I just traded in a 2018 Ram 2500 Lariame with the Cummins on a 2020 F350 lariat with the 7.3 gas and the 10 speed trans. Pros on the Ram, nicer interior, LED lighting, Uconnect system is a little better than the sync system. Keyless entry. Cons on the Ram, low payload capacity, to low for most 5th wheel applications. The mirrors . Also has a slightly shorter bed than the Ford. No rear locker. One other thing that annoyed me was in the radio presets that you could only go up in channels, have to cycle through them all to get to the next lowest preset. Pros on the Ford. Payload capacity is higher, slightly longer bed. I think 4" longer. The mirrors are much better especially if your towing. A locking rear differential. Adaptive steering is great in tight spots, lot less turns of the wheel. Lastly you can go both directions on the radio presets. Cons on the Ford, no keyless entry unless you go up to the next trim level. LED lighting is an option on the lariat ONLY on the crew cab, can't get it on the supercab. Most of the better packages like the Tremor are only available in the crew cab.The interior has more plastic than the Ram. Overall I'm happy with the 2020 F350. Haven't towed with it yet because of the lockdown. With gas being 80 cents a gallon cheaper than diesel right now that's a big plus. If you don't tow heavy everyday the 7.3 liter gas might be worth looking into.

RAM!!! Just traded in my F250 Platinum for a new 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie Limited (basically some of the Limited features on a Laramie Package). Night Edition. Been a Ford loyalist for 12 years and when the new Ram trucks came out in 2019...it caught my attention. I am a General Contractor so for me, I drive. A lot. Comfort is key. The Ram is MUCH quieter. Smoothest riding truck I have ever been in and a great value. Ben your videos have been extremely helpful and got me to my Ram dealership to finally test drive. Once I fired up that Cummins Engine...it was over. Took the truck home that night (borrower deal - I buy a LOT of trucks from the Covert family here in Austin). ZERO regrets. Looking forward to our first road trip.

Great video Ben. For me it’s FORD. The latest powerstroke plus the new 10 speed make for an unbelievable driving experience. The interior on the Ford is nice and incredibly functional yet the interior is more luxurious on the Ram but than mainly has to do with product update cycles. I like the idea of the aluminum body on the Ford and as a personal choice the front of the Ford looks tougher IMO.

If you aren't going to keep it a long time (as in drive it while under warranty), drive them both and get what you like. If you plan on keeping it for a long time, get the Ram with the Cummins. The engine has a lot less big issues than the Ford engine when you start getting high mileage on them. They are both overpriced, cost a fortune to work on, and are expensive to maintain. Kind of like owning a horse...if you don't have a job for it, you are just wasting your money.

My Pick is the Ford. The dodge definitely has a nice interior. I like the ford engine and transmission combo. I have driven it. I also like the bigger mirrors that have power extend on them The LED lights in the box and even the look of the front end. Your 2020 ford must be an early version BC i didn't see the Diff Lock I think the functionality will be better on the Ford. I am placing an order for the 2021 F250 King Ranch, ultimate package and Fifth wheel hook up. Thanks for the comparison. It reassured me with my decision.

I am still a Ford fan despite what I am about to tell you. I tow a 45-foot 5th wheel 17k lbs with Reese Box Gooseneck. My last 2 trucks have been F-350s DRW 6.7 diesel. I owned a 2018 F-350 Lariat DRW and put 80K miles on it never had an issue with it. I traded it in for 2020 F-350 DRW Limited. I was day two into my month-long Colorado vacation while towing the 5th wheel when my engine light came on and told me to reduce engine power and it throttle me down to 30 MPH. Long story short, the truck died on me, and I found out water got into the fuel system and rust was on the high-pressure fuel pump and damaged the entire fuel system. Truck has 27K miles and the entire fuel system must be replaced, which the cost will be $15,000, thankfully insurance is covering it. So being bummed about a month-long vacation that was planned, I decided to purchase a new truck so I could continue my vacation while my F-350 was being repaired. Giving the COVID truck crisis shortage I got lucky and found a brand new 2021 RAM 3500 limited diesel DRW $84K, I decided to give the RAM a try since I have a few friends that own them and swears by them. It's a beautiful truck, but it's not for me. I miss my Ford. Issue #1 > For starters, pulling up hills, this does not have the power that my F-350 has. I have the pedal on the floor going up hills and the speed of the RAM decreases in speed. Same hills with my Ford, doesn't slow down, in fact I can gain speed going up. The RAM has 410 hp and the ford has 475 hp. Issue #2 > When driving around a curve the steering sticks and wants to stay in the curve! Very strange and freaked me. I google this and found that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem, it's a rack and pinion issue. Issue #3 > when I put the truck in reverse sometimes it makes a loud clunking sound, like the u joint or drive shaft is lose. Issue #4 > The new larger screens that are putting in is very complicated, you must go through a lot of steps just to turn on the A/C. The user interface is way too complicated and not easy and straightforward like Ford. Issue #5 > space inside the cab feels cramped, I am 6'3" and the windshield height is lower, I feel like I can see out of the truck as good as the ford. Also the truck is narrower I think the RAM is 79 inches and the ford is 96. This makes a big difference in my opinion when you're towing, you can see behind better. Also on the passenger side floor board, there is a huge hump where the transmission is giving you little space on the floor board. Ford does not have that issue. Issue #6 > Comfort, overall, the RAM is ok and comfortable, but I feel my ford is more comfortable. However, I do feel the RAM is quieter on the inside cab. Issue #7 > Sounds system, speaker started shorting out when I crank up the volume from time to time. Sound system in my Ford is way better, keep in mind both trucks are fairly close in price range. I can't give the RAM too bad of a rap because it's kept me on the road and on my vacation, but it’s just not for me. I really wanted to like it but there are way more features I miss on my Ford. I'm selling it after my trip and along with the Ford after it comes out of the shop. Then I am planning to order a new Ford 2022. I know all trucks have their issues including Ford but I would rather drive a Ford than a RAM any day.

