I appreciate everything you’re saying and if I bought a prado new and had it for 10 years (properly maintained etc) I’d put a new engine in it. But not everyone can afford a new car and Prado aren’t cheap. If I’m buying one now and it’s 8-10 years old costing 30-40k or more and then have to drop another 10-20k for an engine, No thanks I’ll take a Pajero which doesn’t have that problem or just buy something for 60-70k new

I have had my KJ Jeep cherokee 2.8L common rail intercooled turbo diesel since 2003. Its just clocked over 320,000 klm and has started loosing coolant , no external leaks and nothing in the oil so I suspected egr or head gasket so I disconnected the egr and still loosing coolant so head gasket leaking into one of the pots and burning it off. Added some Nulon permanent head gasket fix into the coolant followed the instructions and no more coolant loss, idles better and runs smoother. I have also always changed the oil and filter with Nulon full synthetic 5w40 every 6000k so no sludge and clean internals . Simple maintenance ensures engine longevity and maximum utility out of your vehicle.

My 2009 150 Kakadu 1kd done 265k and 7 trips around Australia never missed a beat and still drives like new. All factory features still works perfectly. Only secret I change oil & filter every 5k and I don’t even use a jack!! I use little thicker oil as I live in the desert NT. I had AMG 4 wd, Audi 4wd, BMW 4wd but non of them could match this baby!!

I drive a 2011 facelift 2016 made 1kd hilux and it’s probably one of the last ones they made. The engine makes absolutely no issues

Got 256xxx KM on my 1KD Cruiser going well so far, 2 years ago injectors got measured and they where okay. changing all my fluids now.

Keep the old girls going. Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance is the best way to keep it running smoothly. Drive it within the design boundaries and it will give you plenty of good service.

we just brought a 08 120 with 270k. just spent 4k to get the timing belt, water pump full service and fluids, got the injectors tested and 3 failed. another 3800 for denzos. very worried about cracking a piston. so this has kind of helped, but still very worried as we have only owned it for a few weeks.

Hey mate, love the channel.. not sure if you can help or even reply… maybe someone else can help.. 2009 prado 120.. with 1kd ftv… 250k on the clock.. noticed diesel on the block.. I’m assuming it’s probably a injector seal gone.. I have only had the car for 50000ks so not sure if injectors have been done.. how much does the injector kit cost to replace or any ideas on what else the problem could be… I am massive fan of channel but there is soooooo much info… I may have missed something… also… if I do the injectors is there any settings, sensor or computer stuff I need to do after..

just keep watching the videos from the past. there's a good one on leaks and oil weeps. I'd give it a good degrease and look for the source. post a photo on the facebook page and you'll get some good advice. Injector kit is around $2900 with all the correct parts but get diagnosis done to check values, more videos on that. Check the pickup at oil change, another video. Good luck

im getting a refurbished denzo kits installed and its going to cost me 3800. its quite a pricey build but for the peace and mind, brand new sifleet are 870 a pop and thats not fitted. I do know they have to be coded also so a bit of know how there needed
