I had a 1987 Porsche 944S with 5-speed manual and I installed a short shift kit in it. The shifter offered two shortening options for each of the two movements, shifter throw and lateral gate movement. I went with the maximum shortening in both directions, full-race, and it was fine for the street. It took me about a day to retrain my feel and be able to shift reliably through all the gears but after that it was a big improvement over stock. I did encase the Heim joint assembly in Molybdenum grease to smooth out the movement and so the shifter was really not more difficult to throw into gear. It was one of the best mods that I made on the car.

When you added the corsa exhaust do you get more pops from backfire than with stock?

@@ericd1632 Yeah I've done plenty of short throws on new edge Mustangs, but I'd never try to tackle this on an S550 on my own.

Rush, I have one in my 18 and love it! Question, do you sometimes end up in third instead of first? I'm wondering if it's just that close that I'm not use to it, or if my set screw isn't adjusted properly.

That is the only issue so far for me. Ending in 3rd when I wanna go in 1st. That happen when I don’t pay attention.

The shifter gets better after a couple weeks of driving(loosens up). I dont know how anyone does it on the ground, i did mine on the lift , took about 2 hours all told. I like how short it is , i can rest my forearm on the plastic part of the console instead of the lid on the cubby and you can rip shifts like no other. Enjoy

Frozen Stang you drop the driveshaft?

You rush you still got the spacers on the rear wheels

Man I had no idea it was so much work to get a short shifter

Does it have reverse lock

Where can I buy that shif knob?

Did mine in my garage on jack stands with the driveshaft and exhaust never removed and all by myself. Took a couple hours , but can be done. But let me tell you, it does suck doing it on jack stands. You'll love this shifter! If I had to do it all over again I would make a MGW your first mod to do.
