Delighted to see my good friend and former employer Bob Shearer,with whom i had caddied for in my first ever victory in the Gold Coast Classic years before,win The Australian Open!Great guy,very deserved too!

Also caddied for Bob Shearer in NZ Open 1979 and several tournaments in UK,including 1980 British Open. www.caddielegend.mysite.com

The crowds back then morphed what we see today. Another point, there was no shortage of sponsors in an era when the Aus Open was considered the unofficial 5th Major.

Yes it certainly was Daniel Mercer and i was caddying for Bill Rogers that week and was absolutely delighted to win it in 1984 at Royal Melbourne with the legendary Tom Watson! www.caddielegend.mysite.com

"Ironically" the clubhouse burned down on both 50th and 100th anniversary of the club? Ironically?... I think "suspiciously" is a more appropriate word.
