    Warranty repairman all sign off once the paid part is installed, and if that repair goes beyond service hours with other issues, it’s put on hold in order to satisfy non warranty customers because that’s where the main dealership profits come from. Test drive your purchase 100% with a cheat sheet checking off detailed functions of everything inside and out, top to underneath, front to back and pay for a certified tractor trailer mechanic outside of the dealership.

    IMO get the hotel room. Have them go over truck. I noticed there is nationwide road repair, towing (but not recovery) $400 a yr for semi. If they fix it for parts cost. Pay for another night in hotel. (I comment as I listen). If you break down 1x and it covers... You need to tell a shop that there is a Kenworth dealer nearby??? Keep old belts, hoses. (Unless totally shot). Quick roadside repair parts. Avoid buying stuff at 3x price at truck stop. That sat for 5 yrs in front of heat vent...

  • @juanlemod

    I just came across your channel. It looks like you bought a truck that used to belong to Melton Truck Lines. I recognize that color scheme anywhere, plus the tarp box and headache rack was a dead giveaway. I used to work at Melton as a driver, and they did the bare minimum in terms of maintenance. They replace their trucks every 2-3 years, so they mostly put bandages on problems since it won’t be their problem for long. It would’ve been slightly better if you gotten that truck with a manual transmission instead of an automatic. If you decide to keep that truck, I recommend getting rid of those supersingles and get some duallies instead. You get more traction with dually tires and you’re able to keep driving hundreds of miles down the road if and when one of your tires decides to blow. Whereas with your supersingle tires, wherever they decide to blow, you have to stop right there and then. The potential fuel savings are not worth the premium you have to pay for those supersingle tires. Nevertheless, I wish you nothing but the best on your journey. Mistakes will be made. You will learn from them and become better.

    @@XX-166 You are correct but in order for the owner to point out the issues such owner needs to know how to identify issues but I don’t get the feeling this guy knows much. For god sake, in his previous video when he was reviewing the truck he spend 90% of the time inside the cabin showing the bed, the fridge, the little window in the back, a table, etc.... about the engine he only said “it was pressure washed and they added more grease after washing it” 🤦🏻‍♂️, he brought his brother who is a driver and NOT a mechanic. If you are going to invest 50K+ into a truck and you don’t know jackshit about engines you need to bring a mechanic with you or at least have a shop (NOT the one owned by the dealership) on stand by for you to drop the truck and have them do a full inspection. From his video he said himself he thought he was going to buy the truck and be ready to start hauling loads the next day. I think he likes to cut corners, he likes to save every single penny and that came to bite him in the ass. He should’ve got the truck and go to a shop and PAY a inspection fee to have the truck checked up and down by a professional and if or when they found something it would be written on a official report from an actual mechanic and with that he can go back to the place he bought the truck and show them the report with everything that was found wrong and force them to fix it but he probably didn’t want to spend the couple hundred bucks to have a shop inspect the truck. Now because he was cheap and wanted to jump steps he ended up with a truck parked for a week and lost income. 🤷🏻‍♂️

After installing back on its starter slipping (thats why it was making noise) , the belt was not making noise when you took it in for the leaking water pump. Also they double charged you for the labor on the belt , they had to take it off to change the water pump. Call your dealer make some noise and get a full refund on the belt.

I hated mechanical repairs because of the stupid useless a-holes in spare parts sabotaging every single step of the parts ordering process. If only I just knew when I left what I know now - I was only dealing with one layer of morons, I'd never have started driving. As a driver the layers of morons is never ending - from suppliers, to motorists, to bosses/customers/receivers/dispatchers/police/regulatory authorities/service attendants/other truckers/members of the public/road workers so on and so forth into infinity. Heck and I'm only a lowly company driver. Imagine being an owner operator?? It's so bad out there, I was ordering a coffee recently and told them how I wanted it and the lady started arguing with me about how I will be having my coffee. I let her make it and then refused to take it or pay for it. I said to her that's not how it works - how it works is if you want my business I tell you what I want not vice versa.

    Kenworth actually buys directly from Cummins and distributes parts through their own PACCAR warehouses to their dealer. Some dealers do not have an account at the local Cummins distributor, warranty policies may throw a wrench into your dealer buying a water pump from another OE dealer as well as prices may be locked.

