There will never be a car like this again. Have owned mine for over 3 months and just love it. It keeps me on my toes and find myself looking out for potholes because of the stiffer suspension and expensive tires, but that makes me more vigilant and I enjoy the challenge! I love the ground clearance and ride height. It has plenty of power for FWD. It’s a perfect DD. I’ve had a 2008 SI, 2014 WRX, Fiesta ST, Mustang Mach 1, and THIS is the most fun car I’ve ever owned.

I'm also a metro Detroit driver and I had a Civic Si on order for months (with markup) but I test drove a Kona N yesterday and it impressed me so much I drove home with it same day. There wasn't even a markup and I only paid $1k over what I would've paid for the Si! most accurate review of the Kona N such a underrated car this car is literally the best car I've ever been in... so damn fun the look on peoples faces when u let it pop.... like no one expects it and the cars that i have kept up with or beaten is surprising... i wanted a performance blue but unfortunately it wasnt available and the dealer only had a red one but i think i like the red one the most it sticks out and is the brightest red ive even seen on a car it fits it pretty well
Used to work at a Hyundai dealership. This is definitely the best car Hyundai makes for your buck. Driving a decent amount of Hyundais in my time there, this is the most comfy and nice car of their's to drive in my opinion. Perfect amount of horsepower and perfect for a family.
Phenomenal review. The car really is this good. Unbelievable performance for the price and if you live in an area with bad roads the ground clearance is great. Elantra N you can even pull into a driveway without scraping the front bumper.
Great review! Awesome to see it getting great praise and def proud to own this amazing N car!

Great video! Just came home from my Sunday morning thrashing ( like what you are doing in the video) of my Kona N and saw you finally made a review on one. I'm 50 and have owned all kinds of cars , type R's(not civics) , Mustangs, Camaros, CRX, etc. This is by far the funnest vehicle I have ever had. And like you say it does an excellent job with the split personality thing. The harder you push these things the more fun they are. I'm sure you were on 3 wheels a couple times 😂!
Bought one of these puppies. Your POV was a part of what influenced me. Thanks for doing these.
saw one of these things at a stoplight, but i heard it launch control first. i was like... huh? watched it take off wide open and never thought id look at a Hyundai like that
Owned my 23 since October, and still just so happy I bought this thing. I still love the GRC and the CTR, but this thing just speaks to me.
Finally!!! Love this Kona!!!! Great review!!!!

Facts man all I get is stares “what kind of car is that bro?” 😎 no one else in my local area has one
Kona N has shortest Wheelbase among all N cars while being based on facelifted i30N/Veloster N platform instead of being in Elantra N platform - this means best turn-in and rotation among all N cars. If you driven all three, you can see that car philosophy kinda changed with Elantra N (more focus in medium speed sweeping corner than short corner because that's wayyy faster in track and a lot stable) but as thopher mentions this car (and cars based on i30N/Veloster N) turns in and rotate a lot better (especially off throttle fwd oversteer) because they used WRC style short damper stroke in the rear so that people can throw the car in corner which I prefer for road. Also Veloster N has last gen turbo turbine hence the less power but that is not the case for FL i30N and Kona N so you are not losing much on power. Also I do agree with Topher on DCT, both of my cars are manual in US, E91 and Evora, but DCT is so superior for price point and manual is so average... I feel like you get more out of DCT because DCT is so good. Lastly, I agree that big missed opportunity is missing adaptive crusie, which is actually a selling point over Elantra N in Korea. I would have bought this car as Daily in US if they had Adaptive Cruise like Korea.... WHY HYUNDAI WHY

This seems almost perfect for what I’ve been looking for. I want a fun, reliable hatch but i also live in a area with rough winters and shitty roads that seem to always be under construction so this seems like a better option then others. I also wanted a manual but my girl can’t drive one so atleast i get paddle shifters with this. Ive been looking at Civic hatchbacks but i think I’d prefer this especially cuz there’s not already a thousand of them in my town. There’s enough Civics on the road. Honestly this car is so slept on its insane I never saw one on the road yet. For the price you can get it at brand new and what you get with it is truly incredible. Most cars like this are so much more expensive. The design is edgy, it's got a lot of room in it compared to other turbo 4s. Only thing is I hate the fake hood vents idk why they did that make them functional
That startup chime sounds so much like Mario Kart
I had a 2020 Kona 1.6t limited AWD that I really enjoyed. I was in an accident and ended up replacing the Kona with a Volvo XC60. The Volvo is nice but it’s not very “fun”. Test drive one and find out! I've always been a GTI fan, have driven and ridden in several, and ultimately bought the Kona N. Upgrade the tires, add a rear motor mount or Powerflex torque bushing, upgrade the plugs, and slap on a piggyback or tune and you have a ridiculously fun and amazing car at a very good price point. I've done those mods to mine, and having had a good amount of performance cars previously including AWD sedans making ~560hp, and I honestly think the Kona N in its current state is the most fun out of anything and provides the most satisfying overall driver's experience. All said and done with vehicle cost, tax, and mods included well under 40k and drives like something an entire price class or two above it.

I would, the closest thing to me right now is the Elantra N. The same dealer had a used Kona N but it was gone with in days. My GTI is tuned right now. So maybe the Kona N is the car to get. I keep watching the local dealer to test drive one.
Hyundai builds a vehicle at every level for every price range except expensive. I don't think a single one of them is a poor choice.
Kona N DCT vs Elantra N DCT which would you pick 🤔

Kona N, just for the thrills. But if you need rear seat room for kids, gotta go with the Elantra N, the Kona is tight back there.
This would be for a hardcore Hyundai fan and they need a daily driver suv that feels like a veloster n or Elantra n

I do find the compact design combined with extra ground clearance very nice for a daily driver lol

This is quicker and much better handling.
No leather seats? No moon roof?
Does it have adaptive dampeners?
I ran one of these in my 16 accord v6 sedan and it was close but I end up pulling away. quick little crossover!
