Ppl in Mexico/ India/ Japan/ Africa, watching this video as they put 10000lbs of cargo on their Toyota + pulling a trailer lol, i have never worried of weight. I’ve owned a 1 Ton 2008 Duramax, and now I own a 2020 3/4 Ton Duramax. And have exceeded the weight multiple times by a lot of thousand of lbs and have never felt unsafe or that i didnt have enough truck.

So just pulled my trailer 1500plus kms on a week long adventure. I figure leaving, trailer loaded was around 6000lbs conservatively. This with a 2017 Titan Half ton. (Yes below tow rating)On way home I may have had more weight due to full grey and 2/3 black. And equally full water tank. Many a time (driving back in dark) I had to double check to make sure trailer was still back there. I was impressed as it was a long haul. I averaged between 19 and 21 litres per 100k depending on terrain and elavation and hovered around 2000 2500rpm even on steep grades.

I talked to the guy at the next diesel station he wouldn't let me look inside but he seemed happy with the overall performance. Pretty nice looking truck. I think it would be a good idea to offer in 4.10s. For guys looking to upgrade tires and wheels it would definitely be a huge perk. Thanks again JD as always we appreciate all you do

Hey....great videos. I enjoy them very much. I would love to see your opinion or video on the Ram 2500 with optional factory auto-level rear air ride suspension. I have the vehicle...pulls like a dream on the hitch but I have not ever pulled in the gooseneck/5th wheel position. Thanks for your very informative videos. Trucker here....pulling and hauling heavy is of no concern to me.

Good video showing the new GMC and a large 5th wheel. In my experience, the numbers on the stickers are a starting point. To get the actual numbers I would like to see the weights from a Cat scale. My Cedar Creek listed the pin weight as 1800 pounds in the specifications. Our actual pin weight when loaded for camping is 2680 pounds. So glad I purchased a 3500 SRW over a 2500. I do suspect a large portion of the increased pin weight is the Trail Air pin box. Since this is an optional item, it wouldn’t be included in the original specs.

@@michaelcauseySA Hi Michael. We have an older model 34CKTS (2005). Got a good deal, in very good condition. Tows just fine with my RAM 3500 SRW. When I first purchased the trailer, I actually didn't have a truck. Had access to a Ford 350 Dually through my work -we brought the trailer home with that truck. So I have towed the same trailer with a dually and SRW. The dually definitely was more stable and I think would be a better choice if we were full-time. The SRW RAM still works very well. I don't feel un-safe by any means. Just don't want to use a dually as my daily driver the rest of the year.

Help? I’m needing a new truck... we were using a Toyota Tundra w a 10,500 tow capability to tow our 8,000 lb trailer. We got a light 5th wheel, and upgraded to a F250, but the maintenance and downtime worked our nerves, especially the going into limp mode a few times a year. Clearly Fords were not designed to tow 5th wheels. My friends love GMC’s, my brother swears by RAM’s. What is the best most reliable HD pickup truck for towing a fairly light 13,000 pound 5th wheel? The Toyota towed well, and had zero non-regular-maintenance issues, but the Ford makes me want to downsize and buy another Toyota. What do you think about GMC’s or RAM’s?

I was wondering if you could tow a fifth wheel with a 'short bed' (I know they vary some in length). If so... How can you calculate the length of bed needed for any given fifth wheel? Also do you have any experience with a sliding hitch or with the sidewinder hitch? Thanks in advance!

This leaves me to question if the truck you are in is a 1 ton single axle? 🤔 Just got the answer 😆 . We're still gonna go for the high country. It's a new model so the rule of thumb is wait a couple years for the manufacturer to iron out the problems. To be fair modern car manufacturing is way better then it was even 10 years ago but I would suggest getting an extended warranty either through the manufacturer or from a third party. But to be fair if you're in a position to spend 50 to 70k on a truck and 80k on a fifth wheel I'm assuming you can afford repairs without breaking the bank.

One main difference between the GM Heavy duty trucks vs the competitors is the independent front suspension. When unloaded it will have much nicer driving characteristics but if you have any kind of significant load it may not feel as solid or controlled as a live axle. Feels like there is alot more wiggle and movement with the ifs. Definitely not ideal for towing large trailers on a regular basis.