  • @deezelfairy

    @deezelfairy

    You're exactly right. It's naive to think the dealers are 'so dumb' that don't check other parts suppliers. I'm a forklift mechanic and our factory warranty parts HAVE to come from the manufacture, END OF, we cant just get the part from another supplier and send the bill to the OEM, it doesn't work like that! 😂 If we had to pay for the parts, (e.g machine maybe out of manufacturers warranty but sold 2nd hand with our own warranty) than we still wouldn't be getting the part from another dealer, we'd get maybe a 40-50% discount from the OEM but from another dealer we'd be paying close to retail. Thats why they don't check other dealers for parts availability - unless that dealer has multiple depots and will check the others buts that's as far as it goes.

    I'd bet money they have the pump in stock. But because that job is listed as a warranty, they don't take stock parts. Have seen it many many times. My cousin worked at a dealer also and it was their policy to order and wait on parts for any warranty work. Had it happen to me on a 2007 isx Cummins. When my egr went out and they said 2 days for parts. Walked out side and called parts department at the dealer I was at and they had multiple on stock...ended up buying out of pocket and submitting warranty papers myself

    You remind me of me in 10/2011. I took delivery of a 2012 T660 that I ordered with a 600HP Cummins and after two major engine failures it was garbage at 350,000 miles. Neither of which Cummins took responsibility for in compliance with their Progressive Warranty. It basically states that they will only warranty the 1st part that fails in the string of failures. That means that the first breakdown, a shattered porcelain fuel plunger took out all the injectors and although I was billed $14,000 they gave me back $6,000. This was because the triple plunger system had a potential to cavitation, ergo they changed the entire fuel delivery system. How I ended up responsible for all the injectors after initially purchasing $14,000 in extended warranties on all components to a minimum of 500,000 miles was beyond me. 100,000 miles later it turned a main bearing that pulled a rod and scored the block. A $35,000 engine bill of which Cummins said was sized by a pitting camshaft whose metal deposits caused the main bearing to turn and they offered to pay only for the camshaft. This was at 350,000 miles. I'd had the truck for 27months and I didn't have anywhere near that amount on hand to repair and had to forfeit the truck to auction and was on the hook for the remainder. 10 years after purchase, I'm still paying for that POS Cummins Engine. Buyer beware, Yousuf! Buyer beware. You should get rid of that red devil before it comes after you. Get yourself a Detroit in, say, a Western Star 5700XE. That's a similar style. You'd love it.

If there was no noise coming from the belt before, then there shouldn’t have been any noise coming from it after the water pump was replaced 🧐 Once the pump was replaced, it should have been good. What was the name of that shop again sir, so other drivers will be aware.

    Not the dealers fault its actually his fault because he is purchasing a used vehicle that has been sitting for a while. Before you buy any car or truck that has been sitting on the lot you the buyer are supposed to check everything thoroughly, test drive it for at least an hour up the hills and curves check for vibrations, any leaks or unusual sounds drive it to its maximum limits and if nothing breaks during the test drive then make the purchase decision. Unfortunately too many idiots buying blindfolded

    The clicking door holder is a common issue on Paccar products (Peterbilts & Kenworths), only thing you can really do is replace it (hopefully before it breaks then anchoring bolts). Also on a Cummins engine that repeated moving noise you hear when you shut it down it normal, it is the intake throttle valve running its own checks.

Until one day I got a call from new Jersey I didn't answer they let a voice mail my friend had a vehicle accident and was killed we were business partners so they called my number from a business card his wallet and cell phone was lost in the accident. Anyway it doesn't take much effort to answer the phone.

    That's not why they charge a markup on the parts from Cummins they will order a part for $500 and then charge full retail or even up change so that $500 part is now $800 or $1,000 for it so as far as the dealerships concerned they ain't losing any money if your truck's parked there for 3 weeks sometimes they will even charge you storage on your bill.

Hopefully the place that you bought it from takes care of paying for that belt to I'm sure we'll find out in your next video. Can't wait to see you put that big truck to work

    In 2016 I had purchased a use DD15 Freightliner cascadia 2011 with 4000 miles on it . ABS light on after like 70 miles away from the dealer. I called them to notify the problem the sent me to the nearest Freightliner dealer in Nebraska. Probl solved and I pent 1 day in Hotel . I drove that truck for 4 years and I paid it off early with my own saving so I ain't save a dime since I got the garbage. It took all the 💰the I work for . I used to spend 3 weeks out and 1 week off hey truck always had some repair like replacing some parts and money gone. I'll never again by a use truck in my life my experience with a use truck was terrible. I have a year with a brand new 2021 KW900 with Cummings on it 13 speeds and 550HP.
