What are your thoughts on pull up reverse versus push down? Which do you prefer?

I prefer the push down. I had a 2014 gt before my 2015 so maybe I'm just bias

The only push down shifter I’ve driven was my mothers old Volkswagen Dasher diesel. It was crap compared to the pull up method. Thanks for the vid, I’m definitely going to upgrade the shifter on the ole MT82.

I love the convenience of the pull up reverse lock. However having push down is somewhat smoother and in my opinion a cleaner shifter. I am neutral on push down and pull up. Unless one has issues with either mechanism, I don't see any doubt in choosing mgw.

I just had this MGW-Shifter installed on my GT350 & love it. The stock shifter is really good like you said but this is so much more precise. I will admit getting into reverse kinda sucks but I’m hoping it’ll break in with time. It’s an amazing shifter & im so glad I got one installed.

Barton does make a shifter for the GT350, I have one in my GT350. And it's awesome! Barton makes the best damn shifters on the market. Thanks love your videos!

Interesting review. Replacement looks too complicated for me, would likely need to outsource. Jeff, if you pick this up, I test drove a used 17 GT350 (1,800 miles) this afternoon right after test driving a 13 Boss 302 (9,300 miles) & could not believe how light the clutch feeling was on the GT350. My initial shift felt like I was putting my foot to thru the floor & never did get a good feel for it on the test drive. Is your clutch super light feeling & did you get used to it after a while or does it feel too light? I was pretty impressed with the Boss 302 I drove as I'm used to a heavier clutch. Have you driven a 13 Boss 302 & if so what are your thoughts on it, if any? Peace/Out

Vengeance Racing uses MGW exclusively and installed it on my vette. Total joy and happiness is all I can say. And they're made in USA, Augusta GA.

Pull up is so much better feeling and unique

Nice work, as always Jeff. As an S550 guy, I'm just use to the pull-up reverse. Speaking of which - hope you will still make some GT content. Totally understand that with the new Shelby more of your content will be GT350-centric, but don't forget us GT'ers lol. Keep rockin!

Great video Jeff, thanks!! I have a GT350 and I am looking into upgrading my shifter, yet I can't seem to decide on MGW vs Barton. I know you had a Barton on your GT, and now you have the MGW on your GT350, so what are your thoughts on one vs the other? I would like to maintain the pull up reverse, but definitely not a deal breaker. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Bought one for mine. It’s just awesome. Just make sure you follow directs for reverse lockout pin.

Hey man you still like this mgw shifter? You never did a follow up review. Did you get use to the push down reverse, did it break in some? I'm just looking for whatever feedback additional you can add on top of this video since you have had it for some time now. I just today broke my stock reverse collar on my stock shifter and yes it is covered under warranty but I'm thinking about just upgrading to this shifter. Also any additional NVH, VIBRATIONS/RATTLES? thanks man and subscribed --- Eric

I like ur install vid better than LMRs. They had me thinking I had to remove the drive shaft.

How does this compare to the ford performance short throw shifter?

If I hadn't driven an s550 before I would say push down but after owning it Idk if I could do the push down. Looking forward to see how you like it after driving it a bit!

Just watch that you actually grab reverse instead of first. Easy enough to move forward when you expect to go backwards. Sometimes just a small movement makes a scratch...LOL

Doug FA I'll have to discuss the topic further. For my GT I felt Barton was the best choice and I loved everything about it. I would call it the perfect shifter. Literally one of the best mods I've ever done on that car.

Cool man, it would be good to know. Obviously they're both great shifters. I can definitely see that the reverse pull up collar would be easier to use.

Frank Kolodziejczyk I felt the Barton shifter was the PERFECT shifter for that car. One of the best mods for a GT. You get adjustable springs and retain the pull up collar which are additional bonuses to how good that shifter is.

I think I need an MGW. My GT500 has the 1st to 2nd grind.☹️ Any insight?

Yes this fixes the issue! My buddy had the same problem and the mgw was the cure. The stock shifter and linkage has so much slop

On my 2013 GT500, I solved this issue with MGW2 solid shifter bushings in the front and KR shifter bushing in the rear.

I personally think you can see the difference it looks shorter.

I will not do an mgw on my 2016 GT just because of the push down reverse. I just don’t trust it. I did a boomba racing short throw and bracket just because of how hard it is to install these short shifters now.

Barton Hybrid 3 shifter is the best

Any shops you recommend for install? Btw you should come out to the Drag Strip in Bradenton my buddy is currently running high 9's in his 15 GT with a VMP super charger. Always fun times :)

any NVH with that shifter?

Sean R nothing really noticeable from stock. When you go into first or second you get a little click noise from the shifter itself but other than that identical to stock.

come on man... You shift and pull in the direction you shifted for a second and a half (while u enjoy your shift) Only touch the shifter when you're ACTUALLY SHIFTING stop holding onto it unnecessarily, you're on a fast-track to degrading your new short-shifter. Nice setup though

Jeff Ashton well it definitely matters more you like it! I’m sure the shifter is nice I just fell in love with the gt350 stock shifter especially after the feeling of the stock mt82.
