    7th generation Celica's got good reputation, and I have got many compliments on mine when just sitting at a red light with rolled down windows and open sunroof (which makes car even more aggressively stanced). I do not see people giving compliments to BMW or Mercedes owners because their cars are no longer unique or aggressive like the 7th Gen Celica.

    Yes , a nice well kept clean 7th Gen Celica is always a head turner there's so many that are in bad and beat up or riced condition tho.

    Everything in this video is one word.... FACTS . Trust me over 300,000 miles and mine still screams down the highway (Testament to doing 105 late night and got busted with a warning) and comes to a dead stop after top speed no vibration no knocking no rattling but purr's like a kitten ready for more. Recently had the alternator changed in the 300,000 range and the tech at the Toyota center said that alternator was the original that came with the car. I took it to Toyota cause that bottom bolt to loosen the Alternator was torqued very tight. So tight I started to strip the bolt. But over 300,000 and first alternator change.... TOYOTA QUALITY right there people.

    I just bought a 2000 gts..Have you ever replaced the water pump,fuel pump timing chain?? Just asking my car has 200,000 miles on it...Trying to figure out when to start replacing parts thanks

    @@danielbricker8664 Congrats on your GTS... Very Good Buy. Even over 300,000 miles I never replaced the water pump. But I would advise just to keep the good radiator fluid in it. Make sure that fluid is not dirty full of rust. Cause good clean Radi' fluid will lube the water pump. I changed my Fuel pump every other tune up. Along with the Filter, Strainer Screen and Fuel Pressure Regulator. You can tackle that your self its easy and full-filling. KZread has a vid on changing it just follow along with the chic in the vid. Here is the vid ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/omWNk9GQhJvWkag.html ) On the topic of the fuel pump make sure you at least keep half of tank of gas in the tank. This will make sure your pump is staying cool by keeping it submerged under the gas level. Running the pump dry (not submerged under the gas level) will over heat it. The timing chain, the manual recommends adjusting it at the 300,000 mile mark. They say adjust but what they mean is change it. But it can last a bit longer mine has 310,000 now and the chain is still tight. I change the MAF sensor every other tune up. A symptom to know your MAF sensor is dead is if you start the car it runs then dies quick. You can clean it every now and then but it will go bad on you at some point. It happened to me so now it gets changed every other tune up. If you can go for Denso parts for your tune ups. I run Denso Fuel pump, Fuel Injectors, Fuel Filter, Fuel Press Regulator, plugs, MAF sensor, Alternator, Ignition Coils (on the coils if not Denso I use QYL brand). Also be aware to change the ignition coil wire connectors. With over 300,000 miles the wires can sometimes dry rot a bit and cause the coils to not ignite the plugs correctly. When that happen the car will drive for a while then stop dead on you. No need to change the entire wire harness, just the connector and connector pig tail wire. I normally change the coils when I change the plugs just to be safe. As long as you stay on top of these and do your regular fluid changes you're good.

    Mitch, i need your expertise on finding another engine for my 2005 GTS 7th Gen. I think that the one i looked at said it would fit any 1999 to 2005. I dont think that would be what i want to buy. My GTS is a 6 speed manual, it is so fast and perfect for my driving. The unfortunate part is the 2ZZ-GE, developed a bad knock at high RPM. I noticed it right away and i was about 1/2 mile from home. The knock didnt happen at low RPM so i shifted and coasted to my house. When i got home my fiance` noticed the look on my face. I told what happened, he wanted to see for himself, he pulled the dip stick and the stick was bone dry. I think that i might have ran over something and put a hole in my oil pan. I dont know, i havent been able to check it out since it is so low to the ground, you can't stick your head under neath. I have the Tsumani package and i am going to have to figure out a way to lift it up and get it on car ramps. Fortunately, i bought factory manuals for my GTS and i was thinking maybe rebuild my engine but then again maybe getting a used engine from japan would be the way to go. Finding the right one is my problem. Hopefully, you can steer me in the right direction. I love your videos and thank you so much for all your knowledge and your love for the GTS! Your vehicles are so awesome!

    The Celica 7th Gen motors DO NOT have a Toyota engine. The motors are made by Yamaha. You will find Yamaha stamped on the engine block.....Just some information if you didn't know.

  • @MitchDore

    @MitchDore

    Toyota commissioned Yamaha to design the 2ZZ-GE, based on Toyota's ZZ block, for high-RPM operation and producing a power peak near the top of the RPM range. The high-output cam profile is not activated until approximately 6,200 rpm, (lift set-points are between 6,000-6,700 rpm depending on the vehicle) and will not engage until the engine has reached at least 60 °C (140 °F). The Toyota PCM electronically limits RPM to about 8,200 RPM via fuel and/or spark cut. The "lift" engagement and the engine redline vary by application. Toyota ZZ engine. Just Tuned Up By Yahama. Built on ZZ Platform. Thank you for your comment my friend!

    got a celica but i went for a 1zz, a 2zz was in budget but.....i...do not trust people who get specifically that version around here especially 3rd/4th/5th owners. it's incredibly dumb but I see so many people start there car, rev the tits off it immediately and then drive off...which with the 2zz is an excellent way to prep the engine for scrap heap (because of the cylinder wall coating once that's damaged there is no realistic way to repair it, 1zz still uses ye olde sleeves so even if a dumbass owned it, it should be fixable and wile the 1st owner might warm it up and then drive it hard...maybe the 2nd will, I doubt the 3rd/4th/5th care enough to warm it up before thrashing it :(
