You just saved me $800 that the Audi dealership in Los Angeles wanted. GREAT video, THANKS! Ha, the dealerships must hate your videos! Well done!!!
Did this step by step myself, saved me $500 at the Audi dealership. Just make sure you have the proper tools and its no problem. Thanks a bunch, will definitely reference the rest of these A4 videos in the future.
fantastic video was able to replace for $60 and saved $700 the automotive shop wanted.
Edgemotors staff knows how to fix car! Used them many times and told friends to use them too. Good job!
Just bought me an Audi a couple of days ago. I will be subscribing to your channel. As a DIY mechanic I'm impressed.
Wooooow i'm an idiot that hose that you lubed with the oring i was tryjng for.like 2 hours and wouldn't go in. My arm was already hurting. Then i lubed it like you did and went in so easy lol. Thank god for youtube.
Thanks for making this video, it helped immensely!
Outta all the videos showing this job, this is the best and easiest for me to understand, thanks
Просто тащусь от ваших видео , респект парни!все чётко и профессионально , у меня 1,8т BFB менял термостат по видео от Сергея на а4 2004 года .
You guys are amazing. Helped me so many times!
you guys are awesome! thank you for posting these videos
This guy is spot on. Used this video. 2 hours later completed without any problems at all. The 2 lower bolts on by the oil cooler are the hardest part of the whole job. Just watch listen and learn.
I'm a chic with an Audi A4 with over 200,000 original miles. You make me wanna fix my own car!
This video was very helpful. I don't know why someone would leave a negative comment. I give you two thumbs up
Wow.jst woow dude. Fast, clear and straight forward! Amazing my guy. I am a DIY beginner and im more then thankful i came across your video ✌️🙌
Man you really know your way around that motor.
always top quality dyi!
Thank u so much! Great video.
Your sound has been off on a few of your videos. The sound isn't timed to the video correctly. Other than that good video as usual.
Thank you for this Great video
Excellent video Thanks
Thanks for making this video. You are fast doing it also, so If you are close to me I would definitely hire you.
Good video very helpful Thanks
great video thanks for sharing
No worries about the out of sync audio, the video is very good and the lighting is great too. Exactly what I needed it. Thanks sooooooo much. One question? What brand thermostat you recommend and what temperature you think is better? Keep on posting my friend.

2009 Tiguan, 2.0 tsi, 107,000 miles. Burnt rubber smell today. Ant correlation between that and antifreeze. My wife only added a few ounces and it was about a week ago.
Excellent instructional video. I'm hesitant to use power tools to tighten bolts, but hey, you're a professional.
once again....TOP NOTCH mechanic work!! keep up the good work bud
Is the process pretty similar on a Audi B8? I'm having the same problem and need to replace the coolant thermostat
Great video. I am about to start this job but have a few questions. Tools needed? What to do with old coolant? And lastly, I thought I read a while back this job can be done without removing the alternator? Thanks for any advice.
Simplified compared to some other videos that have you taking unnecessary steps.
If you've drained the cooling before starting, will it still leak that much coolant when you remove the thermostat (or the water pump)?
thank you, i can now change my thermostat with ease. can you make a video on how to change the cam chain on a 2.0tfsi audi b7 as well? as i cannot find a video for it.

Can you mix green and pink coolant? If not what is your experience with the problems?
@EDGEMOTORS
8 жыл бұрын
+Dale Fluegel no, you can not. it will turn brown and contaminate the whole coolant system, which will lead to allot of problems. you must flush the system truly out and replace it with g12 coolant.
hey man. how much would u guys charge to replace thermostat and oil filter housing gasket? I already have the OEM parts. your shop is about 1:30 hr from me but if price is right, I see how careful you are working with cars so I wouldn't mind doing the drive
@EDGEMOTORS

It will be some where around 300-400$ all together
Would this fix the code, p2181 cooling system performance?
Why would you use full strength antifreeze and not mix it 50/50 with water ? Antifreeze does just that...not freeze but it's the water that has cooling properties and without it it won't cool properly during summer time. Always ix 50/50 water and coolant(assuming coolant is not premixed already).
I love you're videos boss! But what did you lube the o rings with? Kinda looks like grease.

