo does give the 5010 a more capable feel, to a limit. Once the speed picks up the suspension can get overwhelmed in rougher sections so you may have to tap on the brakes or be more selective on your line choice.

  • @PolarityPhoto

    @PolarityPhoto

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@jctrails Thanks JC - Looking at the geo difference in large (Bronson V2 vs 5010 V4), the 5010 is 30mm longer reach, 35mm longer wheel base. Just 0.3 steeper head tube, 3mm shorter chainstay, 3 degree steeper seat tube. So when paired with wide bars I think it might end up more composed at speed downhill - Might just have to pick some lines in the rough because of 20mm less travel. Anyway, hopefully will be demoing one in the next few weeks. Thanks again!

    I'll say this - I rode brianhead on a 150mm front and back bike and had zero problem on any of the big hits on the jump line, and on the double blacks I survived, but was beat the hell up with so much arm pump when I got done. For the trails in st george it's more than enough. Handled the big jumps and rock drop on the Barrels trail without a sweat.

    I'm trying to decide whether to get the new 5010 (I currently have a 2016 5010) OR a 2019 Bronson. I rode the 2019 Bronson today, I didnt really notice any climbing disadvantage to the 2016 5010, I did like the suspension, i could tell it would be great on 3+ ft drops but for average trial riding small bumps its not much difference. I didnt think it turned as well as my 5010, and my 5010 was certainly more snappier. I will be demoing a new 2021 5010, I wonder if it will win my heart over the Bronson and/or my current 5010 . im 5'10 so stuck on getting a medium or large, my current stumpy is a large with a 455mm reach and feels a tad bit too big. The 5010 medium is 450mm reach so you think medium?

    Hey John I like my bikes to feel a little bit big so the large 5010 actually felt perfect to me. Does the large Stumpy feel too big to you when pedaling?

    @@jctrails yeah it definitely feels a tad bit to big, I am on the lighter side so its a lot harder to throw around in the air, i think im gonna get a medium. What do you think?

    Why do american's say "Shram"? I notice this in a lot in videos. Is it just because people got used to saying Shimano that they think Sram is pronounced Shram?
