    Man, I've only watch 1 1/2 of your videos so far, but it is just so refreshing to see such a well thought out, well put together video. Your way of doing things some folks might miss, but seeing the care that you put into the little things; replacing nuts/bolts after removing them to make sure they don't get lost, slightly breaking loose all the bolts on a component before removing all of them, using a screwdriver to break the hose seals, the little captions that tell you the bolt/nut/screw size, actually wearing gloves 😂just bravo. You're a true master. Thank you.

    I was very impressed that you did not remove the full core support. I had b5 S4 bi turbo, and that was like step one. Remove front of Audi. Now I have b7 A4. I was never brave enough to do the timing belt for my b5, I am very confident to do this on my b7. Thank you for the video. This has helped me brush off the dust of my Audi knowledge. I have been rebuilding Wrx STI for a bit. I am now hopefully more experienced.

    I'm happy you are able to get value from my content, thanks for watching! The plastic one is less durable, but less likely to damage the engine if it fails. The metal one is more durable, but it's more likey to damage the engine if it fails. Some companies claimed that the metal one is an upgrade. I've installed both, with no issues afterwards so far.

    Excellent video 🙏🙏 thank you so much!! Could you tell me the Water Pump Brand Name that you used as a replacement. Reason I'm asking is because they're offering me 2 brands. Meyle and Trucktec which of these 2 do you think is the best one to buy that lasts longer?

    I had to get a valve job on my B7 engine and the machine shop that performed the job didn't have the specs to set the camshaft back so they would be at TDC. Do you have a video for that or any guidance you can provide, before I put the head back on (don't want to bend another valve).....

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    You'll need the camshaft locking tool to lock the cams in place, set the timing on the small chain on the back of the engine, then set the timing on the timing belt.

    Hey! I've never worked on a car (aside from fixing the radio fuse), but I have an Audi A4 2006 convertible with the only current issue being the water pump, and a transmission control module a little bit down the line. Mechanics have quoted $1400+ for the water pump but this fix really doesn't look that hard, is that a legitimate fix price? Also is this something I should even consider having not worked a car before? It'd be nice to get it done but I don't want to mess up the car worse.

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yea, I would not suggest doing this kind of repair if you've never worked on cars before. This is an advance repair eventhough it doesn't look hard. If the timing is not done correctly it can damage the engine internals.

    Hay I have a question about the thermostat assembly, would it also leak under the engine, as I just changed the water pump thanks to your video, but I have a small leak only when the car is parking at work. any advise will help thanks

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it is possible for the thermostat to leak coolant and it will eventually end up under the car. There is an O-ring on the thermostat that's prone to leaking. But definitely look over your work and make sure it's not leaking from the water pump that you recently installed. Otherwise you can jack the car up and let it idle for a while, then try to trace where the leak is coming from.

    @@CraftyWorkshopBuilds noted as this leak was before and still after the water pump installation, even took it to a shop to do a pressure test and nothing I guess the thermostat leaks when the car stops and leaks very slow. will try to change it and see what happens. thanks again for your help

    If you put alignment marks like I did, after you install the new belt the alignment marks should line up the same as when the old belt was on. if it's not the same, you should remove the belt and reinstall it to line up with the marks.

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    The screw driver helps me to identify if the pistons are on the down stroke or the up stroke, and that's what I'll use to set the engine to top dead center.
