    I just had my A4 in for service yesterday. They mentioned I needed a new cover gasket as well and they wanted to charge me close to 700 dollars for the replacement… You just saved me money sir! I really appreciate the quality of this video and how well laid out everything was! You just made a subscriber out of me :)

    @BlueManeStudios $700?? That’s insane. I’m grateful for KZread videos and internet how-to guides. In the years I have owned my A4 I have replaced the thermostat, coolant flange, cam follower, and resealed the fuel injectors. I hate to think what the dealer would have charged for parts plus $150/hr labor.

    Why 700 dollars for a gasket. Did mine for around $ 100. I'd do it myself but I'm still learning

    700 dollars for just the valve gasket job seriously? I think that job it's between 250 to most 400. I'm taking a guess. I think they wanted to charge you 700 to replace the whole valve cover that it's around 450 genuine Audi if buy it at ECS tunning. That's still a lot. They probably get an OE replacement Valve cover for 250 and the rest goes to the mechanic. I'm thinking to do the valve gasket job by myself but it seems difficult. Removing the hose and the sequence bolts torque specs seems a little complicated. I would also have to buy a few tools if I want to do it easier and correct.

    Fantastic video. Only comment I'd add is that people should check that the valve cover holds pressure blowing from the front one of the multiple PCV ports to the larger clamped hose going to the turbo. There is an internal channel that apparently cracks on many valve covers which leads to all kinds of oil consumption problems. If yours doesn't hold pressure, the fix is to replace the valve cover. I was lucky and no such issues so it was a super straightforward job just like the video shows very clearly - well done!

    Hi i have a question, i did a valve cover swap and a power cooler swap, about a week later it started leaking, i went under the hood and checked then noticed 2 of the screws on the top left werent even tightned , it was my fault for not paying attention, i tightned it and it started driving a bit better but the next day it kept leaking but slowly when i stop the car i notice oil and coolant at the bottom, milky inside the oil cover. Did an oil change drained all liquids , oil was completely black , made no difference. I then opened the gasket tried to dry it and sealed it back with a gasket sealer, worked way better for about 2 days but i can feel it slowly dying again, i have no other issues other than that, any tips ? i plan on getting a new gasket that is completely dry to try that instead of reusing the old one with the seal, it was still a bit oily but i tried my best to dry it,, thank you for your videos.

When changing the screws does it come out easy? When changing the pcv gasket remove and install like the valve gasket right? I want to make sure I do the job the right way. what size of the hose clamp I need to buy once breaking the original Audi clamp? Do you recommend to change the oil after this job? I recently change the coils and spark plugs on my car since I have the oil leak problem do you think it's good to change the spark plugs again since it have oil on them? I was thinking of changing them again. Hope you answer all my questions sorry for asking so many questions but I want to make sure I do a great job.

    The hose clamp should be slightly larger then the hose, no need to change the oil as long as its with in the mileage range, also no need to change the plugs if they are good just wipe them off and check the plug gap for good measure- .032 I believe.

    Hello, when the packaging is damaged, does it cause a spark plug to get wet with oil? Or it's probably another problem.

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    Yes, if the gasket is damaged it can cause oil to leak into the sparkplug tube, onto the sparkplugs.

    I have a few questions when changing the valve gasket. Do you have to replace the valve gasket screws bolts? I think it's 14. Do you have to thight the screws bolts in a sequence using a torque wrench? What would be the sequence? You make this job look so easy but I think I would mess up everything. Lol

  • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    @CraftyWorkshopBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    Nah, I reused the screws once they are in a good condition. There is a torque sequence and torque specs for the cover, you could find the specific details if you search for the manual online. But, I've done a lot of valve cover jobs, so I now just tighten by hand. Lol, nah you shouldn't mess anything up, once you take your time.

    @@CraftyWorkshopBuilds Thank you so much for taking your time to do the video and time to message back. I did look for the manual to see what's the torque specification but some say is 7 ft lbs of torque others say is 8 ft lbs and I seen 10 ft lbs. Now I'm more confuse. I also read that you have to tighten the bolts 3 times in that criss cross pattern I seen the diagram. I think you start with the 1 and 2 then go down to 3 and so on until you do all 14 bolts 3 times in sequence and you torque it the 3 time. I have a 3/8 torque wrench that don't have 7 nor 8 ft pounds it starts with 10-80 ft pounds. Can you help find the specific torque and should I buy another torque wrench that starts with 5 ft lbs of torque?
