German engineers: our cars are very serviceable! all you have to do to replace a belt is take apart 50% of the entire vehicle. it's quite simple. 5 minutes to replace the belt and 5 hours to get to that belt.

There is the Audi service position which doesn't require the complete removal of the front end... In this video they don't demonstrate the "easy" way. Anyway all repair shops in Europe will replace the belt+ water pump without even putting the front end into the "service position" or dismantle the front end as demonstrated they can do the replacement even with limited access. Lastly the replacement isn't difficult its just timing consuming for the average Joe plus u need to have some experience with the timing marks on this engines so instead of paying 100euros for some shop to replace it u can spend 6-8 hours to do it urself....

@@autodocuk I doubt it. It just amazes me you would remove a timing belt at anypoint on an engine without finding the factory marks. What even worse is this is a VVT engine meaning at some points of rotation you may not have rotational slop on one of the cams. AMAZING what you did here.

Thanks for the helpful video. I noticed when I took my upper cover off my timing belt the alignment was off by a tooth and a half from the arrow mark. The mark is on the left side of the tooth and the arrow mark is on the right side of tooth in between the teeth. Crank shaft marks aligned. The car was running fine at 95,000 miles in this position. (original belt) So with new belt I placed my alignment marks so the arrow mark was centered on the tooth with the mark. (in between the tooth mark and original position). Manually rotated belt to check for interference. All good. put car back together. Ran for about 40 miles no issues then car started missing. P0300 error. Changed coils and plugs. Ran good for 5 minutes then P0302 error. I think my timing is off. Should I align to designated marks or original timing position. Thanks

Nice vid but why take the whole front end off? Just move the front clip (lock carrier) to Audi service position 1+ (also called Audi service position 2). Unneeded: -Headlight removal -Intercooler ducts removal -Power steering cooler removal -Ambient temp sensor removal -Trans cooler lines separated -Coolant lines disconnected? -AC lines? What? Why? I'm tired just watching this. Just slide/pivot the lock carrier forward and rest it on the front snub motor doughnut. The cables and hoses are long enough and made to do this. Provides more than enough room to service the TB and water pump. Geez. All the best, Hayabusafalcon.
