I made the mistake of getting a remap once. On my previous 4x4 utility I bought brand new. MN triton. End result was a spun bearing at 120,000 k’s Two months ago I bought a Hilux. I promised myself never again will I tinker with an engine. Learnt my lesson the hard way I did

Very curious to hear what that slight rattle sounds like anth. I cringe every time I drive past just auto's on a Wednesday and see a Hilux or Prado parked in the waiting line..

Anthony, for those that are unlucky enough to purchase a prado with a remap. How do you go about getting back to a Toyota facorty tune. Back on the vehicle.

Bloody good vids cobba . What’s a new long motor worth from Toyota as a mates just died the other day and started blowing black smoke then running rough with blow by. Bit of a pain when it’s only done 160000km. Cheers

97000 km is a ridiculous low mileage for new injectors it's only 60,000 miles

Rail pressure would have to increase injector noise

We're looking at buying a new prado next year for towing a 2.5 tonne caravan, how good is the 2.8 and has toyota fixed the dpf and is a catch can necessary.

Interesting video. But o ne question. If looking at buying a second hand Prado or Hilux, how can you tell if it has been remapped?

Difficult

The factory does thousands of hours of dyno tuning , testing and ongoing development, they are experts. Just leave it alone ✅

If I had a 1kd I wouldn't be remapping it. What ever toyota changed in the pistons from about 09 they went down hill. They are too weak to expect more power out of them reliably.. This is why the 1gd got fancy coatings on their pistions ect... Toyota knew they got it wrong on the later 1kd's

Big front end kit. Water pump, timing belt etc

I have 2018 Toyota Prado with 106,000 on the clock, and now the piston cracked. How can that happen?

But its a piston fault toyota admitt it,you should ring the dealer get it done on warranty

I hope the remap was taken out before he drove home

To much bottom end pressure and probably towing as some people don't know what EGT means

Are you setting up to do 1gd long motors ?

But you never know what the future holds I believe a lot more 1gd’s will need to be replaced than one Kdss once there at the same age
