MUSTANG GT - Valve Actuator & Spring Installation [HOW TO]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Congratulations, you’ve found the ONLY video on the internet that actually shows you how to replace/install the valve actuator for your active exhaust on the Mustang GT.
Trust me, I’ve scoured every corner of the internet trying to figure out which way the stupid spring goes on the actuator, I’ve battled this for MONTHS.
Take a deep breath, your search has finally ended. I’ll show you the CORRECT way the spring should be sitting in the actuator , the cheapest place to get a new actuator (don’t let ford RIP YOU OFF) and give you a better look than a quick flash and bad angle.
As always, stick around till the end and THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Hey man great video, it help me figure out what was wrong with my active exhaust. 1 thing I would add though is while making sure the spring is correct on the actuator, you have to make sure you line up the bottom portion of the spring with the valve assembly in the tip. Aside from that this was spot on! Thanks a lot!

Hell yeah! Finally. Your neighbors are going to appreciate that. Do a cold start video in quiet mode. It would be nice to gather decibel levels too with a decibel app. Nice! You're last video had me dying "I'm tired of just hearing all this RACKET that I'm making behind me" lmao!

My active exhaust cuts out when I give it the beans. Ford replaced the wiring harness for the active exhaust, happened again. SO frustrating. Checking the fuse next and hoping it's not an actuator issue.

@@coderomes if you look at the Corsa Extreme install on AM you can see that the right and left one supposedly sit 180 degrees from each other (there's only two ways they can sit), I think it really don't matter as long as the valves open freely. I have them both sitting the opposite from how you have them sitting in my stock exhaust and it works fine. Borla's instructions shows them sitting one way, Corsa shows them sitting side specific and opposite of each other, your video shows them both sitting the opposite of how Borla says to install them, and you cant find dink from Ford on the issue.

If the spring was the wrong way on the old one did you try positioning the spring the correct way on the old actuator? It might not have been a fault in the actuator but I’m assuming you did check! Would’ve sucked to have wasted an extra 150

  • @coderomes

It was backwards because I had turned it around because it wasn’t working originally, then it still wasn’t working and I was just lazy and never swapped it back around

  • @RBelun

has the new actuator failed since install? I just replaced the muffler 3 months ago thinking it was the issue because the butterfly would move thinking that was the issue. I stretched the spring before reinstalling and it worked. Now the rattle is back. PASSENGER SIDE TOO. My actuator works fine I'm thinking it just the spring since you mentioned it was harder to compress on install.

  • @coderomes

Old post , but same for my ‘18 GT you either try to remove the actuator the hard way or drop the muffler to get to it
