2013 Nissan Pathfinder AWD Off-Road Tech Demo
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder is no longer a hard core Body on Frame off-road bashing machine. Instead the new Pathfinder is a modern Crossover with only 6.5 inches of ground clearance and tires designed more for fuel economy than mud. Instead of the traditional off-road parts, the new Nissan has a CVT and a selectable terrain management system. So how does the Pathfinders selectable AWD system work. Check out this video to find out.

Awesome review I love when you guys take these new SUVs that aren't meant to go off road, well off road. And the test of all the modes was so perfect. Thank you!
it went from Pathfinder to Path/cannot finder
you guys are the first person who make a review for this car in the off-road.. good job! this is really informative!
The first generation pathfinders (1986-1995) were bulletproof, fully boxed truck frame, beefy drive train, and the extremely flexible 5 link rear suspension. They were also built in the Kyushu plant which had more strict quality control than the U.S. built Nissans in my opinion. Really great vehicles. This new one is strictly for socer moms and has a whimpy unibody that wont hold up like the original Pathfinders did.
Cool car , for off-roading , and a sure footed beast with all that off-roading tech . Nice show guys !!
Because of this video i bought the wife the 13' pathfinder awd SL. In 7 seven years the pathfinder has never been off road. Love the car though
You guy create the best video, please continue!. I wish i were able to test drive those cars.
RIP Pathfinder (1986-2012)
Great presentation, I love to see you guys going out there do a test on vehicles, Pathfinder is a SUV I thought to get over highlander. Thanks
How do you guys think it'll do in some light mud?
With those tires! I'm impressed. Buy a cheap set of extra wheels and tires and off you go. Seems like a good system anyway. I didn't expect it to make it when he stopped.
When ru guys taking the pathfinder off road in Colorado is it more capable than other crossovers in its segment such as kia Sorento or explorer
Does the new Pathfinders' transmission have a "Sport" mode where it makes the CVT pretend that it has six gears (like in the JX35)? With that, this could have a serious chance.
How absolutely right you are. I'll never get one past 2012.
How much better is the AWD than FWD for mild off roading and snow?
Great video guys. I think this redesigned model misses the marker big-time, but YT doesn't allow comments long enough for that list. But, I see from the comments below that quite a few people seem to like it. I think there are much better options with more utility for less money, but that's just me.
nice looking crossover
It comes with a low range gear like an ATV?
Like the shirt Nathan.
Hey mike, what you think of the 2nd generation Pathfinders? (1996-2004) I hate the 3rd generation and the newest one too. I hope the 2nd generation ones are good, because I want to buy one, that or its sister SUV, the Infiniti QX4.
Heard quite a bit of engine noise there, guys? CVT at work?
The new pathfinder is not ruined folks. This is made for larger families but with a nice interior. Perfect for soccer moms. Js. Best left for on roading.
Which is better off-road: the new Pathfinder or the Subaru Tribeca?
Nissan killing all the the fun and strong look of their 4x4 cars ,, it's getting softer ,, i think the best pathfinder is the 2003 i really love it ,, we used to take to the desert of Dubai and it preform amazingly .. R.I.P pathfinder
Absolutely. I completely agree.
Does Nissan happen to haves 2013 Frontier? Review that one! :)
You guys are funny. Nice review. Not bad.
Can you do a 2013 santa fe too?
mas pq q o Pathfinder deixou de sair off-roader pra ser cross-over?? qual é a ideia então!? tou mto desapontado com essa nova versão!!!
Can you two please, do a review of the Infiniti Jx.. I know you the other gentle has done already, which was ok. But one from both of your guys would be great.
please please dp this same test with other crossovers like Kia-sportage, CX-5, Subaru crosstek
Is the CVT reliable? I read negative things on it.

Looks great! =D
You guys ever did the real off-road test?
no ones gunna take a $40,000 car off road, and on these tests it does fine. this is as far as any ones gunna go. and you said it perfectly, its a FAMILY CAR.
