I took the 18 high country myself and it's the 5th Chevy I've owned. What sold me on the 18 vs the 19 is the 18 is distinctive and you know it's a Chevy when you see it. The 19 looks like the f150 and the tundra had a love child and Chevy adopted it , come on Chevy stay original and true to the bowtie

+Kev Dawg6 I don't know what they look like but they definitely don't look like what a Chevy should look like. looks like some Grimm times for us true Chevy guys till GM decides to build a good looking Chevy again if it ever happens. I've bin a huge Chevy man all my life loved my 94 Silverado and love my 98z71 Silverado but I hate to say it but my next truck will be a 14+ double cab TRD 5.7 Tundra. I'll keep the 98Z71 to keep reminding how good GM once was when they actually put some pride in there trucks. I actually was a Chevy and 94+ Dodge guy I like like Dodge's up till recently. And as of the 2019 Silverado I hate to say it but I think I'm ready to toss In the gloves for Chevy. Shame on you chevy engineers for creating such a ugly truck I don't know what's worse the 19 Chevy's or them Fucking ugly reaper things.

Tall strong commanding presence. Slick mean looking front end. Muscular lines and stylish appearance. I love the damn thing and someday I’ll trade in my 2009 and get one of these for sure.

I went to look at the 19s but did not like the looks or comfort of the seats. Wound up buying a 18 LTZ 6.2 and it is a very quiet comfortable truck. Can't believe that I just got 20.1 mpg on my first tankfull of mixed driving. The display said 20.2 so it was very close to the actual mileage I got. Coming from a gutless 10 mpg F350 I am happy I made the change.

@@theforestisdark9676 I currently own a 21 Silverado Trailboss, yes you can tell when it starts back up. Honestly GM has had the technology for a while, I think the first vehicle that had this feature was back in the early 2000's. It's not an issue with longevity of the parts, they engineered them to handle the increased wear and tear of the process. They are actually going to produce the next batch of new Silverado trucks without this feature to help with the semi conductor shortage. So if you don't want that feature buy a newer Silverado when they start producing them without it.

I just traded my 2019 6.2L 10-speed for a 2018 6.2L 8-speed. I had to get back into the 8-speed package because the fuel mileage is so much better. The 10-speed doesn't coast like the 8-speed, at any speed, and suffers greatly in mpg for my driving style. 22mpg on the highway driving 82-85mph vs 17.5mpg driving the same in the 2019.

One thing about the 19’ I don’t like is if you’re in the northern states and it freezes and snows, if you have a tonneau cover and parked down hill. You can’t release the tailgate with the button if it’s frozen. Too much tech. Need to keep it simple with a handle. We’re not that lazy. If you need a free hand to push a button to release the tailgate, you have a free hand to release the tailgate with a handle. Still would choose my 18’ over the 19’ anyway. Feels like a truck

Glad they made the hood shorter on the 19. The 14-18 Silverados/Sierras have far too long of a hood making it difficult to see over the truck. In addition, the seat in base models can't be adjusted for height. Don't understand how you can make a truck with such poor visibility. I have a 2010 Sierra and have a great view out front. Hopefully, the 19 corrects this issue.

14 and 15 are good but when they updated the 2016 2017 and 2018 to me it's like a step back 14 and 15 headlights look complete 16 on up looks incomplete because it has only a strip at the bottom of the top headlights I just didn't like it at all, the 2019 is way better it looks a bit like the 2003-2006 Silverado front end and the taillights are also like the 2003-2006 taillights but still similar to the 2014-2018 but the 2007-2013 Silverado is still my favorite because it's just so unique compared to other Chevy trucks to me back in those years the 2007-2013 Silverado was totally different than the 1999-2006 Silverado then the 2014-2018 Silverado was similar to the 2007-2013 Silverado with 1980s and 1990s Silverado resemblance

Interesting comparison. I definitely prefer the '18's front end (shout's out to the GMT400's which are still GM's best looking truck) and tailgate (the stamped Chevrolet screams Ford/Toyota) but the shorter nose is nice. Wish they had taken the opportunity from the shorter nose to shorten the overall truck length rather than adding space to the already roomy back seat. I do like the change to more rounded wheel wells, the square ones on the K2's are an oddity, and the bed redesign is real nice. It's interesting, I think the Chevy K2's look better than the GMC's, but for the T1's, the GMC styling is better IMHO. Nicer grill & headlight treatment and nicer tailgate. Chevy crossbar's on the grill just look weird in both variations (dual bar + bowtie or Chevrolet bar without bowtie) interior changes are nice, but no big deal. Both the K2's and T1's have sweet interiors.

