In celebrating Nicklaus’ 80th birthday on January 21, 2020, we look back on the best shots of his PGA TOUR Champions career. Nicklaus won ten times in just 84 total starts, including eight titles in his first 32 starts. This list excludes the U.S. Senior Open Championship, The Senior Open Championship and Senior PGA Championship.

    Jack is not only one of the finest golfers, you can almost see from his shot setups that he usually has a specific plan for what he wants his shots to do, and that makes watching him fascinating.

    Who tf doesn’t have a specific plan for their shot??? I mean I’m not just blindly swinging a club hoping mayb it goes somewhere good. I hate when people say this about him. He was just incredibly disciplined and consistent. Nothing else

    @@silvermediastudio Ya, pretty much any legit single digit handicap player is choosing small targets, and intending to hit a very specific shot. That's one of the skills that needs to be acquired to get to that level in the first place.

    Your question intrigued me so I looked it up. He’s got THREE, his first one in casual play as a teenager, the second in professional play and this one on the Champions tour. Tiger and Arnold Palmer each have two but none in an actual tournament round.

    Ageless wonder. The GOAT by a mile. Even with hip replacements and a loss of distance he was still at the top of the pack. Jack still preferred the regular tour even though he knew he had no chance of winning at that age. His short game got better in his maturity because he could no longer overpower the course. Same swing and no steroids unlike the other GOAT pretender.

    ​@@padraig5335 - Yes, I assure you that I know what I am talking about. A distant second. Nicklaus leads Tiger in only one metric, and that is the majors total. And that is only because Jack has played in 79 more majors than Tiger. Any other objective analysis and metric, Tiger blows him away, and it's not even close. Tiger dominated the sport in a way that Jack nor anyone else has ever come close to before or since.

    This is only from the Senior Tour. Jack is 50 years old or above in all of these. Unfortunately Jack played 90% of his PGA career before the blanket digital coverage we have today so a lot of his greatest shots were never recorded or were recorded poorly. Your statement is like saying Tiger’s highlight reel blows Bobby Jones’ out of the water.

    Just a pity the very first clip showed his caddie tending the pin while he was on the apron of the green........ not on the putting surface, so flag should either have been removed before putting, or left in for the putt. Cheating????

    @@padraig5335 I would hope I'm right, I'm the son of a former golf professional/director of golf at one of the more distinguished private CC in Orange County, Ca. After retiring, he taught rules and tournaments at a golf academy in Temecula, Ca. He, also, was a rules official at many pro tourneys in the Palm Springs area. And he was awarded many honors from the SCPGA and, I believe, one from the USGA. Go read rule 1-4 in the rule book, he had that added to it. As you might have gathered, I'm very proud of my dad. He has, since, passed on to play golf on the clouds.