I love this Pathfinder,,,,!!!!!
CVT?
Would have been nice if they had an air suspension so you could raise and lower it if you needed.
I'm about to purchase a 95 Pathfinder. THAT is a real SUV. This is a glorified minivan.
None of these new vehicles are made for going "mudding". If that's what you want than go build one that's made for it. These are family vehicles for people needing extra room but still want the ability of mild off roading and an all weather vehicle for snow. None of these types of vehicles are made for you to take to the local mud hole or off into the wild to blaze a path through rock crawler type terrain.
Nissan saw what more people needed (space, 3rd row seating, fuel economy, and luxury) and went with that. An Escalade? I would never shame myself with an American car.
very good nissan rules
Nathan, Roman... could you ask the Nissan guys a question for me?? I was thinking with these AWD sedans like the Chargers, Chrysler 300's, Fusions, etc, couldn't Nissan make an AWD Maxima or Altima or both? Don't tell me they don't have the technological capability. I mean some drivers want the confidence that AWD brings but don't need an SUV or Cross-Over. Seems that Nissan enthusiasts are left out in that segment. Forced to get a Moron-O or Pathfinder just for the AWD. Doesn't seem right.
Seeing that the Pathfinder has the same 4x4i system in my 2008 X-Trail (Google it.) I'm not in a rush to buy it. The 2012 X-Trail has the AVM system as per 3:30. And my X-Trail has hill decent control!
I'm not going to lie, I am a mother of three and it is a grocery getter for our family but, PLEASE stop referring to it as a minivan. If I wanted a minivan I would have bought one. I wanted a classy, comfortable, roomy and yet rugged SUV that would get me through Adirondack winters. I love my 2013 Pathfinder.
I love this pathfinder more than any other crossovers or even 4x4's. Great job Nissan.
I have to admit I like the front end styling and the interior looks very nice but something happens to the look past the rear doors maybe its the wheels. It needs to look more aggressive. Anyway I bet you GUYS were surprised going up that hill on summer tires.
Nissan is here to make money, if they think the Pathfinder will sell "MORE" by being an crossover its their choice. statistically very very few people use their SUV off-road. so at the end of the day its more important to earn "MORE" money for the company rather than keeping some few off-roaders happy.
Well I managed to take the car in sand trail, I've tow large load, I drove around 7 people, it handle properly on ice. Never feel so secured in a car. But I still manages to brake the front bumper with small snow bank of northern Quebec. I will not install another wimpy bumper. Can't wait to find someone making real life custom bumper for here.
I agree with the front end styling....Towards the rear doors it starts looking like a Hyundai car and the back looks like a cross between the current Gen 07-12 Santa fe and the Highlander.
you call that a hill?come to NH
We did. Look for our Range Rover Sport vs Range Rover Evoque video on KZread!
I'm not sure Terrain Management System is the best way to describe this AWD system. I think simply saying it's a selectable AWD system is more accurate. Maybe you should take a JGC, Ford Explorer, Acura RDX, Subaru Outback, or Audi Q5 up that road to see how they do.
I remember my 93 pathfinder. it was a real SUV, this is just an AWD mini van. Watching this video is like watching an old friend in his death bed, its just sad.
Atleast theres still the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota 4Runner
I'm not sure how they killed it. Sales went up 200% the last quarter of 2012 and are still up 65% in the first month of 2013.
You must live in the city. I bought my fully loaded pathfinder to go off road, pull my boat, and head into the mountains for snowboarding and camping. If you have no idea what the old pathfinders could do, you should stick with an Escalade.
Being a proud owner of an '02 Pathfinder, makes me sad I cannot look forward to a new and true Pathfinder in later years.
I own 2006 pathfinder I was thinking of getting new one when it came out but theres no way I'm getting a minivan with a cvt is stupid a suv with a cvt and front wheel drive standard nissan you kill the pathfinder when you already have a bunch of crossover ...
Tough call because Subaru has one of the best AWD systems in the world.