@@freedomisntfree_44 at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. You can keep that death wobbling fireball with the cheap plastic interior. If my house burns then ill be getting a new truck and a new house, win win right? I do really have to disagree with you about Ford out pulling a Ram. If you’re ever in my area come to my shop and let’s hook up the gooseneck with 27k pounds of equipment. The damn Ford is always getting hot. Especially going up and down the mountains. The ram pulls is so much better and I barely ever have to touch the brake pedal coming down the mountain. The exhaust brake does all the heavy work. The 2021 f450 I got is a lot better than the 2015 F450 I had, but my 19 Ram 3500 still feels better and the Fords new interior is still years behind the Rams.

If I were to spend the extra 12k on a diesel I'd get the Ram, but more likely I'd save the money and get the Ford or Chevy gasser. Waiting for Chevy to release the new 10spd Allison with the gasser before final decision. I need payload and off road so no reason to spring for diesel other than cool factor but that's a really steep climb. With that money I could get lift, gears and lockers and maybe more.

I don’t know about the 2020 Super Duty trucks, but the F250’s my company bought last year are terrible work trucks, the tailgate isn’t gaped right, it looks like a bunch of grade school kids assembled it. It has been in the shop twice now with only 30,000 miles on it. The seats are not comfortable. The engine has a tic in it when you start it up, there is a clang noise in the drivetrain the dealer can’t seem to find. The engine in our other 2019 Super duty had to have a new engine 6 months ago with only 17,000 miles!! My advice is unless Ford fixed all these issues in the 2020 Super duty trucks, stay away from the Ford Super duty they are NOT a reliable work truck!

The 3500, along with the 2500, are both available with the standard Cummins 6.7 370 HP/850 Ft Pounds Torque) and 68RFE trans, while ONLY the 3500 is available with the HO Cummins (410 HP/1075 ft pounds torque). If you want a fast, punchy Diesel engine with an amazing 10 speed transmission: Ford. If you want a proven, super reliable engine with a stout transmission (Aisin): RAM 3500. RAM will get better gas mileage, has nicer interior, etc. Both will work well.

Issues like...Electrical system goes out, can’t figure out why? Transmission shifting problems. The sales guy said used Ford trucks sell much quicker, so much so, they buy them at auction to have plenty on hand. He said that also gives the perception someone traded in a Ford for a Ram. Good Luck with your Expensive decision, no matter your choice.

I just traded in my 2019 Limited 3500 Cummins for an F-350 Platinum powerstroke. I’ve always been a Ram guy, but the lack of a true 5th gen Ram HD finally broke me! I cant justify spending 73k on a truck that has the same dinosaur transmission that shifts like crap, a tiny cab with no panoramic sunroof, no telescopic steering, stiff seats and poor interior ambient lighting. Sorry the Ford wins on those categories despite the terrible interior materials. Those new headlights on the 2020 platinum are bad ass. Ram really needs to update their HD trucks to be in line with their 1500 models before they get my business back. A 1500 shouldn’t have a larger cab than a 2500/3500! Period! I also had a boatload of small issues with mine like a/c that didn’t blow cold half the time, a hood that flexed at highway speeds, cabin air leaks, sensors that wouldn’t shut off and front end clunking noises....none of these could be properly diagnosed.

Ford more fun to drive , has all out performance advantage with more power and the right gear for every road speed, it has a more modern cab and body ,way better visibility from drivers seat, but definitely requires more maintenance than the Ram, eats brakes faster ,due to weak exhaust brake, and the V8 is much harder to work on. The Ram has a dated cab with modern electronics and better quality interior materials and finish. Proven Cummins engine but with recent revisions including CGI block, reliable but clunky and slow shifting Aisin,or weak but good shifting 68RFE , FCA build quality is sometimes lacking.... Id take the Ford if I was selling it within 6 yrs and the Ram for heavy hauling or longer ownership ..

You just don't research these vehicles enough that you review. Laramie does not come standard with LED lights. Also, neither truck comes with leaf springs in front, all versions are on coil springs. Fender extensions are not standard on the Laramie. RAM example is more heavily optioned than the Ford, and you speak of many of its options as if they are standard equipment. I gave up watching at about the 2/3 mark. Do better research before talking as if you know what you're talking about.
