Hey everyone here I’m showing you how I personally approached this vehicle and removing the parts, again my how to are usually just quick run through for my fellow techs and advanced DIYers

Thank you for posting this. I just noticed that my car isn’t reaching operating temp so it looks like a new thermostat is in order. Audi puts so many objects in the way, sheesh. Still easier to access than the coolant flange though. (I replaced that a few years ago).

Hey idk if your still responding but I just picked up an 07 a4 2.0t and I’m pretty sure that I’m experiencing an open thermostat. Taking a decent amount of time to warm up and experience off and on throttle lag. Not sure if the thermostat affects that and I’m not experiencing any leaks so that’s why I’m here 🤣

How insanely ridiculous to have to remove all of that to replace what's consudered a maintenance/wear part. I love driving my B7, but some of the maintenance and working on it is just stupid.

Mine needs a new thermostat, 02 sensor on bank 1 which I hope is the cause of the misfire in cylinder 1 and 2, and a Turbo Diverter Valve and I just bought it for 2,800. I miss my Honda lol

They do have a piston and spring, it's inside the housing. The housing is a weird shape because of the angles of the coolant pipes that connect to the housing.

@@heyyitssdianaa4 sounds like you need a new mechanic lol so on this engine there’s a water pump in the back of the engine close to where this thermostat is. Those water pumps always leak but I’ve seen on a several of these cars with this engine where the thermostat causing over heating issues and coolant temp sensor on the back of the cylinder head not reading properly. But your mechanic should make sure everything is working proper ie. your cooling system is flowing meaning no restrictions in radiator or water pump not circulating Making sure the recovery tank cap is holding proper pressure, or making sure the cooling fans are turning on when they’re suppose too. And if the thermostat is opening or staying stuck closed. And worst case scenario making sure you don’t have blown head gaskets.
