Love how you dont have bias when you review cars. So many reviewers would say "I wish it was faster" or "its too slow" but you understand its a hybrid not an enthusiast car and you say it too

I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.

Thanks for the review. I'm considering swapping my Subaru Legacy for a Sonata hybrid. The Legacy drives better, hands down, as even on all-weathers it can get you from A to B no matter what road conditions Mother Nature throws at it (I've driven to work through blizzards and hurricanes), but I like the look of the new Sonatas and they get almost twice the mpg. (Even with the CVT, I only see ~27 mpg in my Legacy.)

@@wg5331 I actually wound up going with a Tucson hybrid in the end. I do still like the Sonata, but the ground clearance is too low for where I live. The hybrid Tucson had the clearance I need and AWD, even if it's still not as sure-footed in snow/ice as a Subaru. The real-world fuel economy isn't as good as the EPA stated 37mpg overall, but I am still getting better mileage than the Legacy, and it's more equivalent in cargo space to an Outback.

Ok post review, my take. I don't like the solar panel, it's a gimmick, I want my sunroof. So that's a knock. I love the tech but watching you drive in POV I think the blind spot displays are going to annoy me. So they aren't a pro over the standard blindspot warning indicators on the Honda. I do like the 360 view however I wish Honda had it. Thanks for reviewing the sound system in both. I'm wondering based on your verdict for the Bose system if the Honda unbranded is compatible. Sound is important to me, I'll probably add an aftermarket Sub anyhow. And lastly I still can't get past the stigma of the Hyundai brand, I drove ponies in my youth and still have the feeling if you drive a Hyundai it's because you can't afford a Honda. If you had said the ride was more like the accord I would put that aside but you didn't. Of course I will be test driving both myself but I'm leaning towards Honda at the moment. Thanks for the great review!

A generic hybrid alternated between gas and electric power, where the engine is used as a generator to charge the large battery pack so the car can run on some electric power at lower speeds. A plug in hybrid does the same, however, it has an even larger battery pack which you charge (via a charging cable provided by the company) and you can drive strictly on electric at higher speeds for an extended time. Most plug in hybrids have an electric only range of 25-45 miles up to about 80 mph (depending on the brand) where as a generic hybrid can give you 1-3 miles solely on electric at lower speeds.

Rather have a panaramic glass roof or sunroof. I thought your thoughts on driving feel and quality of the overall car were most interesting and revealing of you as a reviewer and I subscribed because of it! I love the French design flair of the latest Hyundais. Slap a Citroen badge on this new Sonata and you're good. It's even not very powerful. The perfect D-segment French sedan.

Could the stiffer ride be from the tires? I know a lot of these hybrids come with higher tire pressure for fuel economy so it wouldn't suprise me if Hyundai pumped them up high.

Hyundai Cars are shipped from the MFG with 50PSI in the Tires. If the Dealership doesn't lower the Pressure to the Recommended 32 or 34PSI, the ride Quality and performance are Skewed. This happens all the time, and Who checks tire pressure from the Dealership...Except ME !

Even if this is a 192 hp, it’s still more than my 2017 Hyundai Elantra limited which I’m planning on getting rid of so I will consider something like this, or the Dodge Charger Gt.

It doesn't have a torque converter. Where the TC would be is where the electric motor is.