It's funny how you said on the other video it "with 3500 miles on it just Shit the bed on the interstate," and that you are changing to a Citadel.
The Huachano Koechlin in the backseat @ 4:30 !!!
i was just sharing my opinion, i don't mean to offend anyone, i was just venting, your right, i won't buy one, but i will buy a 1996-99 Chevy Tahoe LT
Todays buyers demand better fuel efficiency. While the previous Pathfinders were great off roaders the mileage was lacking
why?
It.was a Nissan course ...I didn't think the "suv " was going to fail
You ever have a pathfinder that can actually go off road. They took the amazing offroading pathfinder, and turned it into a family car that can barely go on a dirt road. Total shame.
I want a proper 4Runner review!!
It's the 'Murano XL!'
If we can't beat em, join em. It's Nissan for me or nothing.
Good
Is that's offroading, than I go offroading everyday. Lol
I agree that the Tribeca is probably better off road than the new Pathfinder.
CVT? hmm, how long will that last in the real world
they should have stuck with the original unibody version. It was a smaller size and weighed a lot less than the next one which was so much larger in every dimension.
You speak english pretty well. I agree. I'm happy other markets hate the new Pathfinder. Nissan made a mistake.
I love the new Pathfinder!
R.I.P. Nissan Pathfinder.
Is it just me, or do those tail lights remind you of the FR-S/BRZ? o_o
Speaking from numbers you are right they gonna sale more mallfinders (glorified minivans) then off road capable vehicles . But Pathfider name was made by offroad vehicle , it took years and few generations to build , they should give it different name instead of killing this name.
the pathfinder used to be a SUV but now it's a crossover.
With all due respect, I as a Nissan owner/lover myself, I CANNOT call this rugged, it rides on a car/minivan chassis, thats not hate talk, thats fact. There is NO frame like on the previous Pathfinders, just unibody like cars ride on, it has common car parts, transmission, axles, engines, wheels, tires.
Pathfinder has turned into a PavementFinder
well, according to this review, it did find some paths. But still, its been Highlander-ized.
miss my 94 5speed pathy xe
Im pretty sure they already did that, i could be wrong.
I loved my 2001 pathfinder.I got this one when the 2001 started to fall apart.I miss the sidsize suv body but I like improved fuel economy.I know I lost some power going from that monsterous v8 engine to a v6 but my 2001 was a gas guzzler so I won't miss that. I don't LOVE the longer body bc at a glance it can look more like a minivan but my only other option was to get a 2012 or older who's square hard edges annoyed me too BUT it has better ground clearance & shorter dimensions...I guess u can't have it all but nissan really shoudlve left the pathfinder alone & nor reinvent it to a crossover.

it is a very good engine, mine has 135 on it and it still runs like new.
evolution is what drives the world, who needed that old chepo looking box that you took to do shopping anyway to the same mall that the new pathfinder can take u .
Nissan still has the Xterra to carry on the rugged badass flag.
CVTs have been around since the 80s. We still hate them
Rear seat passanger Jorge Koechlin F1 driver (80s) ... automundo/speed Chanel presenter
Yep
Nissan make good car like the tiida, pathfinder , x trail, Navara,
Thats not off-road, its just a cross over thats going up a slippy bit of grass and going down a slightly rocky decent
الكبوت خفيف جدا يبداء يرج على سرعات 170-180 وهذا ناحيه لايوجد فيها أمان ذهبت به الى الوكاله 3 مرات ولايوجد فائده في النهايه تم بيع السياره لهذا العيب
Pretty sad that this has the same amount of ground clearance as my subcompact Versa. I've always loved the pathfinder, but no longer. Serious SUV's are on their way out. Everyone's switching to crossovers, and I understand why. People don't buy SUVs to go off road anymore.
could always add A/T tires on it....
They shouldve just made a murano sport and a 7 passenger murano like what Hyundai did with the Santa fe and kept the old pathfinder......
Subaru forester has 9 inches ground clearance, and a much better AWD system
R.I.P pathfinder
