    Brian Shaw, Jf Caron and Jerri Pritchet all got injured on the deadlift. and all 3 are beasts. maybe it isn't a good idea to place heavy deadlift as the first event. such shame these 3 couldn't compete healthy. i believe Thor still was the winner but not as easy as we saw. and for Brian Shaw continue even with a torn hamstring was really impressive, showed heart.

    If they place the DL last they will be soared, therefore no one will be attempting giant lifts, not even Thro, no World records and will more likely to get injured everyone as the body is already damaged. DL have t go first, specially since is the golden event of Strongman. Think about it like if you go to the gym for lifting, were would you place your DL? First, last or somewere in the middle?. You´ll know that for lifting more you put it first.

  • @darthinsidious838

    Yeah as Antonio mentioned, you'd be too sore to max out your DL. Also, during the DL event Mark Henry mentioned that it is the true indicator of power. It is the main event. Also, I think the injuries could be age related? I mean, Caron is 36 while Shaw and Pritchett are 37. I'm not saying they're getting weaker! They lift titanic weights! But age has got to take some kind of toll.

    @@jonasjellesen5009 I'm not so sure, because Thor is older if I'm not mistaken, and he's actually prone to injuries as well. See how he almost collapsed after the Wheel of Pain event. The medics had to come and check on him. He's a machine with the weights, but he also burns out quite quickly. I feel like other youngsters like Mateusz and Martin are better able to sustain their form once they're warmed up. In Mateusz' case though, his deadlifts are his weakness, so he's got a lot of work to do there... But Licis is better positioned to give Haftor pressure in WSM.

    @BTICronox The elephant bar is easier. You have much more pull on the bar before all the plates leave the floor. It's easier to break off the floor with it. That's why deadlifting bars are longer with more whip than a standard power bar (that Eddie used for the 500kg lift).

  • @codykeegan1848

    @codykeegan1848

    No. The elephant bar technically is easier to lift actual weight with because the weights individually come off the floor and not all at once so you actually get closer to your power area by the time the weight is totally off the ground. A regular bar u have to pull it all at once from start to finish. Know what you're talking about before you talk. Eddie still holds the record and no one has actually came close yet.

He's capable of beating Thor on just about any event, but there's rarely a strongman contest without some kind of deadlift. He only got 8th this year because JF Caron got injured. Look at the Ultimate Strongman World Championships last year, he blew everyone away and won 4 out of 5 events, but finished last on the deadlift and lost the overall contest.

    I really hope that next year they change the deadlift event to a normal barbell. The jerking of the bar and serious weights that were being pulled this weekend injured 3 top level deadlifters. A normal deadlift barbell would mean a closer competition next year as there were 4men that could surpass 1000lbs on a normal barbell x
