Ls_Eater did you check lemon law in your state? My 18 GT was in shop for 37 days waiting for transmission replacement i got a lemon law attorney and car is getting bought back by Ford or you have the option to get a replacement of the same vehicle you should check it out!

I am so glad I got a preowned 2016 GT last year. I didn't want to spend 50k on a Mustang. I am very disappointed to see what so many new Mustang owners are going through. It seems like there are nothing but problems. I wish you all the best.

It feel harsh at first to shift but after a week or so of break in it is just amazing i love mine

Glad to see you got your car back. Like I commented on one of your earlier vids if you love your car keep it rolling. I have a 02'WRX. I broke my stock transmission with NO engine upgrades. After some other problems with the trans I bought a STi 6speed. It was like driving a different car. Just keep upgrading. Break something......upgrade. Make it better, stronger and faster.

I applaud your skill in installing the shift boot. It took me a couple hours to finally get it over the shifter...I just couldn't get it into the groove. When I got one side in, the other would slip out. The overall install was super easy, but the shift boot was maddening!

It was a nightmare on my 2014 too. I ended up using a screwdriver to try to get it in place and tore the boot. George sent me a new one for free and that one went on much better. I have a MGW for my 18 - I ordered it before i even got the car but I want to put some miles on it incase I have the transmission problem. My stock shifter is light years better than my 2014 was but I haven't pushed it hard yet.

Hey bro, really happy you got your car back man :) Enjoy the shit out of it..I know you have been though hell with Ford, and trust me, I've been there. My '15 GT was the same color, Magnetic :) I had the MGW in mine...best shifter on the market, bar none...you're gonna love it! LOl, your reaction was the same as mine when I first sat in my new SS 1LE and drove off, even in the pouring rain. Keep us posted on how things go bro.

Great job, I have been looking at these, I will be getting the latest edition to these for my 2017... I need this bad.. i can lay down nice shifts with the stock but it is way to slopy for sure... You have to be so much more on point while shifting with the stock set up, It's really sad that ford uses that linkage....

Hi LS Eater, I also own a 2018 GT with an MT, this is an awesome video as always, if I replace my stock shifter with an MGW, will Ford still honor my transmission warranty? Also after Ford changed out your MT transmission, did they use a transmission with aluminum shifting forks again? Thanks again!

Yes, it is the same type of forks. Ford blamed the failures on bad castings which lead to air in the castings and then breaking. Most dealerships should honor your warranty still, I have had no issues with mine.

Is the shifter in the 2016 GT as bad as the 2018 stock shifter you removed?

I did the Steeda trans insert and Steeda Body shifter Bracket and the NVH is Horrible.. I am going to leave the bracket in and pull out the trans insert and see if the vibration goes away. Just did it last weekend and it's worse than it ever was..

I know this video is old just installed mine did yours vibrate after install? Like high Rpms

It is AMAZINGLY sturdy.

Santa is bringing me an X-spec flat stick for my '16! Yours is the flat stick, right? How do you like the height and throw? How does the height and throw compare to stock?

This is the x spec standard height right? Do you know if a raceseng shift knob will fit this shifter

been meaning to ask..but how is the clutch throw? is it shorter than the previous year models? that was always a issue for me. I found the clutch throw is longer (compared to the SRT Challenger I had) and the grab point was like almost to the end of the throw.

Has Ford given any indication as to which series of VIN's have the potentially flawed castings? It would be nice to know, so if I want, I can get mine replaced before something catastrophic occurs.

You can ask your service advisor and they should be able to provide the list.

So, I've been noticing that ecu doesn't apply full power when letting out the clutch during a launch even with Advancetrak off in both Track and Drag modes. Let us know if you find a way to tune out that power cut. Also probably why you had a difficult time launching on radials at the strip.

This is true, also doesn’t help I have super long gears (3.55). I’m going to talk to Lund about the power delivery.

Should I wait a couple years to buy an automatic Ford gt so by then the problem is solved or avoid the car all together ?

Install was 3 hours from start to finish, and I just prefer the look of the flat stick.

How did you get that first top arm bolt out? The one you reuse. I cannot for the life of me get it all the way out even pulling on the driveshaft with all my weight

I literally had to hang off the transmission lol. I put a jack under the bell housing, removed the trans mount, and slowly lowered the jack till it was hanging by the housing, then just hung my body off it ☠️

The Zip Ty is what was making it so hard to get the shift boot out..

Hey man, I’m no mechanic and I’m more into taking motorcycles to bits than cars, so sorry if this is a total dumb ass question but, will changing the transmission out stop the shift fork issue, or is it just preference in order to reduce throw and play?

Shift forks are within the transmission, so yes, changing out the trans to a more solid built one will.

Hey I just installed my MGW shifter and my 1st to 2nd is not feeling smooth going into gear I think I might of had a lock out going to 3rd I can't really tell because my shift ball is loose I don't want to put lock tite on the ball until I know the shifts are correct. How smooth are your shifts especially from 1to2 on normal driving? Mine shifter seems lined up more to the right and takes effort from neutral to get it into 1st gear. Does it supposed to fell this way or should I adjust it? Thx oh I have a 2015 Gt

1-2 are butter smooth. It might have to do with the reverse lockout pin. I know MGW has a video on KZread that shows a very specific procedure to get the pin aligned proper. That pin effects your 1-2 shift feeling.

Watching this once more before I order mine. Is this the standard or low profile X Spec? Any personal preference from one over the other? Keep making the how to vids, they're rare.

At least your stock shifter falls out easy. My old 5th gens shifter was held in with T bit bolts and getting a wrench on it around the drive shaft took about 2 hours of swear words

Have you ever had strange clutch/transmission sounds when shifting above 5k rpms? I really want to grab the MGW but I think I have a clutch issue lol.

My trans has gone out 3 times but I’ve never heard a strange sound lol. The clutches are a massive weak spot for these drive lines though.

@@LsEater damn! I've heard the twin discs are junk. I've never had anything with one so I didn't know if the noise is normal or not. Sounds like the sound a ratchet makes when you come off the clutch above 5k rpm. Maybe I'll take it in. Great video btw 👍

The radar is using a blend mount, the dash camera came with its own mount to mount to the windshield.

I use a blackvue 900s for my camera and a passport 9500ix radar

I have had the mgw x spec and Barton double post and hybrid on my mustang and I prefer the solid shorter shifts that barton offers. I feel like the mgw isnt as short and crisp as the barton but that is just my opinion.

MGW offers multiple “reductions” in throw. If you had the standard x-spec it’s a 21% vs the 25% of the Barton.

My 2012 mt-82 trans really messed up my liking for ford putting the mt-82 instead of leaving the tremec in it switching to Camaro God willing. Will get a mustang later on just gotta be with a tremec like the gt350 or mach 1

New transmission is solid. Issue was castings in forks causing air pockets.
