    That D1 is a second generation one, produced from 93/94 until the D2 came out. Easy to tell the difference by the shape of the headlights and front of the bonnet (hood). Nice to see you keeping them going..

    I bought a Discovery 1 brand new and it never let me down. The Land Rover dealer in Wiltshire UK was 'Old School' and the service was excellent. I never had a 4 x 4 and so took the salesman's advice on colour and specification. Ran it for just over 18 months and changed it in for a Discovery II. I handed over the keys for the I and took over the keys for the II and my monthly payments went down! The only issue with the II was a radio overheated and was replaced under warranty and I had the rear lights changed to add a running light in the old position as well as the new.. Ran that for about 2 years and never let me down either. Same colour as the I (metallic green) and a many of the extras on the I became standard on the II. The secret is always have them serviced on time. I ran both cars to Germany from the UK with a pallet each of urgent items in the back and earned well out of them. Great memories of some great cars. Well done keeping these Brit classics alive mate ...

    Sir, I love your shows. I've been following some of your episodes recently. I have made a deal with certain individuals in my country Papua New Guinea to buy two Land Rover Discovery 1. However, the dealers and mechanics here can't fix these trucks. Therefore your channels have been very helpful. I'm now thinking more towards buying the vehicles and working on it. Despite that I'm not a trained mechanic. But your shows are so easy to follow and I hope I get the two vehicles started and on the road.

    @Graham RAs I said, the UK auto industry is all but dead, killed off by a mixture poor management, poor workmanship and poor quality control. Apart from the Land Rover, JLR vehicles hardly have a stellar history in reliability.

  • @johnhutchinson9714

    @johnhutchinson9714

    @Graham R I couldn't agree more, the US manufacturing is on very wobbly knees, their quality control is abysmal, it's now profit before anything else, a sure recipe for disaster. Here in Australia, we no longer have an auto industry, and worse, GM has shuttered the iconic Holden brand, I can only assume Vauxhall is in a similar position. Jaguar, my favourite childhood car. I still believe the E Type is amongst the most beautiful cars ever designed, and look great on the road, when they're running:) After being kicked around the globe by various owners, them and Rover, it's great that they're back where they belong. I can only hope that they improve the quality, with it will come improved sales. For the most part, older Range Rovers are known as shitboxes here. Cheers.

    Old Land Rovers never die. The disco 2's are a good vehicle for the money, must have owned 20 of them over the years at least they very rarely lay down and die. I see you've learnt Land Rover owner 101- never own just one haha Check the caliper slides on the D2 they're not great. The speedo transducer is in the back of the transfer box, up beside the transmission brake.

    Those Discovery 2's were awesome when they came out, several of my friends families owned them. Quite prestigious in their day, and impressive off-road to boot. (Dakar rally and all that) But time does not seem to treat them well, and coupled with depreciation, they're almost worthless these days. I've really enjoyed this series of videos, most people don't consider these Discos worth even fixing, much less actually cleaning up and driving like you're doing.

Lastly do you have any throttle position sensors for sale? I bought a new one but broke upon installation.
