at 5:42 that's the Tsunami edition Celica. One problem you missed with the c60 6 speed transmission is the shift gate is really close together and somewhat hard to get used to. Also, if you are revving a gts manual in neutral to test the "lift" activation, the car WONT rev past 6200 if it does the lift bolts are most likely bad. Also one more problem on the 2ZZ is the VVTLI oil screen. If that is clogged the car won't engage lift.

One thing no one mentions is FUEL ECONOMY. My 2000 Australian delivered ZR 6 SPD manual.is so cheap to run on the highway, around town not so much fun to drive due to the high ratio 1st gear & riding the clutch in traffic. Otherwise, every time I drive it I feel 17 again !

A pawsome friend of mine had one of these when we first met, after it got bonked by a semi truck he had it painted a really slick orange with black stripes and graphics that matched a tattoo he's super proud of. 2000 gts with mwr stage two cam job and a port and polish new mwr oil pump and oil pan. The only problem I have ever had is an oil leak from around the head which was not bad and the E brakes rotted out on me. Had it for 20 years, still have it and before that had a 1990 Celica gt. Yes the car is still slow, but it sounds and feels like a proper sports car. Forgot the headlights will yellow over time, I just polish it with Meguires headlight restore wax when I wash the car and Plastix to coat them.

I had an '03 GT that I miss dearly. Unfortunately, the previous owner really beat that car, and it needed so much work that I was forced to get rid of it. But finding one now in decent shape is hard! There really aren't that many left---most of them were either abused, or driven in road salt, and then they found their way into junkyards. If you're buying a GT, make sure to stay away from 2000-2002 models; they had problems with the oil control rings on the pistons, and they burned a lot of oil. They fixed it in 2003

I have a 2003 GT TRD that wasn't beat to death, and no rust. Indeed, a rare find. I really like it, it's my summer toy, had it 2 years now, and I don't beat it either. I have no illusions that it's a fast car, because it isn't, but it handles nice, still gets attention, and it very good on fuel. My first car many years ago was a Celica, a rusty 1977 GT. Later on I bought a very nice used 1981 GT, that was a good car. I guess Celica is in my blood.

Time travel postulation: America never got the 7th gen, and instead got the hatch and wagon platform variants of the Corolla? Yeah yeah, Matrix/Vibe is an amalgam of the two. So what if the Celica never left port, bound for the U.S.? Even worse, what if Canada and Mexico got it, and we didn’t? Would it be sought after? Would we feel the same way today, 19 years since the last one was built? If you own one, love it. If you don’t, it’s a two door Corolla, mostly. In stock trim, you sit headlight height to all other vehicles. This makes night driving difficult. My office lady spec GT(silver, auto, rear drums, optional wing and rear wiper)gives me 36 MPG, 45-75 MPH will surprise you. It does sit low, bear that in mind.

2000 Celica GT would be 5spd. However , in 2003 Toyota🇨🇦 built the Pontiac Vibe GT VVTL-i 6spd. auto recyclers charge less for a Pontiac then Toyota engines, make it a common swap .
