Hopefully, that's the oil leak identified and sorted. Very organised with the jet storage! Really going well! Cheers, Andy.

Nice video, my '80 xj650 started having charging issues recently, so this is a good vid to prep me for alternator work

That's feels like a good recovery, hope the oil now stays where it should.

Hi there! I am about to do the same job on my XJ750. I am planing to change the nozzle o'ring, the bearing housing o'ring and the crank seal. I read that if you press the crank in you can pull the bearing/seal housing out I now that's the theory but as I have seen in your video you took the crank and housing altogether out. If this happen to I would like to know how did you put the crank in , in its right position. Many thanks (From Spain)

That busted o-ring would definitely have been the source of your oil leak. The main o-ring behind the seal carrier would not have been affected by the stripped thread because it was a tight push fit. Well done helicoiling the bolthole without getting swarf inside. It may be a silly question, but did you blank off the vacuum pipe which normally goes to the fuel tap when you were running the engine?

Thanks mate. I am using the fuel tap from the tank on my secondary tank, vacuum line included.

Man this same charging system is giving me issues on my87 fz600. I’m getting power to the brushes but no power at any of the phases. The coils are in spec with the ohm meter, brushes are good, voltage rectifier is also good. Any ideas?

You are getting to be a dab hand at the helicoiling Nat

@@NatsNackersYard Mine's a heavy duty 18v DeWalt and very little defeats it. Cost about £350 6 years ago with battery packs and charger, but well worth it when I was using it all the time. Still handy to have around now I'm retired, but probably not worth buying just for DIY.

I will stick with my breaker bar for the heavier stuff!
