I actually went to dealers and drove all three cars, and I bought a Veloster N w/ Performance Package. Hyundai said their goal was "smiles per miles", they totally delivered! Not only is it fun to drive but the tech is really impressive for the money. I personally love the button on the door handles that allows you simply push the button to unlock the doors or lock the doors, no need to ever touch the key fob... just leave it in your pocket or bag.

Golf R suffers from a lack of an LSD. those 2 other cars have them. Even the GTI has one. One reason why I went with a Canadian Performance edition Mk7 GTI with a tune. The R's AWD advantage disappears when exiting a corner when compared to a GTI with similar power and an LSD. If you're brave enough to void your warranty and install a wave track LSD on the Golf R it will hang with the Type R and Hyundai with ease.

It also contributed in that turn in you praised so much, but you can’t argue that it isn’t the most potent car here. I’m also a firm believer the Golf R’s secret sauce is DSG and that it simply can’t be beat as a daily.. Period. Put some sticky rubber on it and it’s a legit weapon. Lastly I’m stunned with the i30N. Look, some of you have laughed at Hyundai for a long time. Meanwhile, as an "old head", I have been doing my research. Since the beginning of this century, Hyundai has been slowly and quietly working it's way into the lineup with top-name car companies. They have their own foundry, and they also spent almost 200 million on metallurgy. I first bought a brand new top-of-the-line Sonata back in 2006. It had the 3.3 liter V6 that was pushing 237hp. It even had a sport-shift feature, but it would only make the shifts near redline. It could and would beat a base 525 BMW that had 227 hp. The ex traded it in with almost 140,000 miles, and it still ran like brand new. I currently have a Accent GLS as my daily driver. That one is about to turn 200,00 miles. It doesn't burn oil and it runs like a top. Due to the mileage, it was time to renew suspension, timing belt, and ignition parts. Now it's read for another 100,000 miles. I am currently at adding another high-performance compact to the garage, and all three of these cars are on the list. The bang for the buck is the N. Plus, if I want to void my warranty, I can do a few minor upgrades with the money saved, and beat BOTH the other cars. Don't sleep on Hyundai.
