Three years in retrospect, Maru's actual response back then was "I just have to play like Maru"

This video was on my list again... Watching this again... Makes me think this is the birth of the greatest Terran player in StarCraft 2 history

The casters did really well, though their chemistry isn't quite as polished as Tastosis. That's normal though, Tastosis have been casting for around a decade together. Nice job guys, thank you for your enthusiasm and for filing in! I hope you get more gigs together ^^

Why did Stats gg in Game 1? He had more than double the number of workers as Maru (23 to 11) and both were on one base with tiny armies?

Owen O'Brien Cause he had no army maru was on 2 bases and 2 of his production facilities are on the whole other side of the map. All maru had to do was take out the pylon with like 1 marine and counter attack with the rest and stats is donezo

I like Protoss , but Maru is a great player . He has got so much diversity and different play styles for every single game . That unpredictability just throw off his opponent mindset . It’s like he isn’t playing the game but playing the other player

One thing different with these casters is that the game knowledge they display isn't up to par. Casting from them feels mostly like a narration rather than a discussion of the game, sprinkle in some hype and game statistics. I'd rather have tastosis and the usual bunch, even though Rapid and Valdez aren't necessarily bad.

Agreed. Plus the excitement level is just out of sync with what's going on. I don't like how Rapid makes a huge deal out of tiny things in the game. He'll even interrupt his co-caster to point out mundane, everyday stuff like "Ohhhhhh the bansheee cloooakkkeedd!!!" when it had full health and might have taken one hit from a stalker. Or calling repairing a banshee "cheeky". What? He also tries to use catch phrases to beef up what he's saying, and it's obvious that he's BSing and it's annoying filler... trying to talk about Maru's "trends in this series" based on one prior game. If as terran I build marines, it's not a trend, man, its a terran being a terran. I can appreciate enthusiasm but he still has a long way to go to make his casting not annoy me. Valdez is a good caster, but you can only do as good at the team. I think they need to relegate Rapid to a lower league until he learns to cast better.

I think they have steadily improved, but yeah, compared to all other casters I have seen, they don't give a shit about game knowledge

I don't have that much time to watch every single GSL season from beginning till the finals, but this time I watched every single replay. It took me weeks, 4-6 maybe but I finally get to the finals. I pushed play, I was so excited and then... then I hear some strange, silly voice.... It's not Tastosis... My first reaction? - just turn it off... Imagine: you spent so much time getting to this point and you are finally watching most important match and you consider turning it off? Please, people who pay for this videos... don't do that again! We are watching it not only for the brillint gameplays but also for this intelligent / funny / silly / mature comments. It's just one of a kind... they just complement one another so well. Plus it's hilarious to watch other commentators who try to make fun of them but are unable to do so 'cos they aren't at the same level of intelligence as Artosis.

BatMaru has done it... Congratulations!!!! I bet the comments of tastosis would have been better than valdez and rapid... but in consideration they were not that bad...

With respect to skill of both great players, it was painful to watch how Stats wanna hold Maru's bio push without any spash damage. And as usually all the credit of castings got Maru for perfect control of units, whilst Stats has no chance to hold.

Why do they refer to Maru being the only player who is still in a team when Stats is on Splyce. Maru is on JinAir, Stats is on Splyce... so why refer to JinAir as the last remaining SC2 team? Duh...

Good matches although not as epic as the semi-final ones Same goes for the casting I hope we get an island map on the next ASL :o)

Stats PvT not so good. Watch classic/zesst they put HT in prism so they can't get EMPd.

I haven't kept up with the meta at all since WoL, lol, so this is a noob question. But I don't understand in game 1 why Stats would GG after killing 11 SCVs? Is Maru not at a disadvantage being so behind in workers at that point?

He had fewer workers but also 2 orbitals for worker production + mules vs no 2nd nexus. Also the counterattack might have killed him or at least cost enough mining time (liberators) to get Maru way ahead. Or contain Stats for long enough to basically mine out. Bases have alot less minerals nowadays.

But for an improvement, please don't describe every obvious thing on screen like saying (at 1:13:40) "Ofc there we are just showing you the map info, the two player on your screen. I wish they showed a few stats on screen - BUT we don't have to know the stats!".

Casters. Nice try! Big shoes. As tasteless and artosis would say: tatoo this on your wrists: 1. What are the players thinking going through the game? 2. Give those that don't know the game that well a scale of surprise and appreciation. React small if things are minorly significant, or with great surprise if things are more significant. 3. Advanced level: Imrove the depth (and your accuracy!), try to explain games with confusing or non intuitve outcomes. Imagine you're channeling one or both of those players on stage, their ups and downs and their decision making processes. In this way I think all "competitive coverage" (sports) casters can improve both in regard to informational content (starcraft 2 intelligence) AND emotional connection to the players. Who doesn't want to fall in love with a maru? Well (e)sports fans really do. Good luck and much appreciation for the many years of tasteless and artosis (day9 as well) doing exactly the above.

Depends on what country. Switzerland it was 1971 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_suffrage#Timeline Most other countries, it was 1920, which is still not too long ago. A person born then could still be living today.

맞아요. 프로급의 선수끼리 붙었을 때의 밸런스로 봤을 때 테란이 버프받아야 하는 거죠. 8강에 테란 하나뿐이었어요. 이건 테란이 우승했다고 테사기가 아니라 통계를 보고 말해야 하는 겁니다. 떨어진 테란 프로게이머들 수준이 모자랐냐? 결코 그건 아니거든요.

No tastosis for the final? What an abomination! Like you said, except for tastosis, day9, apollo, and djwheat, the rest of the world casters are noobs, no matter how try hard they are, it's the likability of the voice that matters.

The casters didn't sound like the people I've heard throughout this whole season, during the interview, except for 1 episode where Noregret took over for Tasteless. :-/ I'm not mad, it's just a little weird. This final match is not something I think will be that good anyways. I think some of the good matches have already happened. But still, maybe this might be good. From listening to the first match, I think the casters for this episode are good. Not the good friends talking feeling, but okay. I think the guy on the right fake laughs a bit too much. Also, why so much yelling for marines going into a bunker at 1:16:08 It really isn't exciting. 42:50 Why did his team come to talk to him after the 1st match?? Who knows what they could have told maru. Honestly, all stats had to do was keep the immortals outside his base and warp zealots by the minerals so that Stats kept getting a constant flow of money while maru doesn't. Losing high cost immortals isn't good and then immediately giving up is worse. 57:26 Good trick. 1:39:04 Why go into battle? The liberators are ready. At the very least you need a colossus. I guess there was nothing he could do so he pushed anyways. Like, I really don't get why people initiate the attack against maru. He clearly had everything ready in this situation. Just wait for him to attack first. This last episode was boring.
