Hey Guys I really appreciate you’re feedback. I was a newbie to driving automatics and was very upset and confused about Paccarr motors. However I found out that it wasn’t the transmission it was 2 sensors on the exhaust that was under warranty. I got them replaced and have not had any issues as of yet. I’m actually in love with this truck now. I’m currently at about 160k miles now.

Good to know that your truck is doing good now. I just bought me a 2021 t680 and as i was driving from buiong the truck back home i got that reading on my dash. Im gonna look for those 2 sensors to replace

That’s actually a 2021, always a year after manufacture date. Two things to be aware of with automatics, make sure you have enough air pressure before going into gear and always allow the transmission to cycle down before shutting off. And never shut off in gear. Should last a long time if taken care of properly. That truck you have with the paccar and automatic is the best fuel mileage truck on the market right now. No any truck with a paccar trans is no good the only paccar thats hood is one either without a paccar trans or that engine because they drink oil and coolant and if you dont check either it will end bad

We have a couple of Kenworth T680 with Paccar engine and they had major engine problems. Our other T680 with different engine work fine.

Why I will never get an automatic truck my 2016 579 paccar has 1,040,000 miles on it and still kicking it. 😎

I drive for a truck company that leases kw t680's.. they are new and they're always in the shop...

You can turn it on and off 6 times, it can be helpful. You can also take off the battery negative poles. Leave it for 10 minutes. It can be helpful. I've done it a few times on Pete 579, and it worked.

It most likely not the transmission causing the problem it will be in the wiring harness from the collision mitigation system that connects to the transmission.

Keep in mind it was built around covid and quality in everything went down, That light at the top that's a hillasist is disabled flip the switch to turn it back on

Probably a sensor issue. My 2016 did the same thing.

Hmm the light you are talking about looks like it might be the Jake brake light!

What two sensors

Check the transmission fluid. I had the very same issue with my 2020. Had it check out at a non dealer and turns out it was low on oil, very low, like almost two gallons low.

@@Biggtruckin and I bought my t60 brand new fresh off the lot and 6 months later I had that issue. I heard of new trucks having issues but dang! Now I know to check all fluid levels before I sign.

It's not only transmission but the def

All these new trucks are computers. Unless the truck feels like it's not driving the way it should, clunking jerking etc i wouldn't get to stressed. These motors and trucks are good these days. Just hope they have parts available. That's the big problem these days waiting for parts from other countries. Safe driving!!

I am or was, California may be a really great spot to look for them they have a lot of trucks selling for a low cost because of the new law that passed

You are right automatics are easy to drive but they are problematic but driving stick you don't have those problems mine had 10 g an transmission fault code came up an did same thing shop fixed it lasted 30 g went out again I got rid of it found me a,stick

When i first started in 2020 I was issued a 2019 KW T680. I got up the road headed to get my stuff then had to come right back. It wouldnt shift into 12th gear...Automatic transmission. Turns out the truck had been back to Kenworth 3 times and they couldnt fix it. So then they put me in a 2020. Truck just loses pull power if i turn left going uphill from a stop..It would just give up and start rolling backwards when it tried to go into 3rd. So i tell the shop. They check into it...they were supposed to apply a software update but hadnt done it. That helped for 50,000 miles or so but now both 2nd and 3rd are like that. The truck will just stop motion and roll back so ive learned to brake and let it slip back down to first then it usually will go from 1 to 4 and get me going. So yes, the KW auto transmission is garbage.

I fixed couple kenworth 2019 and 2020 with the same problem and only I repleced the shift lever but just one I sended to the dealer because need new trasmission

have you first tried releasing the brake nub first and then trying it to see if it's go in reverse, may be it wont let you go on reverse cuss its has the brake on while your trying to go on reverse?

Yes it works sometimes, however I was running hard for a month it’s been a little better now since it sat for a while

6/15/23. I got that problem today on my 2023 Pete with a cummins x15 with paccar transmision dammit it was really scared. Just at the moment to back to door. Reverse don't works omg. It was frustrating. Stopped engine disconnect batteries try and try and nothing....people at warehouse waiting to me lol. Finally I shit to move forward and then change to manual and I'm manual mode try to put it on reverse and I can move back...... so if that occurs to you try to do same think from manual mode to reverse

I really appreciate u, I’m sure most people will take this into consideration. I had to do more reserch myself to understand more about the paccar motor. One thing I didn’t do was try manual mode….Will do if I ever run into this problem again thank you very much for your feed back.

