Good vid, amazing what a bit of maintenance does to a poorly running engine. And people on a budget could easily just clean some of those terminals eg the distributor cap and rotor and it would have worked well. Like to see ya get that rear window operational again and clean the rig up a big. Tks fer the vid.

I don't know if you noticed but there are 2 ports for vacuum long front of the carburetor One port is manifold vacuum the other port is ported vacuum so you need to make sure the distributor is on ported vacuum and I think on that particular carburetor the 1406 I believe it's on the right side. That will give you vacuum advance under part throttle rather than manifold vacuum. Then you might also check your diaphragm to see if it holds vacuum just in case it's got a ripped rubber diaphragm inside it.

If it wasn't filmed before, I don't know why. It has all the fascinating elements to make a 30-minute "drag it out, get it running and drive it 1500 feet" video on channels that specialize in that. It looks like Cookie Monster was working on it. Replace the switch? Nah, bypass it. Test the starter? Nah, beat it with something. LOL...anyway glad you got it running and driving, I think some more on this would be great. I enjoy the format of simply repairing a vehicle without all the amateur comedy.

Thank you Steve. I have a 1985 f150 4x4 the rear frame is rusted pretty bad but the rest of the truck is fine. The engine is a 300 inline 6. Manual 4 speed np 435 transmission. I'm trying to buy a bronco off a guy that was a 6 cylinder also, he sold the engine. My 150 has everything thing the bronco needs and then some. From the back of the cab forward everything will interchange. The bronco has a solid frame and will be the perfect platform.

So many car videos consist of people who like the sound of their own voices blathering on. Yours are truly educational and interesting. Whoever taught you did an excellent job! It makes you realise the value left in so many old vehicles which are scrapped every year because the cost of paying someone else to fix it makes them uneconomic. Over here in England you are not supposed to take a vehicle on the road unless it has been tested independently. How do you get round that on your trip to the gas station?
