2000 GMC Z71 2500 Gauge Cluster Swap

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I wanted to add a transmission temperature gauge to my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. I purchased a Gauge cluster from a 2000 GMC 2500 that had a tranmission temperature gauge. I swapped in the gauge cluster and had my mileage programmed into the 2500 gauge cluster.

I have to say your video was right on point. Everything went just like you described. my old 1500 Z71 Custer was kind of beaten , so I look for a new one and wanted to upgrade with the Trans temp Gauge. I found one on eBay,believe it or not, for about $70. so I jumped on it, because that's a great price even if it didn't work it's not a lot to lose. I got it about 3 or 4 days, and it is.great. I got it installed in about 5 minutes and will may go and get it reprogrammed for the actual mileage. however I don't intend to sell it anytime soon, and if I did I would just provide the old gauge cluster and tell a buyer what the calculated miles are.

Very nice. I found one at pick n pull. Since my current one has a short and goes crazy when I’m driving…… hopefully this replacement isn’t a bad part

Sounds like it is cheaper to just have the transmission temp gauge added to the existing cluster. There are places on the internet that will add it for less than $100.

Mileage is stored in the cluster. You have to get your mileage programmed into the new cluster.

Just swapped an 05 2500hd cluster with trans temp into my 07 Sierra rcsb classic and plugged right in, now I got trans temp and a cluster with all motors that work (old cluster had 2 gauges that failed) $100 for low mileage good cluster and works with no programming

I have a 2000 Sierra 1500, just got a cluster from a 2500, i did the same swap you did, but mine is dead no power or signal to the gauge itself. the motor itself works but for some reason i'm not getting power or signal to the gauge. is there anything else you did? Fuse? Sensor? Thanks

Did the mileage reading change after the swap? Is the new cluster going to show the original mileage on your truck? I am changing the cluster on my 01 Silverado and need to know if the mileage reading remains or if I need to reset it. Thanks

The mileage is kept on the cluster. So if you swap the mileage will not be correct. You will need to get the cluster programmed with your mileage.

that's what I was thinking too I thought somehow the computer told the gauge cluster what to read therefore not really mattering whether it was a v6 or V8 cuz I would love to have the hundred and twenty mile per hour speed o and the transmission temp gauge is a plus. And they just look better than the OEM gauges... Thanks for your input I'll give it a try 👍