Can I reuse the old coolant that I took put if it's a couple months old?
off topic question: I have a B7 Audi A4, and would like to know if a dying battery can cause the throttle to go into limp mode?
@EDGEMOTORS
8 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by throttle going into limp mode???
@rickytomatoes
8 жыл бұрын
+EDGEMOTORS sorry I don't think it's really limp mode. the car basically dips RPMs every now and then when idle and the engine will occasionally stop running.
@EDGEMOTORS

+RickyTomatoes did you scan the car to see if you have any codes in there?
@rickytomatoes

EDGEMOTORS I have a basic OBDII scanner, and used that, but no codes were present. One more thing, when the car does stall, the battery light comes on.

Wheres the engine coolant temperature sensor location? the right rear of the engine ?
@EDGEMOTORS

Yes behind the cylinder head there is a black plastic coolant flange, it has couple of coolant hoses connected to it and on the right side facing right and down a coolant temp sensor, it’s gray in color with 2 wire connector...

Good Lord... what happened to the days of thermostats being a $5 part that could be replaced in 20 minutes?
i'll admit, I'm not a mechanically inclined person so i called the shop I frequently go to that strictly does Audi vehicles and they said it would be a 4 hour job. am i missing something here? cause you were able to do it in about 20 minutes

The fact that i can do it in allot less time than the book says, and the book does say about 4 hours... Does not mean that I won't charge you for the whole time... You have to remember all the overhead, training time and tools cost...

hi,i have the same car and my thermostat shows me 70 degrees wen driving and goes up to 90 degrees when stending still,i guess i must change it, right?...one more question,those type of cars have two intercoolers?thanks and sorry 4 my bad english ^^

Same exact problem as you. Only reaches 90 when idling. I used Vcds to monitor temps and the temp gauge might show 90 but car true temp is 75 while driving. Did you fix with main thermostat or inline thermostat?
@EDGEMOTORS

Yes if the temp goes down as you drive, the t stat has to be replaced... and yes they do have 2 intercoolers

Good video overall, but the points you need to know are: 1. He has done it 5 mins ago and pipes / clips come off easily. It want be that easy if your pipes are in place for 10 years 2. The accessories belt will move and in order to put it around the idler you have to undo the top 2 screws of the tensioner , so you can pivot it out of the way.

@LynxStarAuto

Loooool. What on earth are you saying? The tensioner is slackened with a 17mm wrench. The belt is slipped off the alternator pulley. All of the hoses and pipes will remove fairly easily. The hardest is the lower radiator hose which requires wiggling it whilst pulling back on it simultaneously. This is clearly showed in the video as he fought it off. From there, everything else is straight forward. This is a one hour job tops.
like.. calm down mate! too much coffee?
need rear flange video really bad
I'm having an issue with car turning on and the fans turn on with it, I put heat to like 80 and max and it blows out cold and also the coolant level was -40° when I checked it with OBD11 I assumed it was the Coolant Temp Sensor so I replaced that and got a CEL for it I cleared it and still came back, the fans are still running every time I start up car and they don't turn off I'm not sure what it could be at this point the I'm going to replace the thermostat, begging of next week when it comes in hopefully see if that may solve my issue but if anyone knows what is causing this issue please let me know would really appreciate it.

The ends hoses connects to are plastic? When these become brittle and break these motors and the whole car become junk. I bet Audi has designed these plastic parts to deteriorate and replacements to cease production or cost an arm, leg, eye and sometimes the kidneys to obtain in 15 to 20 years time when they need replacing.

We’ll figure all manufacturers have life expectancy of their cars around 5 years, and they work on getting the cost down as much as they can but so it last the life expectancy....
@crxdelsolsir
5 жыл бұрын
EDGEMOTORS I think the key word there is life expectancy. It is no longer how long it can naturally last but rather how long manufacturers want it to last, which is being reduced to increase turn over and profit. Also key is the prevention of extending life expectancy by no longer making use of low cost universal and interchangeable parts. Manuf. are not just cost saving driven. They would rather spend more to have unique parts if it would increase profits. All are now prpprietary and no aftermarket options eg. hoses were round and interchange and available via aftermarket suppliers. They spent money on square hoses and unique clips to prevent repairs.
