    ive done loads of a4,s its just easier to take the PAS pipe off, disconnect the coolant pipes and move the front scuttle panel as one and place the ac condenser underneath the car hand hold it in place wuth a tie strap, then you can get to the crank pulley bolts with out pissing about

    Metal ones do not leak like you explain in said video. If manufactured right and not cheaply pressed like the plastic ones they last twice the lifetime of cheap plastic one you put in. You're just trying to get customers to come back to you when its not needed. Plus there is VW OEM Metal Impeller ones so don't tell your customers the opposite of the truth. Also huge common issue with plastic ones is they shatter making them the worse thing VW ever put in a car.Their bearings are pressed and sealed unlike plastic ones where they are just pressed and when get old and weak they fall out causing a pump and or timing belt failure.

    Hey EdgeMotors! I really enjoy the videos you have been making. I recently just followed the cam follower video to do a replacement and it worked out great! I do have a question about Timing belts though, I didnt feel comfortable at my current level to do a timing belt change (2008 A4 2.0L) so I brought it to local VW/Audi shop. I am currently experiencing (after 2-3 weeks) high idle RPM and 1st and 2nd gear are rough as well. Is this a cause of a bad timing belt install or maybe something else?

Really, remove the front end of the car for simple maintenance, my God!

    Thanks for your videos. Always helpful. I recently changed my timing belt on my 2008 A4 B7. 95,000 miles on first timing belt. I noticed when I took off the upper cover that the timing mark on the tooth was about a tooth and a half to the left of the arrow. The crankshaft mark and harmonic balancer were lined up. The car was running fine. So the question was whether to line up on the marks or to original position. I chose to go in between. I manually rotated to check for interference. all good. Started car and ran well for about 40 miles. Then P0300 error. Replaced coils and plugs. Ran fine for 5 minutes then P0302 error. I think the timing is off and wondering to go with timing marks or original position. Thoughts? Thanks.

  • @EDGEMOTORS

    @EDGEMOTORS

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’d go over part numbers on all pulleys to make sure they are from your car… and then set it to the marks. Check for interference and try to run it. Btw, if it should be timing issue with misfires, you should of get a camshaft position sensor code or cam/crank correlation code.

  • @dark4137

    @dark4137

    emonneil0912 Coolant bleed is pretty simple on here, leave the front end raised(helps purge air), Fill the radiator up to the low mark on the reservoir. Leave the cap off, turn the the car on and turn the heat on high and let it run until you feel the air from the heater become hot. Its normal to to take about 30-40 mins for this to happen. Afterwards, top off the fluid put the cap on and you're done.

    Yikes band aid fix back fired. If you have a bleeder on the hose bleed that as well. Sometimes it's meant to bleed one of the heads. I know it's like that for the Chevy 3400 motorss. You don't want to take it all the way out, you want to look for a steady stream of coolant. Open and close it a few times. When the heat get warms

    Alright I got a 2006 A4 2.0 T and I got a ? About these motor my check engine code is reading cylinder 1 miss fire , cylinder all 4 miss fire , after troubleshooting a few things like coil packs and plugs and also did a compression test to check the gasket and it was fine.... I turned to fuel injection as I took off the intake manifold and high pressure fuel pump regulator near the back of the motor to get to the injector, I realize it was broken "high pressure fuel pump " so after replace that 570 doller part and all other small things like injector #1 200 , and plugs and coil packs another 200, the bloody thing it ran great for about a month no check engine light nothing then the light came back and now I'm back in the same spot with the motor shaking and miss firing , could it be the belt or something else idonno what the hell to do now where would I go from there ......

    +Enrique Hinojosa Only if its 4motion, it will be identical. If your Passat is FWD then the procedures are about 75% identical, except that FWD engines are mounted Transverse instead of long-ways. This job is very identical to my 1.8T 2001 Jetta. Even though my engine is Transverse. Brings good memories.

    Why do you say the metal impeller water pump will start leaking after a few thousand miles? Is the plastic impeller a much superior quality than the metal impeller?

  • @EDGEMOTORS

    Original one is. Those aftermarket pumps suck. And I think they don’t balance the impellers on the metal once.... and that adds on to bad quality....

    Dude... I just stripped 3 of the pulley bolts HOLY SHIT what a damn pain in the ass. You were right about the project lol. Multiple trips to harbor freight and lowes.. Whats the best way to line up the cam gear? It looks off every time I line it up. After pulley and cover is off can I mark them with paint and put them back on and line up the crank that way? Its on the VDub 2.0TFSI

    Yes you could do that, just make sure you check the oem marks later... Don't forget, if you off by one tooth on the crank gear, it will be only a 1/2 tooth off on the cam gear...

    Perfect video, well done. Nice trick moving the crank pulley back a touch to account for belt moving the pulleys after tensioning. I guess the cam pulley didn't need to move back because you didn't mention it. Maybe it moves just an insignificant amount. Thanks for the video.

    If I were you I'd toss those stupid allen head bolts and either go with a grade 10.9 flange head bolt or torx bolt. I have no idea why Audi has such an obsession with those. They are not made for high torque applications which the crank pulley would be one.

  • @EDGEMOTORS

    @EDGEMOTORS

    Well, the hex bolts won’t fit there... the socket would be too big to go onto the bolt... the torx may be....

  • @vistadrummer09

    @vistadrummer09

    I was talking about the flange hex bolts. They have a smaller diameter head size (minus the flange) for a socket to fit on versus a regular hex head. I've used them successfully in places where only a torx, etorx, or allen head would work. For instance on the starter bolts on a BMW e36 and the transmission bell housing bolts are normally etorx because of the casting. A normal hex head will fit into the area until the socket bottoms out against the bellhousing so you can't advance it in any further. A flange head hex bolt with a smaller socket requirement works fine. Also you could try etorx as well. It would save from stripping out those allen heads.
