One can hope they will continue down this path. However I think we are in a sweet spot right now of price to performance value with the brand. I think 3-5 years from now they will be priced similarly to other mainstream manufacturers.

There is a large amount of dust from the factory brakes. Constantly dirty. I’m 2500 miles in and other than the poor rear view mirror angle I don’t have any complaints about the car itself. It’s a commuter / family car for my wife &1 kid. It is as practical as my 09 Corolla. Actually has more rear leg room. 100x as fun to drive. Gas mileage is around 25 combined with premium gas is not cheap. Normal mode is like a regular car with a performance engine. @@abhijitnair650 The manual exhaust is a bit louder. That being said; it is still quite loud. Hyundai used a different exhaust setup and you don’t get that crazy loud pop. Now part of the lesser sound is the DCT shifts so quickly you don’t get the same up and down shift rumbles when shifting the manual. The DCT is gurgles and burbles during just regular driving and is very aggressive when throttled hard.

I’d really like one of these, however I sold Luxury cars for 15 years and learned a lot about cars and how much the depreciate over time. I sold Hyundai’s for the last 5 years of my 20 years selling cars. I was with Hyundai when they came out with this model. It was a sales dog at first. Them they got smart and took it off the Accent platform and put it on the Elantra Sport platform with the independent rear suspension! Hiring Albert Bierman was a brilliant idea!!! That man knows how to do performance cars! I bought my wife an Elantra Limited in 2015 before I retired and it has been great! Have only had to do regular maintenance. Never needed that great warranty! New tires, battery, front break pads, wipers and that’s it!! Just past 60,000 miles and all is well! Love my Hyundai! Pugi Hyundai, in Downers Grove, I’ll. Treated my customers like the luxury dealers I worked for the 1st 15 years of my career! Thanks Pugi!

But out of the box stock for stock nothing in class can beat the EN for the price.

This makes me so sad that the Elantra GT N / i30N won't be coming to the states anymore. I picked up the 2020 N-Line on Black Friday and it's been such a joy to drive. Something a little more practical than the Veloster but with N performance would do so well in the US market, I feel.

The DCT feels literally like a stick shift. FYI. I sold my 2017 Charger Scat Pack with a 6.4 and bought the Veloster. Definitely the Charger is faster. But, the Veloster is more fun and practical car. This is my first Hyundai and I don’t think is going to be the last one. I hope Hyundai keep the N line alive.

I got to test-drive the manual months ago alone. Sales guy said, “Keep it under 100.” Holy balls...what a car. Things like interior trim mean nothing once you are moving along. The steering, the tailorability, and the hilarious exhaust made me feel like a child on my go-kart. Does it lack room in the back? Does it have what looks like a lack of maturity in the design? All forgiven. While I can’t justify the $600/mo these days for one, it is still far more appealing than many cars twice the price. DCT must be amazing.

@@DjNikGnashers I see this is a opinion based reply. I’m very aware of the ZF 8 speed and the legacy it holds. However, a DCT out performs a automatic transmission easily. A Regular auto transmission can not downshift like a DCT and has more drivetrain loss than a DCT does. The torque converter and planetary gear sets are to blame for that.

How does the transmission work when in SPORT or N Mode, as far as shifting throughout the rev range? Is it left entirely to the driver to shift at any desired point throughout the range (as if driving a true manual transmission), or does the onboard computer interfere with driver input at certain revs if no input is detected from the driver?
