The old one was something special in its era, very different to the S Class. The new one is just an improved and luxurious S Class.

Maybach starts out as a fully specced s class but gets maybach treatment which icblides different paint and design elements as well as much higher quality materials and customization and more room and more exclusive features as well as being limited production and holding their value better. So although its an s class its unlike any other s class and certainly isn't a normal s class If maybach costed $500k then yes you would have a point but at this price its perfectly reasonable and successful sales also prove that its reasonable and that mercedes knows what people want

As a german myself I'm pretty impressed how he pronounced Maybach, well done xD

The 57s has a much better interior aesthetic than the new one. It is inviting, and exudes excellent craftsmanship throughout. All of the features are integrated much more seamlessly in the older model. If I were being chauffeured across the country I would chose to ride in the 57 everytime.

Old Maybach is a land yacht ! Beautifully put together . Overengineered and classy ! I would choose the old one !

Fun fact the central box that Thomas mentioned at 8:25 which opened from two angles, in the old generation S class the Legendary W221 it actually had a third button which would open a even deeper storage place and in it it had a telephone place holder which was the same telephone used in some other cars including the SLS and when I first noticed that it always amazed me idk why but I thought it was really cool

Love this channel but my only one minor gripe is that they talk over each other from time to time which after a while gets to be a little annoying.

Maybach S62 dual is my first love. The wheel arches, the chrome separator of body color, the trunk design, everything is so much mesmerizing.

26:53 look at the quality of the trim fitment on the rear door.. I can vouch that these are not built as nicely as they should as I had one in the other day. Drove fabulous but quality was shocking

You must note that: Back in the day, Maybach was a separate brand under Mercedes, hence it was somewhat different from S class which it was based on... Now Maybach is JUST a trim level in the S class family, the highest and most luxurious, so no difference from S class... A change in the strategy

Saw a Maybach 57S a couple weeks ago on the road and it's still impressive and I drive an S-Class, the old Maybach is a real Maybach, the new ones are just a slightly nicer version of my car. LOL

Samuel my uncle had one in the early 2000’s brand new and in like a year the AC stopped working and he took it to 3 different mechanic shops and no one was able to fix it. He spent like 8k and took him like 4 weeks to have it working properly. It’s not about the money it’s about time because people in the US are not used to European car and it’s also harder to order parts for foreign cars. They are good cars but not in the US these cars in Europe are more reliable because it’s from there.

Sorry gents.... the “flowing lines” trim package can be had on nearly all of mercs line up.. not exclusive to maybachs at all. Magic sky was also offered on the 62 and 62s. Currently merc runs these offerings as an “s” and a “s class maybach” so the lengths are different however all options on the maybach (today) can be found inside the standard wheelbase “s”. 4place seating with 3D sound and you would never know the difference.. the previous gen maybach cut absolutely zero corners..

Your guys’ creativity at the beginning of your videos is the best part that out stands you from other nerds out there!

The magic sky roof was introduced in the maybach 62, and can also be optioned with solar panels which powers the air cond automatically under the hot sun keeping it cool even when the engine is off.

This is what that has been keeping my shit together this lockdown

What's so cool about the Maybach is that it's one size larger than the full size S-Class / A8 / 7-series luxury car segment. Even though it's almost 30cm longer than the W222 Maybach it still doesn't look stretched!

I have 2 Maybach from 2004 the 62 and the 57 and it’s really still one of the best cars ever in the luxury class .. I also also have the phantom .. the cost new the same price but the Maybach is just sooo much better .. when I drive it and when I am sitting on the back it’s just maximum best feeling like a privat jet on the Road

The older Maybach, timeless luxury, also was very very quiet! Especially when he was flooring it, when In the new one, you could definitely hear that v8 quite a bit when in the 57 s you heard nothing lol i did notice the new one was in sport mode so maybe that had something to do with it!

Having only seen this vid now and enjoying it, I do some things to consider….. have you bought the car to show off to other people. Then the external looks are important. But if you don’t need validation from other people them the interior is most important…. You don’t run alongside The vehicle at 120km/h looking at how good you look. But you do enjoy quality tech and features in the car and of course comfort and road ability if required. External looks really become secondary. Great channel guys and decent incite full information. Cheers
