2021 Ford E-350 4x4 Flatbed Van from Ujoint Offroad (V4 2.0) | Inside Line
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Part truck, part van, V4 version 2.0 is one of the coolest Ford E-350’s we’ve ever come across. Built by the E-Series experts at Ujoint Offroad in Fletcher, North Carolina, this 2021 Ford Cutaway was built to do it all. From an all-aluminum bed to a massive 7.3L Godzilla V-8 under the hood, this 4x4 E-Series defies convention in every possible way. On this Inside Line, our Senior Off-Road Editor Ali Mansour catches up with Ujoint owner Chris Steuber to find out just how this one-off build came to be.

To start my project, I went to the dealer and ordered a $50,000 truck. Good story, bro.

More like 35k. Most people don't know that you can still order an E series
Love the look of it. It would be a cool UTV, ATV, dirt bike or motorcycle hauler.
This is an amazing set up. I live in Australia and flat beds (utes) are very popular purely for versatility. The number of options is huge and it’s a great set up for 4wd touring.

I like the design on our Utes, low to the ground for easy use. Here in the USA, pickup trucks are made too high for easy in and out.

Chris is a walking encyclopedia of the best of the best regarding these van builds ! I love the 7.3 big block, but I won't give up the subdued Lamborghini sound of my E350 6.8 V10.

That's awesome! Ujoint kills it every time. We are very lucky to be in the same state as they are.
I remember his first posts about this on Expo Portal like 10 years ago... always loved his design and concept. Awesome to see it come this far.
Best looking "Tr-an" I've seen...
Its a VUCK! Thats what we call our old 83' flatbed van.
That is just one bad ass trail rig guys. Love that bed, again.

Amazing. What a dream machine. I love that covered-wagon canopy from V1, too. I'd use this to carry kayaks or my little boat out to lakes out West where I live and go camping and fishing. Absolutely love it, great work, I'll be daydreaming about this for a long time and wishing for a long lost rich uncle to leave me a fortune.

That's almost as stupid as buying a jeep truck and then putting a camper shell on it, what's the purpose? Like some else pointed out your essentially turing it back in a van at that point. Lame.

That’s a beautiful rig! Very interesting pivot style bed too. Would love something similar with just a hair longer cab section. But honestly that think might be perfection as is.

This would be awesome to put a camper on the back of
Cool looking rig. Just wondering what the advantage is to a van front? Seems like a lot of work to finish the back of the cab and convert it to 4x4 when you could just order a reg cab or super cab c&c F350 already 4x4 and build from there? Not knocking it just curious what the reason is? A shorter nose is about the only benefit I could think...

The owner builds E-Series vans for a living. He also already had a good assortment of parts (including the bed) leftover from his last build.
@christopherbrown6697
Жыл бұрын
Overall length. You can have an 8 foot bed on a van chassis that is shorter than a short bed single cab pickup. In this era of absurdly long Super Duty crew cabs with tiny beds, it feels like the only way to get a useful truck that you can parallel park in a city.
This should be a thing.
Sick truck! It means much more when it’s just the way you want it, if it were me I’d go with a 6.7 instead but still a great ride.

@ansv3340
2 жыл бұрын
Unimogs start at 200K , dollars and those that built in 70ties,
How much would it cost to have a van like this made with an extra cab like with a camper on the rest
It should be called a Vuck
I would have guessed a van frame was narrower not wider?!
@ujointoffroad
2 жыл бұрын
Yea, they’re wider so the engine can sit lower in the chassis, more interior space
@gary19222

@@ujointoffroad oh I see. Makes sense!
Is it called a vauck?
It’s vanalitious
Would a flat bed truck be better because it essentially the same think but has much more room to work on the engine?
@DrivingLine
2 жыл бұрын
Well, hopefully, you don't have to work on the engine often. So, that won't be as important. I think the big difference here is that the E- Series cab makes it where you can have a longer bed, without the added length of a truck. This thing is fairly nimble on the trail.
@ALMX5DP

No one realizes the advantage of the approach angle a van has over a truck. Inches count more than you think in some situations
w o w . .😧😲😮
Ah yes, the vuck
Mechanics hate working on vans, that platform better be super important
@ansv3340
2 жыл бұрын
They lie )) working on the van is easier as it has that hood inside the cab. Unlike pickup truck , where cyl 4 is unreachable
You are a good person he would have needed some more pain pills if it was me
I had a powerlok front, the detroit is far better up front for a road truck once you remove the `softlocker`clutches
Make a camper to weld/bolt onto that flat bed!!

A tire with a thicker sidewall will eliminate a lot of the wandering at highway speeds those nitto tires allow.

Well I clicked on the video just to find the answer to why would someone use a van instead of a truck? If something breaks in the middle of a storm you want to easily access it
@ansv3340

Not that bad as it has hood from the inside, when you take stuff off there is lot of space up top,. Hard places to get to would be exhaust manifolds, the frame is on the way ,
Wait so is this what the trans moment has been about.
