20 licks for Minor Swing, written by Django Reinhardt. Minor Swing is one of the most widely played of all Gypsy Jazz tunes. In this Violin lesson I demonstrate 20 licks that you can use when soloing over the Minor Swing chord sequence. The licks are categorised; arpeggio licks, harmonic minor licks, minor blues licks, chord substitutions, original Grappelli licks and so on. I show how in many cases the licks can be repeated over different chords, either with or without transposition. I also show how they can be modified rhythmically or melodically to make the improvisation more flexible and creative.
