The World's Best-Sounding Drag Race: Lexus LFA vs Porsche Carrera GT vs Audi RS3 - w/ Jason Cammisa

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The best-sounding cars of all time have inline-5s and V-10s, and so we lined up the 2023 Audi RS3 with the Lexus LFA and a Porsche Carrera GT!
This episode of Ultimate Drag Race Replay is brought to you by WeatherTech: www.weathertech.com/?...
First, Jason races the new Audi RS3 against an S3 to show how much quicker the 5-cylinder Audi is than its 4-cylinder brother.
The RS3 has the world's only remaining 5-cylinder engine, so Jason raced it against the first-ever production gasoline 5-cylinder - in its semifinal form in a 1991 Audi 200 20V Quattro.
Then it's time for a rev-off argument with Randy Pobst in a Porsche Carrera GT. Plus, an objective measurement of which is louder: CGT or LFA?
With special thanks to 034 Motorsport for bringing out their Audi S4!

6:52 Musicology student here: It's really cool that you explained the part about the engine producing a musical interval. However you got it slightly wrong: the perfect 5th is produced by a 6 cylinder. That interval can sound agressive, which is why it is basically the entire identity of Rock music. The 5 and 10 cylinder engines produce a major 3rd, a very harmonious interval which can be percieved as "beautiful" and is why major chords sound like they do. I'm deeply in love with that sound (and specifically the LFA), so I didn't want to nitpick but my nerd brain felt the need to correct it.

The LFA was always going to be slower 0-60 but has a higher top end and would be faster around a track because it understeers less on exit than an AWD car. If you have exit understeer you have to compromise on entry and mid-corner to ensure you stay on the track.

Randy is a great driver but you don't need to be at his level to enjoy Carrera GT safely. It is a fantastic car. I got to drive one at Willow Springs big track back in 2005 and after 1 lap I already hit 160 mph on the front straight with out pushing too hard. Cort Wagnor a well known Porsche factory driver pushed it a bit harder and hit 180 mph on the front straight. Pretty amazing if you ask me...

As much as I love the LFA and CGT, I’m gonna have to disagree. Anyone who’s driven a roots style supercharged V8 knows you get the best of both worlds, the high pitched mechanical whine coupled with the low guttural V8 exhaust sound. That’s probably a tie for me with these V10s for amazing sound and drama. Love all the new Hagerty/Cammisa content!

Wow. That Audi 200 gone like a rocket ...the sound and look of the LFA is awesome. But the Carrera GT... Great video. Thanks a lot for those content

That old school Audi smoking an LFA brought bittersweet tears to my eyes. Love the LFA but that thing was INSANE. Been thinking about going from an S3 -> RS3 and honestly this video kinda sold me on it

@@boxoffisa I was thinking of doing a stage 1 tune but in my area used Porsche’s have come down so a new RS3 is priced about the same as a 718 or 981 Cayman. Kinda torn now because Porsche is my dream brand, but I want a fully loaded new RS3…

@@NiquidFox I have driven the Rs3 2018 edition .The inline 5 never ever gets old man. Its basically a baby R8/Huracan every time you floor it. It even gets more fun when you mod the RS3. The engine sound becomes insane when you floor it at stage 1. Most definitely one of the best sport sedans on the planet. It can gap so many cars at stage 1 . It is insanely fun to ride .
