A less-laborious way: Get the module loose (don't have to remove those side clips completely, just the single screws on the end), and rotate it 90 degrees up, bringing the right side up so the module is now vertical, and the ends of the cable housings point up. Get some Triflow bike chain lube - the little bottle, not the spray - and drip a couple of drops in the top of each housing. Gravity will pull it down inside the housing. Do this a few times, and give that knob a spin here and there to move the cables around, work the chain lube in. Then it's easy to put it all back together.

You know I wish I'd a thought of that. I often dive deeper on projects than I need to in retrospect.

@@ivanoutdoors I had done a fair bit of reading on the topic before coming across that strategy. Worked like a charm.

Tri-Flow all day! It's one of the only lubes that does a great job of breaking down old, sticky grease while lubricating everything. With others I've tried, the grease gets sticky again as soon as the lubricant dries. I don't use Tri-Flow on my bikes, but I use it in many other places.

My 2003 controller had become really stuck. Pulled the radio partially out, which gave some access to controller, then sprayed in some PB Blaster and worked back and forth some. That did it, now works well. May not work for everyone, but may be a fast solution.
Thanks for this video! I was able to fix my RV’s heater/vent system thanks to you. Took the advice of the first post and didn’t disassemble the cables. I was able to lube everything that moves and it works much better now!

I just want to add one thing…the “clipboard” clip is easy to remove by pushing a little tab on the top part of the clip base. I struggled with this for a little while before finding this! Also, the torx screw that is accessible, but is hard to get to behind the clip can be easily removed with a T handled 7/64” Allen key. To reinstall the same screw, just hold it in place, in the hole, with a small piece of masking tape before placing the dash back in place.

No problem
Have the same problem. Was it just the cables not running smooth, or was it the knob was stuck. I also seem to have a black wheel. Why is it my parts are always different. Thanks.
Great video, thank you. My yellow and black actuate knobs that are mounted to the firewall don't turn. Recommendations for loosening those up?

Try WD40?
Great video but I'm wondering what actuates those two levers on the firewall you're working by hand at the 3:27 mark and onward for a while. How do they fit in? (My problem is I can't get any warm air directed at the windshield...only through the other, lower vents.)

Those are actuated directly by the big zone selection knob in the control unit. The knob I had trouble moving is what moves those levers on the fire wall.
How is this holding up now?

Very well. Still just as smooth as the day after I fixed it.

Did you have a similar problem?
My problem is that I can't adjust the temperature it just goes from cold to hot with no pressure as it has nothing on the back

My temp control also isn't functioning. I'll apply lubricant to the vent controls and hopefully post a video on a fix to the temp control. I may have to replace it with a different temp control.
only 1 screw each side was enought to remove