I noticed on your door sticker it said GVWR of 52,350. Does that mean you aren't able to scale a full 80,000 lbs when loaded with a trailer?

No. That is the combined weight rating for all axels on JUST the truck. There should be somewhere else where it would show a gCwr which would be 80,000 or more. The v stands for vehicle and the c stands for combination.

Just look for the 17 digit vin# the 10th digit tells the year of the vehicle 🤦🏿‍♂️...Long live the manual transmission 💪🏿companies buy automatic transmission trucks so they can basically hire anyone that can hold a steering wheel 🤦🏿‍♂️

What a shame this is what's keeping me away from being owner operator im company driver i drive Pete 579 comfy powerful truck mines 13 speed but i have problems often lights up like Xmas tree on. dashboard lol

I was told by today's Xbox Generation Wheel Holders in Pajama Pants and Flip Flops, that Automatic Transmissions were FLAWLESS, THE BEST, NEVER breakdown.

Yes you have to let the air get to the transmission before you take off. When u push your valves in wait about 30seconds then pull off. Also as the previous comment that I responded too make sure you check all of your fluids especially in the transmission

Do not park your truck upside down like to the hill

Two things i will never buy again, a truck with an automatic transmission and any KW product.

Can you pls tell me what sensor, I have 2019 t680 with a X15 Cummins and Eaton Fuller automatic transmission 12 speeds so far I have no problems But just in case let me know the 2 sensor so I can buy them and carry with me if I ever needed.... thanks

Make sure your air pressure is up. T680 are all air driven

@@moorecobra8914 Good to know. I know they have a lot of electrical issues and if too many faults occur it shuts down the system. It is good to know how to clear them at least long enough to get to a safe place or out of the way.

The MX13 engine is a pile of garbage. The endurant trans is borderline. The computer RARELY fails in those trucks. The trans issues usually start around 300k- 400k.

I have two trucks with the MX-13. The engines are just fine. The Pete 389 is as dependable as you could expect. The KW T 680 everything else on the truck around the engine is garbage.

@@gabeswitala2292 then you probably have either an epa 2010 or epa 2017 spec engine. Every other generation is even worse in quality. Most are torn down around 450k because of the crappy assembled camshaft breaks lobes. Those pos 389 petes are rattle traps. Whole cab creaks, rattles, buzzes. Name a noise and it does it. Took long enough to pull the plug on that model. 579 ain't nearly as bad........with a cummins.

@@giberish9 researched the first one before I bought it. Has a B 90 rating. Meaning that 90% of them will turn a million miles before having to be torn down. The closest thing to an engine related problem I've had was the pete needed a new exhaust manifold. The way trucks are made any more there isn't a one on the road that a legitimate bitch can't be made about.

​@@gabeswitala2292 not b90.......B10 is the term. Go look it up. I'm well aware of "B10-life" it's a bullshit advertisement for paccar. And you clearly fell for it. Those pieces of crap are annoying to work on, anything less than the 510hp version is a slug, the composite oil pans are a joke, the camshafts fail at an alarming rate, the head have valve guide issue starting at as low as 150k miles. I can go on and on. Next one, fork up the extra $15k and get the cummins. Better power, less issues, way easier to service. I rarely see an isx come in for anything requiring the valve cover to come off. The pos mx13, there coming in every week for clogged injectors. The injectors fail at such an alarming rate on 2021+ engines, the dealerships are avoiding replacement till ABSOLUTELY necessary. I mean multiple injector cleanings and still setting injector codes before paccar will cave and warranty a new set. Think I'm wrong? Call a T/A

Its not the truck they have diffrent transmissions and most times its the drivers start driving withough the air built up because the transmission uses air to shift so it could be damaged from that pr a sensor or a air leaking from the transmission air line but the best trans in a eaton fullor or allison not paccar just dont but a paccar speced truck of you dont know about trucks 😂😅