Thanks for the comment, I dont know what the difference is on warranty in Canada and other countries but here in the US there is no difference in warranty between the 2018 and the 2019 model. I'm sure the 2018's have deeper discounts if dealerships still have them we sold all of our 2018's by the end of the 1st quarter of 2019 so if a dealership still has some I'm sure they are heavily discounted to move since I bet they have passed the final pay point. Thanks for your comment though.

I like the exterior of the 18 and the interior of the 19. I would probably pick the 19, more features and more comfort. Heres some pros and cons of the 2019 in my perspective: Pros: -Greater bed capacity, more tie downs and lighting -More rear seat room, headrests, and rear air -better infotainment -better wireless charging location -rear seat storage Cons: -Power release tailgate: could get used to it but doesnt feel like a truck -Something about the styling is funny -Auto start/stop and DFM: probably could find a permanent disable Overall, I could go with both models but the 2019 has more pros than cons. Maybe Chevy will add back a manual tailgate option for LTZ?

that is a good point, most back up cameras on trucks are in the tailgate for security purposes. The locking tailgate helps to prevent theft. There are sensors that register that you are either behind a vehicle at a stoplight or stop sign and it cuts the engine off to conserve fuel. 2018 Midnight edition z71 > 19' Trail Boss all day. I knew the new trail boss was a flop as soon as I saw they removed the "Off Road" text from the Z71 badge and made it body colored. Aluminum gate and hood is not a worthy sacrifice for minor weight savings on a very heavy truck that already gets poor mpgs(less safe in a collision), auto stop/start is not welcome and annoying to deactivate every time you get in the truck (real Chevy owners were already displeased with the cylinder deactivation on last year's model). the dual rear exhaust looks awful on the trail boss, 18' z71 has better looking carbon fiber print tachometer with z71 branding, 18' z71 has easier to use steering wheel controls, the decade old emergency light button on the steering column has since been moved to the center stack and is quite small on the 2019. Trail Boss has no adjustable seatbelt controls for the driver or passenger and no power passengers seat, 2018 drivetrain selector was better and cleaner as a knob instead of buttons, CD player (which yes some people still use) is absent on the 2019. infotainment system looked better in the 18 BUT works better in the 19' granted. Power lift gate is a unnecessary gimmick and just one more thing that will not age well in 10 years, even the led fog lights on the 2018 were carried over to the new 19' Sierra Denali bc they are designed better. The oversized step to access the bed looks ridiculous. 2019 has no power folding mirrors. Watch any review on an outgoing model 17-18' z71 and then check out the 19' trail boss it's easy to see the 19' is a solid downgrade from last years model. A 2inch leveling kit and red tow hooks are not legitimate reasons to charge 57k for the new trail boss over the 48k z71 midnight edition (both 5.3L v8s) and you can't even option the 420hp 6.2L in the trail boss now for 2019 there is only a v6 option for Colorado owners! the only upgrades I can find in the 2019s are the rear vents in the back and the revised reverse camera and tow mode on the infotainment system.. I hate the look of the 19. Lol I'm glad I just snapped up a 18 model before there gone. I've loved the gmc and chevy truck since 2014. I wasnt even impressed that they changed the front end of the Chevy in 2016. But all the same I'm sure the new ones are nice but I like the 14 to 18

Both trucks have since been sold but I believe on the 2019 LT Silverado it was the Gideon/Very Dar k Atmosphere color.

Oddly, the 2019s have inferior fuel economy to the 2018s at least with the 4.3 V6/6 speed auto and the 5.3 V6/6 speed combination. fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=41110&id=38947&id=40953&id=39359&#tab1

Not that odd, those are the two configurations that pay the most for the '19's higher stance.
